To my surprise the owners texted to check on our progress. Not once did they ever have anything but a positive attitudes. We made it in and got settled very late. The time difference had us off slightly. The whole cabin was well furnished and extremely clean. It was very roomy and came with amenities most 5 star hotels don't! I was completely shocked at the experience and have now found a new place for my family to go whenever we feel a need to "get away", which is often! Upon our departure, the owner was even nicer than when we first met! I am so pleased with this place I will recommend you trying it out for yourself. Since we were staying at Bowman Bridge Campground on the Marquette River, my wife and I wanted to avoid driving back and forth between Baldwin at the start and end of our trip, especially after a few delicious river Oberons. I sent them an email and Troy was quick to respond. They were able to pick us up at our campsite the next morning (on time!) and take us straight to the launch. Not needing to stop in the rental office was greatly appreciated as was the fact that they take care of the river permits for you! Even better was that when we got back to the campground, we didn't need to call and wait for a pickup. We simply put the canoe up on a rack and continued on with our day! It looked like they have staff and buses at each of the major stops of the river, ready to help out and transport any groups as they came in and every employee we ran into was super friendly. Seriously, I can't say enough about how great of a livery this place was! It's a seriously well-run operation that made our little weekend getaway so much more enjoyable!

We have always camped at Mears State Park...after camping at Whispering Surf this will be our first choice! First off the owners Jane and Andy and great! They are super nice, knowledgeable and want you to enjoy your stay while being respectful of other campers and their property. I was extremely impressed how they dealt with the Covid restrictions...We felt extremely safe and my family was able to enjoy our camping experience! First off, I don't know about you but my husband and I do not always communicate great when parking our camper...well forget about that at Whispering Surf....The Campground Host will guide you to your site and instruct the driver exactly which way to turn the wheel to get the camper parked on the site perfectly! This is AMAZING!!!! We love the full hookup! They come around twice a day and pick up your garbage from your campsite. They have an app they use called campers app in which you can order wood, ice, firewood, fire starters, Hershey Bar, marshmallows, graham crackers, and more...they they deliver the items to your site. They have a small mini golf course, and play ground however they were not used much due to Covid. This campground is VERY nice, VERY maintained but not fancy...it is perfect for us...we are camping. There is a little resort next door that rents very basic older pontoons for full or half day for very low prices. Which is great if you want to putter around bass lake. The people we have met at Whispering Surf have been kind, diverse and from all walks of life. Quiet hours are similar to most campgrounds, as long as your outside music is off and you can't be heard and aren't disturbing other campers it didn't seem to be problem for us to be out by our fire after quiet hours. We love this campground and plan on booking several spots for next season!

I knew they booked up for summer in January but I called in December to ask for a specific date and they didn't have an answer. Booking was over the phone, which seems outdated. We booked 3 nights and would have easily booked a 4th if anyone had told our group (3 separate families) that the fun activities like a glow parade and foam party happen on Saturday night. We'll definitely keep that in mind for the future! We were one of very, very few tent campers. There are no reduced costs for tents. All sites are gravel. We stayed at 2 locations - site #7 which had a bright streetlight on all night,, and site #122 which was darkness. A con of #122 was that the fire ring was next to the wall so you couldn't place chairs completely around it. Overall, there were so many wonderful activities that really made this place awesome for kids! The man made lake included inflatable trampoline, slide, and climbing tower, the pools had basketball hoops, there was a jump pad, pickleball courts, bike trails, Cornhole (BYOB - bring your own bags), sandpit dodgeball, a playground and scheduled activities/crafts. There are a few on-your-own-time activities like a scavenger hunt that took a decent amount of time because the campground is huge! They have coin-operated showers (10 minutes for 1.00) but all 3 times I tried, at different times of day, it was still a not-warm shower. The lodge had a decent selection of food. My kids enjoyed corn dogs and I loved the crispy chicken tenders! Ice cream is naturally delicious. Overall, great experience! Maybe their next enhancement will be mini golf...

Next, Whispering Oaks is one of the cleanest, well maintained campgrounds, and very reasonably priced. I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at many. We stayed in one of their little log cabins, which was an adorable log cabin, rustic style. No bathroom or water in the cabin, but the bath house was very close by. The cabin had power, small fridge, microwave, cable tv, heat, a/c, double bed, and twin bunk beds. Linens, towels furnished, but I always recommend bringing your own pillows. It was clean, quiet and cozy. Perfect for families. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you plan on partying. It was really quiet by 10pm. Highly recommend if your in the Baldwin/M37 area.

This trip we traveled without our kids and enjoyed the amenities. Our niece and nephew visited one night for a campfire and they enjoyed the campground too. This is the perfect location for us to visit our family in Glen Arbor. We spent the week biking the Heritage Trail and visiting Empire Beach. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The showers are always clean. It was nice to see they added a second laundry facility. We have a travel trailer so we stayed in the general campground. Our site was 413 and the long back in with no problem getting in. Our escort, John, was fabulous. He helped us get set up and was always able to answer any questions. The store is convenient and the popcorn at check in was a welcome touch. Since we didn't travel with kids, we didn't pack smores supplies so the store being open until 8 was appreciated. The pool was a nice afternoon retreat after a morning of biking.

The folks checking us in were very kind -- we are new to RV'ing. They asked if we wanted an escort. We did so a very nice gentleman escorted us to our spot and helped me back in. He even dropped off some wood for us. It is the end of the season -- it was not busy. I'd say it was *maybe* 1/3 full. They must have permanent trailer spots because we saw a number of trailers that were clearly not in use. We didn't have any noise issues like others complained. We weren't there for the food or the pool. We just like a level, large, site and this place had it. When we stay again, we will book one of the sites that has the paved patio. We brought our e-bikes and rode down to Empire to pick up the sleeping bear trail. It was a short 3 mile ride to town. The road was a little scary since there isn't a bike lane and it is 55MPH but most people moved over for us. One person was a jag and buzzed us but other than that, it was fine. Very pretty actually with the leaves changing colors. So, all in all, I really liked this place. We'll be back.
