Big wheels, running, kids in wrong toilets, general un chaperoned chaos orchestrated by self centered drinking parents at 9pm in the evening. I watched 5 times a parent retrieved a 20 inches or smaller child from the parking lot. Parents get a grip. read more

We came here on a Saturday to check out the tap room. We were in luck because one of the Brewers, Tim, was working the bar. We got to try a variety of beers (go for a flight, it's more bang for your buck!) and we got to learn a lot about the beer straight from the Brewers mouth! They also have Monument City, Full Tilt, and Fin City in tap, among others. It is cash only, so be prepared. The venue is new, clean, hip, and the building sits on the former Orioles stadium that burned down in 1944. Clean bathrooms and AC were a plus! read more

I used to live in Charles Village & quickly found out about this gem after a trip to The Book Thing. Since, PHB has been one of my favorite spots in Charm City. I returned for a Pints & Poses night (a "pay what you want" yoga class, followed with beers - just one of the many charity events that is run here) and have been coming back ever since! Eddie, is hands down one of the nicest people I've ever met, and then there's the beer... The Bohemian is a (BALTIMORE) classic, Mocha Obscura is unique, Thirstay is delicious, and my new favorite is Togi! My fiancé and I just had our engagement party at the taproom. We had all three rooms available to us & with that came a pool/ping pong table, corn hole, multiple rooms, ample space, and accommodating service! Many that attended were very impressed with the space! I would definitely recommend visiting or having an event here to friends & family. PS. I think it's the only brewery in city limits! read more

Wife and I love this place! We are both big into the craft beer scene and love to frequent the local breweries. Peabody is one of our favorites in the city. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere - very family friendly and some really tasty beers. If you are an O's buff they also sit on the site of the original Orioles park and have some amazing memorabilia from the early years. Come in on a Saturday and the owner may just be around to give you a tour and tell you the history of the team. read more

I'm a huge baseball fan and although I don't root for the O's, I hella appreciated the O's memorabilia they have all around the walls. It was pretty awesome getting to walk around with their beer and look through the stuff. Also, Peabody Heights is big and spacious which would make it great for big events. I went around their closing time but they also seem to open the area up even more for outdoor seating in the day time. Definitely enjoyed this brewery and will be back! read more

Probably my favorite brewery space--ample Indoor AND outdoor seating, something Waverly and Union both lack. It was an unseasonably warm January day so I loved being able to hang outside, though when the sun dropped and it got cold, we had no issues finding indoor space. Very family friendly, in fact there was a kids birthday occurring when we were there. I will say for having so many beer companies offered, none of the beers I tried blew me away but then again I am a light beer and sour obsessed person. Day drinking does not get much better. You can bring your own food, hang out, and order draft local beer. They now sell a bunch of Edgar Allen Poe t-shirts and tchotchkes in a side closet area. They also have a room with free pool, free foosball, and free books (take what you want, as many as you want). Some day I will get my act together and bring pizza. Please note that they have parking, free fresh popcorn, and an ever chilly environment (related to it being a working brewery). Bring a scarf, a hat, and a sweatshirt. You are welcome. You can also usually purchase mix and match cases of beer at decent prices. The bar staff is pretty steady. They have a young guy who smiles a lot and wears Hawaiian shirts who is my favorite. You get a lot of dudes here, and occasionally their lady friends or spouses. They host events in the main space and in a side room, which have always been open to all by the time I arrive. Sometimes you stumble into a holiday party, or a play date with parents drinking. Not sure that I would wander in here trying to make friends or meet a potential date, but you could try. Beer lovers, entrepreneurs, and people who work in the restaurant industry seem to be among their clientele. I have also seen groups who cycled over in full kits, lingering with drinks. You absolutely can hang out in the back playing football, eating popcorn, and nursing a beer and no one will hassle you. It is likely possible to hang out without ordering a beer, but that would be missing out on a big part of the experience. They also have brewery tours. But really, all brewery tours end up being very similar. The first 10-15 minutes are very specific to Baltimore and the location of this brewery. Then you can just leave. read more

Went here on a busy late Saturday afternoon. Point 1 - it was not clear when their hours were. Yelp said 4pm. 4:15pm they were still bumping and not turning anyone away? So we snagged two brews at 4:15. Point 2 - The menu is - weird. They have a few gypsy brewers that take up their menu, but with nothing anywhere describing this, I can see how it would confuse a newcomer. I had one of Peabody's brown ales with fig? IDK I couldn't taste fig at all. My husband's beer was also fine but not memorable. The interior is way bigger than I thought! It's such a cool space with unique history that I hope the full interior design starts to make more sense. They have several rooms and it isn't clear which you are allowed to go into? Also, handwritten signs all over mixed with better signs... and weird splashes of decor that seem to be from Pier 1. Doesn't work. It could be something awesome - just hope it gets there! Definitely worth a drop in, especially after or before visiting Baltimore's The Book Thing! read more

