To hem two pants and the sleeves of a blazer was $115 plus tax (a bit steep there- and much higher than posted on their Facebook). The pants were $25 each and the blazer was $65. I was hopeful the quality of work warranted that price, but unfortunately that's not the case. The seamstress folded in the arms of my blazer and sewed it in like that, leaving button holes visible in the cuff, of which they kept the buttons that they removed. I had to request she sew shut the cuff button holes now mostly on the inside of my blazer at pick up and expressed it doesn't look good as I now have a thick and bulky cuff with visible stitching, and a visible button hole on the edge of the cuff. The stitches are all visible through the outside of the clothes, and the stitches themself are not neat. I'm extremely disappointed that my nice business clothes (all JCrew and in total cost over $400) now look like this and am contemplating how I'm supposed to show up to work with a visibly horribly altered suit. As a positive, they got the work done way faster than requested (almost 2 weeks) or communicated; although, I'd rather they'd have taken their time and done a better job.

THEIR "REPAIR" RUINED MY SOFA UPHOLSTERY! DON'T GO HERE!…read more The upholstery on my sofa detaches and is machine washable. I tore it while putting it back on. I asked them sew a similar fabric on the UNDERSIDE to reinforce it and keep it from ripping more. Didn't need to be perfect, I knew the tear itself could not be sewn together but patching and stitching the underside could mitigate the damage. I came to pick it up and BOTH SIDES were covered in a fabric patch that's not even a close match! I was told that there wasn't a way to reinforce it from the underside so they just did both. Even if that were true (it's not), why did no one call me FIRST and tell me the work I requested and paid for wasn't possible? This is a very basic ask of a professional tailor, it's unbelievable they got it so wrong! This patch is so much worse than the original tear. The sofa was custom made in Japan and is a one of a kind piece. Pics of the tear and what they did to it. The pics of the denim repair is an example of what I asked them to do.

She pinned and cut the shoulder straps and sewed them together to make the top part of the gown fit. She did not cut evenly on the left and right sides of the gown. She also left a quarter of an inch size difference between the front and back straps when she sewed them together. Really?! I could have done a better job. This created small arm holes that cut into the armpit of the bride. Mia said she can fix it by cutting into the material of the gown. This would ruin the integrity of the gown as she would have to cut into the lace and appliqué overlay. Cutting into the material will ruin the pattern and continuity. Would you want to cut into your $1,600.00 gown? Mia put in the modestly panel BACKWARDS!!! AND, another professional seamstress could not figure out what she did to the bustle. BEWARE!! She did not even keep the parts she cut out. There is nothing to add back to fix her errors. When you walk into someone's work space and see thread and material littered all over the floor you should walk out immediately!!! Mia thinks her bubbly personality should mean that all people are outgoing like her and does not understand introverted customers. Furthermore, she blames the young bride for accepting the gown because she agreed at the time that it felt "fine." Some people are not confrontational. Who is the professional? No one here.

Unfortunately, the dress was not finished in time, and communication has now stopped, as l've been blocked after requesting a resolution. She had shipped me the dress half made- not fitting correctly and now what I originally asked for, once i messaged her she blocked me on everything. I provided my own original design for this dress and paid in full with the understanding of that deadline. At this point, I am simply asking for a fair resolution. This happened a couple months ago now but in needing more alterations done, I got annoyed all over again thinking about it. I've been wearing suits to work for over 10 years now. When I put on my pants, I put my right foot in first, and occasionally it will catch the stitching on the hem at the bottom right leg. This can cause the stitch to come loose which requires that tiny little area to just be resewn. It's happened before, it will happen again. So I walked into Vera's early on a Monday morning. I explained this situation, showed her, and was asked "Do you want to wait 10 or 15 minutes for this?". Pause here because this makes sense. A very simple fix should take little time and cost little money, right? I had to get to work so I said I'd pick it up later or the following day. Fast forward to later that afternoon, and I went by to pick up my pants and there was now a younger lady manning the shop. To my dismay, the pants that I was told would take 10-15 minute were not done and she didn't seem to know when they would be. Okay... no big deal. A couple days go by and I go to pick them up. As I'm being rung up, I see on the ticket $4 and change (or something like that) and I'm thinking that while I assumed it would be a quick, cheap fix, less than $5 is not bad, right? That was not the case. I was charged almost $30... ... for a 15 minute quick stitch fix... I mean... I'm pretty sure I could have figured out how to do this with a thread and needle. I was a bit confused and so I questioned her. "That seems a little high?". She responded "No, this is standard pricing". I questioned her again and reminded her that she told me it would only take "10-15 minutes" (WHICH I DISTINCTLY RECALL SINCE SHE ASKED IF I WANTED TO WAIT WHEN I DROPPED THEM OFF). She responded by saying that she never said that and that in all her years nobody had ever challenged her on price. I was uncomfortable so I handed her my card. But why would I even make that up?! Unless she had a twin, she looked me in the face and called me a liar when she had her facts wrong. Here's what I think happened. I think I was charged for what it would typically cost for both pant legs to be hemmed... and that $30 price range makes sense. But I had a stitch loose on only one of two legs. I'm not sure she even recalled the work that had been done and in her mind thought full work had been done on both legs?! I don't know but given my questioning, I think she could have looked into this a little further... Anyway, the whole experience was offputting. I won't be going back.
