Back in 1992, I got my first Belgian Malinois when I was a Police Officer. I needed to be trained more than Diego. He was a year old and was trained in Holland. His commands were in Dutch. I learned a lot working with him. When I left the police department, I took him with me. Since then, I have had many Malinois. Instead of going to a breeder, we have chosen to rescue them. Many people do not understand what it takes to be an owner of a Belgian Malinois. These are not your average dog. It takes a lot of patience, control, and you need to continuously work with them. This breed need's structure and tasks to do. So, when people cannot control them or are not willing to put in the time, they give them up. Either to a rescue or to a shelter. By the time we got them, they had some behavior issues that needed work. Even with all my experience with the Belgian Malinois, I still need help from time to time. When we needed help with Sadie, we looked around for a long time to make sure we hired the right person for the job. While looking, we came across Peaceful Pets and Charlene. After talking with Charlene, we stopped looking for a trainer. From the first moment we met, and talked with Charlene in person, we knew we had our trainer. Later, after this meet and greet, Charlene emailed us with a very detailed, and a specific plan for Sadie. She also let us know what was required from us to make sure Sadie got the best training possible. After each session, she gave us "homework" to do with Sadie. By doing this, Charlene was making sure we were doing right thing for Sadie and showing our commitment to Sadie. After our final session, I knew Charlene had given us the right tools to continue working with Sadie and provided Sadie with the right training to keep her mentally engaged. We needed to add a German Shepherd/Husky puppy to the mix ‍Needless to say, we knew we'd need to invest in high-quality, in-home training for the benefit and wellbeing of all the members in our crazy little circus. We used Charlene to train a newly adopted 2 year old pit bull who is super high energy and has lots of anxiety. Charlene does in home sessions and our dog was drawn to her immediately. She earned her trust right away and bonded with her therefore responded to her right away. The results we had with Charlene were unbelievable! In 2 sessions she had taught her so much, taught us so much and made sure we thoroughly understood how to continue to work with our dog because she wants you to succeed. She doesn't leave the session after an hour and watch the clock. She works until you see results. I have never worked with a trainer that was like this, typically it's an hour session and done. Charlene is an incredible trainer, she truly understands dogs and what is best for them and best for your family. I will recommend her to the moon and back every day. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to keep this dog because she was so high anxiety and energy but now she is trained and listens to the commands Charlene taught her. We adopted our 5-6 year old Pitbull, Diesel, from a shelter about 7 months ago. They had no history on him, other than they believed he was used for breeding and left outside. Charlene was very transparent with us in stating Diesel may not be comfortable with her and she couldn't guarantee he'd be willing/receptive to training. She did however, agree to meet with him, giving him a chance, rather than discount him entirely. We've only had one session with Charlene thus far, and we cannot say enough positive things about her! She has already by far, exceeded our expectations, just in the thoroughness of her intro session alone. It is so evident how much she cares about the dogs she works with, in addition to their overall wellbeing. In 2022, we adopted a Beagle from a local animal rescue, Last Chance Ranch of Quakertown, PA. Percy had been found as a stray in Georgia and found himself in PA. They estimated his age to be 3 years old. Charlene is phenomenal to work with. She is patient, and thorough, and truly loves dogs and their pup parents. After doing a quick Facebook local group search for "recommended dog trainers" there was repeated recommendation for peaceful pets so we reached out to schedule a consultation and Charlene (owner) had tons of experience and foundational education in dog training as well as core-beliefs that aligned with ours. Within minutes of getting our new puppy to focus and started our 1st session it was like the "dog whisperer" was in our home... and I forgot to mention she comes to your home to train the dog in its own home (which is huge) and very convenient. Needless to say we're on our 6th session (now working on advanced behaviors) and have no plans on stopping. A good foundational set of sessions is about 3, everything after 3 sessions starts to work on some advanced commands and behaviors (which we love) but may not be what others needed. We already had a 6 yr old Bichon (Chloe) but just adopted a 1.5 year old Jack Russell Shih Tzu mix from the animal shelter. Clearly, we weren't used to the loads of energy of our Jack Russell, Charli! We felt it would be best to get her some training so she could be more manageable. Our family, including our dog Kevin, loved working with Charlene. She was generous with her time, passionate about training and a true animal lover. Our dog has a bite history and Charlene was very patient and careful to gain his trust before pushing him. And not only did she work well with Kevin, she trained our human family as well. If I could give this business 10 stars I would. Charlene is truly a lifesaver. My dog is a 3 year old rescue who was afraid of everything including her Mom. I was a wits end when I contacted Charlene for help. Patty was basically running our life. She spent quite a bit of time her first visit getting to know Patty and her disposition. I can't recommend Charlene and Peaceful Pets enough. She has worked with my Hamish (black and white dog in photo) for 4 sessions and the difference in his anxiety is astounding! He is a shy, fearful dog who is super attached to me as his security and she has helped him start to gain confidence around new people. Charlene was incredible to work with for both of our newly adopted boys, Ranger and Franklin! We have tried a few different trainers, and she is the best. Spends as much time as you need with family and your dog. I have used one pet sitter who spends only 15 minutes, if that , and didn't even address Grace's issue. Charlene will be honest and most helpful with your dog. She helped us to train Grace.
