I can't fault them for the services and life saving treatment they give to struggling pet owners. But the online service is abissmal. Been waiting on a call back for months now. And when I call to make an emergency appointment for a reoccurring abcess my cat has. The Lady on the phone wouldn't even listen and sent me to the online service again. read more

The PDSA are my favourite animal charity as they stop a problem at source by giving free and low cost vet services to those who can't afford it, stopping struggling owners giving up expensive animals to shelters. This hospital handles the brunt of Bristol's animal care, and it shows with the staff cocooned by bullet-proof glass. They do an amazing job, handling people who are understandably upset and getting animals professional treatment. Procedures are free of charge once you have proved you are eligible (if you are on housing or council tax benefit you will get help), but they do request a contribution and rely on public donations. This is one of the first things I always notice when coming into Bristol from the A4 Bath Road. I get really tired of hearing stories about abandoned animals so ridden with fleas they have open sores all over their bodies, or limping around with an untreated bit or break and the excuse the owners tend to give is that they couldn't afford the vets bills. Surely, they know that the PDSA can help. It puts the animals welfare over anything else and will provide emergency treatment for pets whose owners cannot afford it. A very noble charity indeed. The PDSA in Bristol has many charity shops dotted around the city which help fund the charity's pet hospital. The staff are in it for the love of the job rather than the money and this shines through in the service you get there. They really do care and as a result they help improve the lives of thousands of helpless creatures every year. read more

Great service for those who love their pets but struggle with the vets bills! You must be receiving benefits and have proof of this to be enititled to the free vet clinic all that is asked in return of treatment is a donation of whatever you can afford. Despite the fact that they are treating your pet for free the standard of care is in no way affected by this and they will always do what they can to help. read more

The PDSA at brislington is brilliant and when I have used them they have always been great, however just a few days ago I phoned them about my poorly cat, as I could not make it in time before they closed they told me to phone the out of hours number after 6pm and they would fax my details to Zetland road (vets now), who cover out of hours. This I did and even thou I told them I did not know what was wrong but found him hid behind sofa and could hardly move, eyes wide and not responding to me, would not eat or drink and breathing was short and fast, and cried with pain when picked up, was told he was not dire enough and they refused to see him. So spent night sleeping with him in my arms and then dropping water in his mouth, he is still poorly and will try and get him to the PDSA clinic tomorrow, but NEVER will I try out of hours again. VETS NOW are totally unfeeling and unless as an emergency option, and would wonder just how dire the animal has to be before they would see them. read more

I couldn't be without this place and support it every chance I get, although not on any bus routes, if you need your pet seen by a vet this is a great option. Big parking area but small waiting room and can get quite noisy and a tad rowdy sometimes, but I don't think you can expect much more with a bunch of animals jammed together in a little space! Vets are professional and friendly and i've always been able to get an appointment within the day. read more

I have to completely disagree with the 2 comments below. On the 3 occasions I have taken both my Rabbit and Guinea pig to PDSA Brislington I have been greeted with nothing but rudeness and contempt. All the so called vets there only give a damn about what benefits you receive and couldn't care less if your animal lives or dies if you don't have the right paperwork on you !! The staff have to deal with chavs and their dogs swallowed toys all day every day and have been so ground down by this section of society they treat us all in the same manner. My Rabbit in particular has been very sick recently and I was worried enough one night to call the PDSA emergency line, only to be spoken to first by a guy who had to run off a speech about, you guessed it are you in receipt of benefits, blah blah blah. After explaining I was eligible and after all the crap I had to listen to I said could I please just talk about the welfare of my rabbit and get some advice ? So I got a call back (after 30 mins) from the most miserable woman in the world who obviously just resented the fact she was working a Saturday night and had lost her love for animals and had forgotten her reason for becoming a vet ( I use the term loosely) went through the whole benefit / money speech again and I still didn't get any real advice about my rabbit!!!! And told to just bring him in but make sure you have a proof of signature blah blah blah or he wont get seen, I asked if his symptoms were fatal she basically told me yes but without a signature there's nothing she would do to try and help him- personally I think this is disgusting !!!!!! After being spoken to like a time waster I decided that I would take my rabbit to a real Veterinarian who only wanted £28 for a 40 minute consultation and full health check, put me at ease, spoke about my rabbit with great care and affection and explained the course of treatment and what to do to help him in the meantime. I am so sick of the attitude at the PDSA I will NEVER EVER put my animals (or myself) through that kind of awful experience again and will use Vets who want to be Vets and genuinely care about the welfare of my animals. read more

they are the best vets in Bristol my border collie was dying last night my normall vet at filton said if her gums are pink she is okay she has cancer and my normal vet was only out for the money he didn't care about the dog, pdsa saved her life last night by giving her steroids my border collie is on a high today she has come back to life and it all thanks to Bristol xxxx read more
