Very good food lost in the corner of a very busy tourist spot.
The service wasn't bad, but understand that these folks aren't working for tips. You order the food, they get you the food... then when you're ready to leave, they don't guess... you let them know.
We were seated promptly after circling the myriad of restaurants and stores in the Albert Docks shopping area. We had made two circles, but the Peaberry seemed like it had the most well rounded selection that wasn't tied to food genre, like the other places.
The spot is eclectic feel to it. Very flowery, but not overwhelming. Decor that is a good mix of modern and antique-y items to keep the eyes interested.
I ordered a beer on draft, despite the cold outside, because when in England you drink draught beer (Brewdog Lost Lager). We also ordered some appetizers, some may be the wrong word... we ordered a lot. It was all good.
The Haloumi Fries were awesome... some people like soft cheese sticks, these were different in a good way. The pico and sriracha gave it the right balance of kick to crunch ratio.
My crumplestilskin sandwich was delicious too. It was pieces of their buffalo parmesan chicken tenders, bacon, tomato, and lettuce on an inverted English muffin. I already enjoyed the tenders as an appetizer and did not hate that made the insides of my sandwich.
I topped it off with another beer, the Beavertown Neck Oil.
We tasted a lot... I was impressed by it all. They didn't have the Okra and the Squid, but I would certainly return to this spot for another go. read more
