If I could give this church a zero star rating I would. I was born into this church and went there…read moreuntil I was around 13. The congregation members were like family to me, but apparently that meant little to nothing to some of them. My mother made mistakes and choices that affected her relationship with the church, but those choices were her own and I had nothing to do with them considering I was a child. However, I was cast aside and treated unfairly by certain (not all, graciously) members of this church. I feel as though it is worth noting that my experience at this church caused me to turn away from God and to denounce religion. Christians love to preach about how well they follow the Bible, but at the end of the day use it to push their own agendas onto others. I was a child who was degraded and tossed aside due to the actions of my mother, an adult, that I could not control nor help. That is not the love and graciousness that I read and heard about for over a decade from the Bible or from sermons. I am writing this review not just to complain or to convince others to not attend this church, but to share my experience with the members of this church in the hopes that they understand the utter disappointment and heartache that they caused me, personally. I loved this church and I loved the people. I loved God. Now, I feel as though religion is an organization that will bring you to your knees for crimes which you did not commit and make you out to be a pariah if you do not meet the mold in which they have placed on their members. I hope those of you who did not treat me with disdain are doing well and that you all are living happily. I hold no ill will towards you. However, those of you who did, I hope that one day you learn to fully practice what you preach instead of letting a mere mortal man act as your shepherd. Stay blessed.

This is a special church, in my book…read more I participated in a Sunday-morning service while on business in Augusta, and it was a cherished experience - though, not for the typical reasons. Yes, the church was great, from the warm, friendly congregation, to the uplifting music, to the charming, classical building itself. However, what truly set this church apart was the substance of the service. Specifically, there was truth present in this place (as I perceive truth, at least). This authenticity was evident in several aspects of the service in question: in the powerful and practical message (which was, I sensed, delivered with utmost sincerity, and authority); in the undivided attention of the congregants; right down to the subtle, unseen "energy" of the place. Every facet of the church oozed true positivity and pure intention, in a keen manner which, in my experience, indicates the influence of genuine wisdom. The pastor even held an open discussion on the message and its meaning (and, not just in a perfunctory manner, either); personally, this was the first time I've ever witnessed such an exchange, even among other Unity locations I've attended. In a word: this church is a "rare animal." My thanks goes out to everyone at Unity of Augusta, for nourishing me during my time in the area. Please, continue this most important work.
