1 STAR - PATIENT ABANDONMENT AFTER HOSPITAL DISCHARGE…read more The company that took over Amedisys Home Health in Florence, AL -ADORATION - discharged my mother by phone call just TWO DAYS after she was released from the hospital, with no transition of care, no replacement services arranged, and no concern for patient safety. My mother was discharged from the hospital with the explicit understanding--shared by the hospital caseworker--that she would be coming home under Adoration's care. The hospital caseworker worked directly with Adoration prior to discharge. Despite this coordination, the company abruptly dropped her two days later due to prior hospitalizations, leaving her completely without home health services and without a safe plan in place. This was not a proper discharge. This was patient abandonment. While my mother was hospitalized, an Adoration representative named Carla visited her in the hospital and stated to me--in a condescending manner--that "next time you may want to think about not sending her to the hospital at all." The implication was deeply troubling: that seeking emergency medical care for my mother was an inconvenience to the home health agency rather than a medical necessity. No patient or family should ever feel pressured to avoid lifesaving hospital care to protect a home health company's metrics. There was: * No in-person discharge * No written plan of care * No coordination with physicians * No continuity of care Just a phone call ending services two days after hospital discharge, leaving a medically fragile patient without support. This conduct is alarming, unethical, and dangerous. Leadership should be extremely concerned about operations in Florence, AL, as this behavior places patients at risk and families in crisis. If you are considering this company for a loved one, ask very direct questions about how they handle post-hospital discharges and patients with complex medical needs. We trusted them--and were left without care. Mom was with them off and on from 2019 until the END of 2025 and this is how they treated her ... If you're with Adoration I HIGHLY suggest you jump ship as they transition to a HORRIBLE company who has no regard their patients care.

Very thorough and professional. Able to deal with an elderly patient during the last stages of his life. My dad liked them and we feel blessed that they were there to ease the last days.

Home Instead quit with less than 24 hours notice…read more My mom used Home Instead two days a week for almost two years to help with daily chores, light housework and neighborhood walks. Then Mom had an injury and suddenly needed much more assistance until she healed. We contracted with Home Instead to increase Mom's services to round-the-clock help. But that lasted less than two days. I could not have been more shocked when Home Instead told my family at 3:30 p.m. that when their aide finished her shift at 10 p.m. that night they would no longer be sending aides to assist Mom. That's right: We had less than seven hours notice to make other health-care arrangements. After collecting months of high fees, Home Instead quit on a vulnerable customer when she most needed its services. Moreover, what if my brother had not been there to take the we-quit phone call from Home Instead? What if my Mom had been on her own? She was newly injured (broken wrist) and her pain medicine was making her disoriented. My 85-year-old Mom was accustomed to relying on Home Instead -- she thought she could depend on the services she was paying for. Home Instead let Mom down -- let down our entire family, in fact. And it could have been much much worse if my brother had not been at my mom's house. Home Instead endangered my mom. I cannot stress strongly enough that no one should entrust their loved ones' health to Home Instead. Stay away!
