Apologies for no pictures. Visited here for a small work gathering, and was pleasantly surprised as to the offerings here. Great beer selection as well as other drinks like crushes. You can order food off a computer and made to order -- pizza, wings, fries, etc. There is lots of room, prices very reasonable, service was great! I would definitely return and recommend. They have outdoor seating and huge garage doors to open that would be great when the weather is nice in the summer and spring. read more

I would 100% recommend a visit to Pooles Island. It's a bit far from me, but I ended up stopping in because I was in the area with a couple friends. This is my second visit. The space has both outdoor and indoor seating. It's very open. It was the perfect day to cool off with some of their frozen drinks. Usually frozen drinks are on the weaker side in terms of spirits, but not here. We went back for seconds and even mixed some of the flavors which was fun. I also love their beer, seltzer and cider options. For those you can choose to pour your own or just get it from behind the bar. We ordered a mushroom pizza which was absolutely delicious. TLDR: Excellent pizza/ wings and solid beer. A wonderful addition to Middle River for a place to hang out with friends Vibe: 5/5 - Located in the back of a nondescript business park, Pooles Island is certainly a destination gem. Upon entry, the brewery itself is quite large with ample seating for groups both large and small. There are also seating options both outside on the patio and bellying up to the bar. Pooles operates predominately by using their pay as you pour tap wall, which is perfect for those who want to sample as many brews as possible. For some of the higher ABV beers, you must ask a bartender to pour those for you from the designated selection behind the bar. The kitchen is located in the back of the brewery and uses both their online portal via your phone and onsite kiosks located throughout the brewery for ordering. This was very convenient, as some people ordered ahead of time on their phones on the way to the brewery as well as some in our party ordered onsite. When your food is ready, they simply call your name at the kitchen counter and you retrieve your eats. Service: 5/5 - The staff both at the kitchen and behind the bar were wonderful. Everything was laid out very intuitively, so interactions were minimal, but any time we needed anything or had a question, the Pooles staff was happy to help. Beer/Food: 5/5 - We came for a Sunday Funday with a group of 6 and we had a blast sampling their dozen or so beverages and a few pizzas. We absolutely loved their take on the buffalo chicken pizza, which was spicy, tangy and crispy from end to end (they do elongated pies). The wings were also a hit, as we ordered a dozen or so classic buffalo which also did not disappoint. On he beer front, everything we tried was tasty and well brewed. It was hard to pick a favorite amongst the group as beer tastes can be pretty subjective, but I recommend taking advantage of the pay as you go beer taps and try them all! Just be warned, this exercise can get pricey, as some pours will get you into the $12+ pint range. Overall, Pooles is a great place to come spend quality time with a group of friends in the county without having to deal with the production that is day drinking in the city. read more

Every time I travel, I try a local brewery. This one was outstanding. It's a huge inside space and very modern. Theu have bar seating and a variety of high tops and table seating around the taproom. They have a cool pour your own wall so you can try and drink at your own space. There's also a decent sized outdoor patio. I tried several beers including the smiths golden, schatz merican pilsner, bay haze and the squeeze. The bay haze was outstanding and perfect on this beautiful day. There was a local food truck as well and was delicious. I highly recommend this brewery. They are dog and family friendly. read more

This was my second time visiting Poole's Island Brewing. I sampled several beers while I was there and I loved them all which is kind of impressive for me! I love the self service aspect as you never have to wait on a server for a refill and you can pour as much or as little as you want. You pay for what you take. Although they were pretty full on the day I visited there was never more than one or two people ahead of me in line for beer. They had an awesome food truck on site that day and all of the employees were friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back. read more

I really enjoyed this brewery. I would have never even known it existed as it's tucked deep into a business park area. When we arrived, we noticed the rules posted on the entrance - they allow dogs! The bartenders were so friendly and personable. They we even chimed in on conversations sometimes, but not in an annoying way lol. We got our tap card which links a payment card and your ID to it. Note - you do not have to pay with the payment card that was linked to the tap card. We explained that it was our first time there, and the bartender patiently explained what to do. We took our tap card over to the wall of joy (that's what I'm calling it lol) and made our selections. I do wish that they had more seltzer options. They only had one at the wall. Apparently they also have 2 frozen seltzers on hand normally, but they were sold out at the time. As far as ordering food, they had a tablet set up where you could put in your order yourself. Then they text you when it's ready and you go to a little window at the back of the building to grab your food. We got pepperoni pizza and fries to share. The fries were amazing. I love shoestring fries, and they were well seasoned with salt and pepper. The pizza was ok, nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad. Overall we had a great experience here and will definitely be back. read more

I decided to pop by here today as I saw they have a DIPA. It was a very fruity DIPA and wasn't for me. I found the beer here to be very fruity or chocolatey. Definitely not my jam for beer but the atmosphere is nice and the owner was also very nice. I can't say I'm a fan of the self pouring stations either. read more

