Absolutely stunning park wedged in between Canada & USA. When I pass by the PEACE ARCH I know it's time to cross the boarder whether it's coming or going. Yet before I cross I toss out all the contraband out of the vehicle and put on a happy face. The Arch is large white building celebrating our two countries border and the crossing between One Super Power & Canada. It sits on a patch of grass of no man's land depending on how you view it. It's remarkable that the grass is always green. Before you get in line for the crossing point you can turn off and park in the park for your photo opportunity's. One of the rare places where one can visit while technically crossing an international border but not go through customs. Parking is available (Canadian side) in a lot that is accessed off a side road. The park is also nice to walk around briefly if one is a passenger and there's a long border lineup. Other than the Peace Arch itself, there's a Canadian flag flower bed, and a totem pole. There are also some side buildings. I assume some of them are washrooms. Worth a trip out with friends who aren't used to seeing open borders. Makes one grateful for living in such a free country. read more

The history of this small park at the US/Canadian border marks a small loop hole in the currently closed border between the US and Canada. Since the land is technically not assigned, Canadians and Americans can meet here without 'crossing' into the other country. Given current conditions, this park has become popular on sunny weekend mornings! Part of the park has started allowing tents for more private rendez-vous.... And we saw a LOT of tents! Upon leaving the park to Canada, border guards checked ID of Canadians and asked about declaring goods. This was omitted from the US side. While this formality was present, the border guards were relatively casual about it. One person did not have ID and was allowed to wait with the guards while his wife retrieved his wallet. Many people wearing masks in the park. Didn't look like many on the Canadian side were doing this. We met a canadian family member who chose to stay on the Canadian side of the park rather than enter as she believed entering would mean she would have to quarantine for 14 days when she returned home. We talked across a ditch which worked pretty well. A few sparse picnic tables but many families brought their own. MUDDY. I had brought outdoor gear for my kids because it was cold - I was thankful for this due to the mud. read more

Beautiful park at the Canadian/USA border with the Peace Arch predominantly displayed. Best viewed in the summer when there are colorful flower gardens. No activities/playgrounds here, just sprawling lawns with the arch. There are public restrooms if your vehicle wait is long enough to sprint back and forth. Dogs are allowed to walk around and stretch their legs, too. read more

It's much better than that sounds. + "Log Cabin" type sturdy-looking building + LARGE kitchen with a few ovens, few sinks, one refrigerator, and a counter open to both rooms for easy serving + 2 barbecue pits at the back -- one is reserved for the Shelter renter, and the other is available to the public (as it usually is) + large grass area (we played soccer here in suits and dresses -- I would assume no spikes allowed) + flushing and CLEAN washroom building next door (with actual mirrors) + paved pathway connects the parking lot, Shelter, and washroom (important for dressed-up events where people wear heels) + photogenic sites such as gazebo and stream with bridge, also nearby at White Rock Beach Apparently, because of the bay White Rock is situated on, it is often sunny there when Vancouver is raining. And at a price of $200 PER DAY (until 11pm) when most venues are charging by the hour, it was wonderful!! I was looking for a place for 150 people. I think that's the capacity of this hall. They have tables (that need tablecloths) and orange plastic chairs for that many people. No sound system, but a friend's computer and speakers were enough. Get to the parking lot by getting on Hwy 99 South, then getting off at "Beach Road", just before the Duty-Free shop. Not much is to see at this park. Parking may be a drag because its at the boarder. But it is in fact beautiful park. Once in awhile you can see newly wedded couples taking pictures or even having their ceremony there . Especially in the summer. The only problems in busy time Its really hard to get there because of so many people crossing the boarder. read more

However you look at this plot of green you either know your getting close to your next destination, or probably close to going home. So either you are looking at this in a happy way, or a sad way that your trip has ended. The 49th parallel, with the big white monument that hangs both the Canadian and Amercian flag, a peaceful place amidst the two boat loads of traffic and fumes that wait to cross either North or South. The only times I have ever had the luxury of walking around this park are during huge congested lineups to get to my destination. As this place is a simple, it is well maintained, like a golf range, with it's perfectly cut grass, no weeds showing anywhere, perfectly trimmed trees and bushes, flowers, this place seems to always be sunny in the daytime when I am crossing it. At times you may see people taking wedding pictures at the monument, kids playing in the park, and sometimes people taking their dogs for a good run while throwing frisbees. Also in the summer months you will have ice cream vendors out here, whether your waiting in the nasty lineups, or just in the park. The history of this park goes way back to 1921 and it's supposedly suppost to signify the peace between our two contries, well this place is tranquil, just don't fall asleep in your car before the person behind you honks the horn as you head towards the gates! Some people probably don't even bother noticing this place cause they are too caught up with trying to get to their destination, but if you are in need of some air, or a restroom stop before getting to your destination, or already stuck in a border wait situation, the cliche line of stop and smell the flowers are in order here! read more