I love this brewery! This is a contracted brewery, meaning they have their own beers and they brew for other companies. Because of this, they have over 15 different types of beers to try! My bf and I tried 10 different sample size beers and I loved them all. This is the first place I loved all the beers. I'm usually not a fan of IPAs but Tell Tale Heart is amazing. Also, if you need to sober up, they have their own cold brew coffee as well. read more

This place had been on my brewery list for quite some time and after giving up trying to find parking at the Bmore Museum of Art, we came here instead. First of all, I'm not opposed to children being in a bar/brewery, but it's not my favorite. They have a "play room" so the kiddies have something to do while mommy and daddy get their drink on. The beer list was about half of what they brew with supplemental guest taps. I'm not sure how long they've been open, so that could be the reasoning behind their lack of options. None of what they had seemed especially appealing, but Backshore Brewing had a malt beverage made with tea that caught our eye. Nina ordered the Lemon and I got the White Mango. Both were scrumptious. They would be perfect on a hot summer day. Although it's rather trivial, I did absolutely adore that they were showing figure skating on TV. It kind of made my day. read more

(11/7/2015) Attended a pop-up dinner event at the brewery. It's a great space for private parties. The bar is only open a couple of hours on Friday, and a few hours on Saturday, otherwise, it's a full-time mostly contract brewery. Staff are friendly a fairly knowledgeable, depends on who you get (brewer vs. owner). Self-proclaimed award winning beers, I saw a medal on the wall, but can't vouch for others. Tried the Old Oriole Park (classic Pilsner), Full Tilt Pumpkin (rather sweet like caramel, strong orange), Monument Brown Ale (roasty, dark). Nice folks, good prices ($2 tasters, $5 16 oz. pints). read more

Peabody isn't in the best of neighborhoods but that doesn't stop them from providing some great craft beers on tap. Inside in a large bar area with plenty of seating at tables and along their long bar. They seem to push their "hoop tea" as their special and rightfully so as it is delicious. I tend to get intimidated by so many selections of beer. I am not into flavored beer or anything that requires a bartender to describe it as if I'm in a Napa Vally wine tasting. However, Peabody covers the bases and has a beer that even the crappy beer taste buds of mine will also enjoy. They don't provide food, but they did have a vendor inside selling vegan food. I don't eat vegan so it would've been nice to have a different option. The patrons inside seem to be mainly locals who are able to bring their kids inside. This is cool, but also annoying for anyone wanting an adult night of drinks without kids yelling and running around a place that sells alcohol. read more

Great neighborhood meeting place with awesome beer. Up to 20 beers brewed in house on tap. My favorite is the Raven Cask (double bock), but they have a wide variety of beers from several groups that brew here (Raven, Peabody Heights, Fin City, Full Tilt, etc.). There are also lots of great events (family night, trivia night, craft fairs, square dancing, yoga, etc.) that bring a wide variety of folks into the space. It has become our default neighborhood gathering spot and they provide beer to support community events and fundraisers for local schools and non-profits. This place is EVERYTHING. Somehow it's become the little kid hangout on Fridays for happy hour, so it's quickly become a weekly staple for us. They have several bookcases of books (kid and adult) from The Book Thing for people to take, almost always have food truck or pop-up food, and solid beer. You can also bring food in with you, and it's cute to see families having impromptu picnics outside in the summer. We also still can't believe how cheap their beer is by the case for takeaway! Loved this place. The space is massive, with ample seating, a kid-friendly room, and a separate game room. We talked with the bartenders and brewers for a while, and they were all very friendly. Most importantly, the beer was excellent, including several brews that are exclusive to the tasting room. They also sell beer to-go and growler fills. Peabody Heights is a special place. Good beer, great people! Many of the folks who work there also live in the Charles Village/Abell neighborhood. It has become quite the neighborhood gathering place, but also a destination for people from far and wide. They have been incredibly supportive of community causes, including local schools, nonprofits, community centers, and neighborhood events. I just can't say enough about the people who work and hang out here, and how welcoming everyone is. It's a great place to visit for just a beer or two, or hang out for the evening with friends. You can bring your own food in. You can bring a card game or board game and just hang out at one of the tables. You can bring your kids! There is a pool table and a foosball table too! And trivia night once a month is super-fun, and organized/run by community volunteers. I LOVE Peabody Heights! read more

PHB is a gem in the heart of the city! If you are looking for a low-key, inviting and friendly place to hang out and drink some beers with friends this is the place for you. The hours are a bit odd for normal tap room hours (Wed evenings, Fri evening, and Sat during the day), but if you are hankering for a delicious beer outside those times, make sure to pay attention to the various events they host throughout the weeks and months. I have yet to have a bad beer at Peabody Heights and I go there often. Let me start with the most important part of the review: the beer is fantastic. What's greatest about this place is the low key feel coupled with high class, well-crafted, flavorful craft beers. You can sample their award winning lager, or perhaps one of Raven Beers' unique and literary offerings. This place couldn't be more local - it practically oozes Baltimore pride. A fantastic local brewery that houses not only their own creations but supports other breweries in the area. If you're a beer fan there is something for everyone! The brews they serve have converted me into a fan of styles of beers I would normally shy away from. A warm, welcoming atmosphere with tons of history.
