SEA HAVEN DENTAL UNETHICAL BILLING I went for a cleaning…read morethis week and knew that the fee under my Aetna dental savings plan was going to be $79. They hand me a bill and asked me to sign it but it is for $125. They did not ask me if I wanted the fluoride treatment which would have cost another $46. They just put it on there and assume you were going to pay for it. I had them remove it from my bill and I paid the proper fee My husband went to the same office 2 days later for a cleaning under the same pricing structure, they asked him for $200. He had the same fluoride treatment added on AND also they added a cancer screening. They handed him in the bill and asked him to sign it and pay for it. I had warned him about the fluoride but did not expect the additional fee. He told them to remove the fluoride which made the bill $160. But still it was supposed to be $79 for just a cleaning. If they are going to put add-on treatments onto your visit, they need to ask you first. According to the ADA, it is unethical to do add-on treatments such as fluoride or cancer screenings without first having a conversation with the patient and offering it to them and giving the patient the choice. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN They also refused the $79 fee and said it was supposed to be $125. I just got a call from the office manager, Monica, who claims headquarters hadn't updated the Aetna pricing. However two days before it was correct for me. Strange! The worst part of this is the office manager told me they had witnesses that the office personnel did, in fact have these conversations about the add-on treatments. THAT IS A FLAT OUT LIE. They didn't ask me about it nor my husband they just hand you the paper ask you to sign it and pay for it.. IF THEY HAD, this would have all been simple We would have said "NO THANKS" and End Of Story! My fear is that this office, and maybe other offices, are doing this as a way to generate more income. It's like bringing your car in for an oil change and getting a $300 bill because they decided to rotate your tires and change your windshield wipers. WITHOUT ASKING. We are very detailed and make a habit of reading the details, but I worry about the people who don't, maybe the elderly are being taken advantage of. Needless to say, we are not going back. In our opinion, based on our experiences, they are liars and crooks. I'm considering reporting this to the ADA. See Photo attached

The office is beautiful with all the bells and whistles. The hygienist did a great job. When I made…read morethe appointment and inquired about the fees I was told the exam and c-rays would be about $70 (accurate) but they would not disclose how much the cleaning would be and now I understand why. Unfortunately they are incredibly expensive. $300 for comprehensive evaluation, X-rays and cleaning. Plus they try to get another $65 for fluoride varnish (I felt it was unnecessary as my toothpaste has fluoride in it) and oral cancer exam (which was included in the exam at my last dentist). I normally pay $125 for biannual exam, cleaning, X-rays and oral cancer exam. I understand having such a nice office that they are recouping costs, but I feel this is excessive. My previous dentist (in California) gave me a discount as I was cash pay. Not having to bill insurance is a plus for the practice as they are paid immediately. Also, they offer Invisalign, which is nice. Normally charging approximately $8k, they were offering a back-to-school discount and it would be $6,000. I can get the same type of orthodontics for $899 through Smileie which I will probably be doing. As the cost difference is so great for the dental work I will probably coordinate care with my dentist in CA as I'm back there periodically anyway. If you have insurance or affordability isn't and issue, this practice will probably be a good experience for you. It was for me until I had to get out my wallet.

Dr. Elhosary was calming, straightforward and gentle. After she was done, I had to give her a high five!! I imagined it to be sooo much worse. I am so satisfied with my denture and more importantly, my smile!! Thank you Dr. Elhosary Also a big shout out to the amazing office staff. They worked with my insurance to get the best price possible. An all around excellent experience.

Although, the dentist seen was good I had a horrible experience with their dental assistant when…read moreseen there last time. First she inserted a huge X-ray or film into my small mouth and almost (if not could possibly) broke my jawbone, to make matters a lot worse she was complaining out loud that I bite her hand while she had me to bite hard into a hard metal rod and so she managed to fracture one of my upper tooth that I have recently just discovered now by going to a different dentist. Very strange that a dentist assistant would not consider the size as small opening of a mouth and fragile teeth as genetic makeup and whether the patient has TMJ/TMD and will force big things and abuse their mouth horribly instead of providing appropriate as gentle care for patient need. Highly doubt she would have liked to receive the same abusive as beyond poor level of treatment in exchange. And to excuse herself well, she insinuated that I bite onto her big hand instead that she got stuck into my small mouth with her huge X-rays just not to appear to be any at fault. Tired of professional human negligence and abuse of all kind.

When I got there, they were more concerned about my insurance and anything else. When I inquired why she said if you have insurance, it's not a free consultation, but I don't get that. All I wanted was to know what they could do for me and what it would cost me. I don't wanna build my insurance. I have my own dentist. I would only go there if that was the only function That they were going to perform, but they were looking more to be a long-term dentist for me and I don't want that I just wanted to go for the advertise service for the free consultation, which was not available because I have insurance that Office gives me the creeps.