I can't believe in all my years, I have never made a review of Peace Arch. Well, this is the border between Surrey and Blaine. There can be huge lines, mostly entering the US, but it gives passengers a chance to run out and take pictures. There are parking spots, so if you do want to spend time exploring the park, you can. The Peace Arch is definitely picture worthy. On a clear day, the view of the water can be super nice too. read more

PAPP is a lovely little place on the north side of the monolithic Peace Arch...this side of the park can only be accessed from the Canadian side of the border, but it's worth the trip because, well, it's just cool to visit a park where you can sneak your foot over an international border just to say you've done it! My only complaint is the fumes from all the cars waiting at the border, though they've recently put up signs asking folks to turn off their vehicles while waiting so hopefully that will help. "May these gates never be closed" so we Americans don't lose access to this lovely park! read more

Losing your sanity? Step outside and breathe in that fresh Canadian air. Excruciating leg cramps and numb bums? Prance around the well-groomed and beautifully landscaped field with endless grass, tall trees, bushy bushes and bright flowers. Bladder about to explode? Use the washroom located outside a wooden house on the Canada to US side of the field. Desire to be in two places at once? Find the grey corner stone that separates the Canadian and US border. Also, stand underneath the huge, white Peace Arch and feel some national pride as the flags flap in the wind. Overall, nice place to pass the time but don't get too caught up in this piece of beauty because you need to get back into that car to cross the border! read more

You guys- when you've driven your ass miles to get to the border only to find out there is a 3 hour crossing wait then this place is HEAVEN Especially on a sunny day and ESPECIALLY if you like bunnies. Yeah, that's right- There are a lot of poeple who unleash their pet bunnies that they can't take care of in Richmond and neighbouring areas- consequently on a nice sunny afternoon you'll see many adorable bunnies frolicking beside humanoids cartwheeling waiting for the U.S. borderguards to get those 300 vehicles in fornt of you through. read more

Agree with RowerRob C....if it wasn't for this park, I'd have gone CRAZY just sitting in our car waiting in those long-ass, slow-moving lines! It's pretty, and thank goodness there's the duty-free shop near in case you need something to eat/drink. The sculptures and flowers and Peace Arch are all quite pretty...nice attempt to calm the savage, border-weary beasts ;) read more

This park is a godsend when you have an antsy toddler who does not appreciate being immobile. While we didn't stop here during a long border wait (Nexus takes care of that!), we popped in here because the scenery is beautiful and there is plenty of green space to run around in. The sculptures and flowers captivated our little walker for quite some time. She particularly loved a tiny speck of the park that featured ginormous rhubarb- inedible greens that were at least 5 ft. high. Major points for the swing set. We met several locals who were at the park with their toddlers, too. The only downside to the park were the musty bathrooms, but hey, any bathroom can be a beautiful thing when you have to go and these were super clean. The only thing they lack is a little playground. The swing set was made possible by generous donors so hopefully more $$ will roll in to fund more play structures. We made a donation in the small drop box nearby. read more

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to this park, but I'm sure it's one of the most 'visited' in the region since every vehicle crossing the border goes right through it. The border crossing at Interstate 5 (USA) / Highway 99 (CAN) is an awfully busy place, and the wait times on either side of the border can be excruciating. This lush, green space provides a modicum of calming tranquility for travelers, as well as a place for passengers to stretch their legs and use the restroom. Glad that it's there! read more

Getting married here soon, love this place since it has so much meaning for us. The Park is beautiful on both sides of the border. The Canadian side has a hall that is about 100 years old that you can rent out from BC Parks. Great venue for family events or even a wedding! I'm a big fan, especially because of the original meaning of the park, commemorating the war of 1812. read more

If you're in a car full of people, and the wait at the border is long... Check out this park. It's beautiful and you get a gorgeous view of the water before entering into Canada/ or entering into the US (depending which way you are going). If you have a NEXUS pass, you won't need to wait long at the border, but you can still stop here and check out the park. Lots of people walking around and taking pictures... I took my picture from the car while waiting... :) read more

This is a tiny park near the U.S/Canadian border. I've been here several times and at all times, they were for big gathering picnics or events. There is a lot of green grass space and there are a lot of picnic tables. It's a nice place to be if you want to be safe, considering it's so close to the border and there are a lot of security around the area. The park is next to the ocean so the air quality is always fresh and clean. read more

This place is a nice park to look at when you're sitting in line for an hour in your car to get across the border. The grass is ridiculously green and well maintained, and the Arch and surrounding monuments are really neat too.