This is the SPOT! What a cool concept. We came on a Saturday night around 5:30 and hardly anyone was here! There was live music and a ton of indoor and outdoor seating- very specious! Didn't know where to start! Staff were friendly. We explained it was our first time here and we didn't know how to go about getting drinks. The bartender said we give our card to start a tab and they give us a "tap card." We use this card to try any of the various beers they had on the wall and you pay by the ounce then cash out. So you can try a little bit of everything or theoretically mix drinks. You can also order drinks at the bar! And they have water and soda. We had 4 total drinks and paid less than $20. They also had food inside that day (quesadillas and wraps). They do not serve any of their own food, only from outside vendors. A friend had the food and she enjoyed it. I had the grapefruit sour an Pooles Gold (hard cider). Both drinks were good and refreshing. My boyfriend had the Welch's drink which tasted like a grape. We sat outside and it was all very relaxing! The location is in the middle of nothing (mostly vacant business park) so I don't think it's well known which was great for us! They also allow dogs! :) read more

I freaking love this place! I recently moved away from this area and the thing that saddens me the most is that I'll no longer be nearby this spot. This place has the option to be self serve, but you can always head up to the bar and order whatever you'd like. They also have items with a higher alcohol content behind the bar. Poole's serve every type of alcohol except hard liquor! They have wine and seltzers in addition to beer, so anyone can come and enjoy. I'm not kidding when I say they have some of the strongest and best wine around. They normally have a food truck on site for you to eat while you relax, but I would love for them to have their own food and menu! The vibe here is open, friendly, and beautiful when it's nice outside for the outdoor seating. This place is super dog friendly, so you can bring your furry friends. I used to frequent this place time and time again when I lived in the community surrounding it, and I miss it dearly! read more

(However, the help were excellent. ) This place is in a business park. We came on a Saturday, stopped in for a beer and a nice night out. It was an eye opening experience. We handed the teller a credit card, an AMEX, glad they take them, and got a draft card in return. The proceeded to the tappers for a selection. The drafts tappers were in the pictures I added. It was a unique "pour your own" draft style. Simply push the draft card in and pay by the ounce. That offers so much convenience in near 90 degree heat. "Not having to order a beer", my wife commented, "it was the best way to keep it as cold as possible." We then took a table out on the patio. A place where kids and dogs roamed, while adults sat and chatted. As for the food, this place allowed byo-food and had a food truck outside. It was nice watching a family of 5 bring a bag of Chick-fil-A. What a great way to ensure you get what you want. As for the experience, we loved it, despite the prices for beer, the beers were delicious, the service was faster and for my wife the beer stayed cold-I prefer a warmer beer. Also, paying by the ounce meant I could keep track of my budget... bring what I wanted to eat and meet some really cool dogs. what a deal! The beer has continued to get better over time, and we L O V E that they have a reservation system. It helps us a bunch before we me a trip around the beltway to stop in. Pooles is very similar to BC Brewery in Cockeysville - beer taps on the wall that you pay for with a supplied tap card, dogs are allowed in and very open concept setting and located in a business park off the beaten path. The downside is they don't have a food menu like BC, but do have scheduled food trucks. I went out with a local moms group last night with the plan to do the scheduled outdoor yoga followed by getting food from the advertised food truck McRuta. Show up and find out the yoga was cancelled despite one of the moms being in contact with someone from Pooles all day. Ok that was fine let's just eat and wait for trivia to start. Wait, the food truck never came and no one there knew why and they have no other food options. We ended up ordering a pizza to be delivered to us there. Stayed for trivia from Charm City Trivia and it was a lot of fun. The place was packed for a Thursday night - almost every table was taken and some seats at the bar as well. I didn't drink beer, but got a margarita slushee instead; it was very refreshing but didn't taste like it had that much alcohol. Overall I will definitely come back and bring my pup as well. The older lady working was pretty grumpy every time we were around her and even got a little snotty with the CC trivia host when they were asking about setting up on their speaker system. The good: beautiful facility. Very appealing inside and out. Tons of room. Well priced. They have a pour your own beer system, you start a tab and they give you a card, insert the card into the tap wall and get as much or as little beer as you'd like..charged by the ounce. It is kinda fun, and makes for quick refills. Also allows you to easily try many of the beers. I wanted to love Pooles walking in, but the beer just didn't deliver. They have a ton of styles, but none that are particularly tasty. I had a 5 oz of every beer on tap and didn't have one beer I would call good. Some decent offerings to be sure, but nothing I would want again. If you are in the area, or a local, def worth a visit - but not worth making a trip out for. A beautiful venue tucked back in an industrial, office-type, building hub. They have a nice large plot of land where they lay out picnic tables, lounge chairs, food trucks, and table games. Inside there is ample seating, a board game shelf, and friendly bartenders. Very welcoming atmosphere. The brews are set up in a tap card, pour yourself system; making it easy to try a bit of everything without breaking the bank...which is exactly what we did. They have a decent range of beers, lots of ipa, with interesting combinations. While the beer was good, it didnt have heavy ipa qualities with dank hops. Theflavor profiles were juicy, but not what you expect in double ipa, or west coast ipas. So im a bit neutral-I like it for what it was, not what it was meant to be. Overall, I probably wouldn't go back, because the beer wasn't anything special for my tastes, but it was a delightful place to try out. read more

My first time here. It's in the middle of nowhere, which has its benefits for peace and quiet and safety for kids. In a nondescript business park, which means plenty of parking. Big outdoor patio, with a grassy area for kiddie play. Inside is huge, with high tops and table games. Garage doors rather than AC, so it'll be interesting to see how comfortable it is in summer. Rotating food trucks outside for eats. Dog friendly inside and out. The beer was mostly enjoyable. A couple of great hazy beers (an IPA and a wheat) were particularly loved. We didn't enjoy the fruity beers - too heavy on the sweetness for our tastes. The ordering/payment system was unique - run your card and receive a payment card that you use to pour and charge your own drinks, which is a great option for choosing exactly how much of any brew you want to sample, and reduces the wait. My favorite was the Bay Haze New England IPA, but I also enjoyed their Passion of the Grist Kettle Sour, which had a great passionfruit vibe. Really cool brewery with a great atmosphere! You can have them pour your beer or get a card and go over to their pour your own station, which is so cool! The beers are not crazy expensive either. I took one star away because I think they have a lot of "crazy beers" meaning they have a ton of various flavors in one beer, which can sometimes be a bit much. Even with that, you will find something you like there! Dog are welcome and they have a little dog potty spot with a trashcan to throw bags away and some water bowls! We loved PIBCo!! We only had time for one beer each and they were tasty. The main room and outdoor seating area were very nice and modern. It's easy to tell that PIBCo will shine once they're allowed to have more guests. If/when the surrounding business park gets busy and the housing community just up the road has more residents, this place will thrive and it'll be hard to get a table. A few favorites were "Big Brother" and "The Squeeze" both IPA's, and the "Hipster Tonic", a sour beer. A very nice atmosphere inside with a bunch of amenities including ping pong, corn hole, board games, and a taste wall where you can grab your own poor of whatever you would like that charges you by amount. Outside has a patio area with several spaces for seating on a nice day. No kitchen here, but local food trucks are brought in which is a nice touch. Another fantastic brewery located! I live in the area and have been meaning to visit this place. I tried 9 of there brews and they were all good and two awesome. My favs were Patio Saison Hon and Paddy the Younger. I really like their system. You get a 'Tap Card' which you insert at the tap and it charges you by the ounce! Excellent idea that allowed me to try just a few ounces to see if I liked it. Outstanding concept. At the end you only get charged what you actually poured yourself. Loved it! Being that it is close, I will definitely be back many times! Also need to add, that my waitress was fantastic in explaining to me the system. Can't wait for my next visit! read more

One of a kind. ...no, really. I've been to a handful of breweries like this before, it this one is different. The space is nice; clean, big, music, board games, outside access, daily food trucks, etc. What makes the place unique is this. All other breweries often feature hoppy IPAs, sours, dark beers, and they all have a similar taste. Pooles dabbles in a plethora of fruity beers - plum, pineapple, mango, and others... including bacon (yeah I know it's not a fruit). None have that strong "grapefruit" hop bite, which I don't mind in a beer, I'm just saying the beers are different. There is a lager and the Rodger Roger is just a straight forward simple beer -- maybe my favorite. Pooles is cool. I'm excited to return. I'm glad it's different. Great new brewery and additional to the White Marsh area. I design of the space is awesome and does not feel like you are located in an industrial park. Very open which garage doors for easy access to the outdoor space with outdoor seating and cornhole. I came on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 6 and had no troubles finding seating though the place was very full. There are food trucks on site which changes weekly. A pretty large selection of beer to chose from- my favorites were "The Squeeze", "Big Brother", and "Strawberry Milkshake IPA" (surprisingly delicious). I've got to say, I'm really impressed. For having just opened up, this place has it all figured out. Not only do they have good beers and a fun/unique concept, they also have a ton of merchandise ready for purchase - from hats, to glasses, bottle openers, stickers, and shirts. And I personally love the logo. So here's the rub down.. you walk in and give your credit card in exchange for a "Tap Card." That Tap Card is now your open tab. Grab a clean cup and insert the card into any of the beer selections. Prices are listed out by ounces (averaging in the 40 cents range). Begin pouring a taste, half a glass, or a tall beer. Your tab will show on a mini digital screen. Once you've got your drink, you go grab a seat. During my visit, there were 2 food trucks on site - a seafood truck with everything from raw oysters, to a po' boy sandwich, and a Mexican truck offering chips and salsa, salads, and tacos. The food trucks change, but it was a great variety! The brewery is extremely spacious and clean. There's room for patio seating on a nice and a bunch of tables inside, along with bar style seating. There's games too! They have the backyard style corn hole, and a loop/hook thing on the wall, but they also have a board game library. To use the library, just drop off your ID at the hostess stand. This place is also dog friendly! If there's any critique I could give, it would be to add more signage (directionally), out by the traffic light and through the business park, and on the glass windows/doors (by way of vinyl).
