I am so overdue on this review so my sincere apologies to Caleb. I have never been to this place so I ordered some shoes to be delivered here and so glad I did. I was immediately greeted as I walked in the door and both men were very friendly. I was on a tight time frame as I had to pick up my husband. This is the real deal customer service place that we so used to know! They actually help you put the shoe on and tie them! I was so impressed with this service. Caleb waited patiently and went out of his way accommodating my needs. He even pulled up the computer for other options. I am definitely that one who wants to try everything. I am a nurse and have an have a foot injury so trying ever option is critical for comfort . Caleb took MORE than enough time to allow me to find the right fit for my foot. One of the best characteristics that Caleb has is he know his shoes and can tell you the differences in comfort, cushioning and stability of shoes which helped me so much in making a decision. Definitely a place to come when you are looking for some more professional guidance on walking/running shoes. I am not an advanced runner by any means, but my husband swears by this operation so I decided to come in and check them out as I was having some tendinitis issues. The staff, elite runners themselves, took their time to offer me a number of options and try each one until I was completely comfortable. That included walking on their indoor track for a bit of time to ensure no issues. It's a fantastic value for the money, particularly for elite runners or individuals like myself that might be in need of a little TLC for footwear. I needed new, better shoes to help treat and prevent foot pain. Worn out shoes is how I got it, and remembering my brother's experience here, I decided to go here too. The salesman knows his stuff-- from foot mechanics to which brands of shoes are best for each foot type. After trying on three different pairs, I chose the one that seemed to be best for my situation. A couple of weeks later, in part due to proper shoes, I can report my pain is going away. Had a recent appt with a physical therapist regarding some ongoing ankle pain and instability. In addition to some stretches and exercises, she recommended I seek some good shoes that offered more arch and ankle support. I immediately thought of Peak Performance on Cass as I knew they had staff that would properly measure your feet and check your gait and recommend shoes accordingly. This helped a lot as left to my own devices I would choose based on color or how "cute" they were rather than comfort or proper fit. I was there on a slow Friday afternoon as the only customer. The young gal that assisted me (I should have gotten her name!) gave me her full attention and provided excellent customer service. The shoes are a bit pricey but quality shoes always are and my PT says I need to think of them as the "gear" I require to walk around more pain free. I haven't had my new Brooks very long but they are extremely comfortable, seem to provide me more stability than my flimsy Sketchers and I am hopeful they will really help with my long time pain issues. I needed a new pair of running shoes and decided to try out Peak Performance based on the reviews I had read. This wasn't my first time buying running shoes, but it was my first time buying them from Peak Performance and I was 100% satisfied. They take measurements, watch you walk, ask about trail vs pavement running, etc. before offering a selection of shoes to try on. I really appreciate that they do this. I didn't feel pressured to go for a more expensive shoe or anything like that. If you want and save a buck or two and skip the assessment, maybe stick to ordering online. But for those who want to be sure that you're getting the perfect pair of shoes, I'd definitely recommend Peak Performance. Friendly staff, good selection, average prices. read more

1 year ago I bought shoes here and it was a great experience. I told everyone it's a good place to buy shoes. They watched me walk and recommended the best shoes for me. So of course I came back to Peak Performance when I wanted new shoes. None of that happened this time. They had to order my shoes and said they would be in within a week. 2 weeks later I still don't have the shoes. I called a couple times and have been told several conflicting stories. I finally went in to get a refund. No apologies just a bunch of excuses. I gave 3 stars because they have great shoes but I was not impressed with their customer service and it was nothing like the first experience. read more

Stopped in today around 5:00 pm to shop for a pair of athletic shoes for my teenage son. Shopping for shoes has never been high on our list of fun things to do together. He needs a pair for some summer activities and unfortunately is cursed with flat feet. The associate at the store was so friendly and helpful. She measured his foot, observed him walking on their indoor track, and found a pair of shoes in his size that matched his needs. They were a great value for how comfortable he said they were. As an overweight out of shape old dude I made the crazy decision to start walking and jogging this summer. I went from zero to jog/walking 4 miles and ended up tearing my lateral plantar fascia. So after some Dr. Visits and some rest I talked to my buddy Kurt who recommended I go to Peak to get fitted for some shoes. I was hesitant because it come off as a hardcore running store. I decided to check it out and I am so glad I did. We were greeted right away and the guy that helped me sat me down evaluated my feet and knees and had some great recommendations in minutes. After trying on a few shoes I ended up going with the Saucony Guide 9. Compared to my 5 year old Nikes these felt like walking on the clouds and literally felt like having a spring in your step. After going on a 4 mile jog I am happy to report the shoes feel amazing and my plantar fasciitis hasn't hurt since going with these shoes. Peak performance is the place to go for newbs or pro's. They'll hook you up. The only reason I'm. Not giving 5 stars is because the prices are MSRP but otherwise a perfect store. read more

Of course they have other gear and plenty of knowledge to go along with it but the shoe selection and gait analysis is really why people [myself included] go here. I'm definitely a beginning level runner, but didn't feel any less valued as a customer and had pretty much the best possible shopping experience. Compared to the bricks I was running with before, the new shoes I was matched with (matchmaker, matchmaker...) are probably one of the best investments I've made in a while - but be prepared to make that commitment upwards from $100. Unbelievable. Just left this location. Walked in to get new sneakers for my husband. We know the Brooks shoe we want. One guy kind of looks at us and walks past us to go outside. Okay. Another guy walks through the store, slows to look at us and heads out some other door. Okay. I go to the front door to see what time they close. 6:00 ... but it's only 4:00. Okay. Let me note that we are the only customers in the store. I go back in and wander to a side area of the store where a guy is having what appears to be a meeting with a couple of guys. It looked pretty casual. A guy looks at me but does nothing. Okay. So we left. We'll head west to another store. We've been buying our shoes here for years. What in the world is going on with this place? It would've been the easiest sale ever. It may have taken a whole 10 minutes out of their very busy schedule on a dead Friday afternoon. read more

I've been going to Peak since I was in high school, over 10 years ago, for my running shoe needs. My latest visit was a couple weekends ago on a mission to find a new pair of running shoes. Peak Performance is so awesome. They have a lot of different models from the hardcore running shoe companies such as Saucony, Brooks, Asics, New Balance and more. All of the staff is super knowledgeable about running and the shoes as well. I personally love the small track that goes around the store. It's definitely tradition for me to take a lap when trying on new shoes. My only gripe is that their prices are full msrp. While on Amazon, you can get the same shoe for about $10-$15 cheaper. Peak is the best running shoe store around and I will continue to come here for many years to come. read more

My daughter and I went in last week to see what shoe might help her with back problems. We had a nice and helpful experience with a sales woman "S". My daughter chose a shoe but didn't like the only color they had in stock. S helped us see what other colors they could order in her size. I looked on Zappos at the same time to see color options. My daughter was between 2 colors, so I ordered and paid for the only one that S could order (discontinued shoe, so S couldn't get all colors). S believed the shoe to be white, but we suspected it was blue as it was named "Sky." I also ordered the other color through Zappos (at a $40 savings mind you, but I wanted to give the local store the business and give S the commission). Zappos color came in the next day, and my daughter liked it. I got a message days later saying the sky color shoe was in at the store, so we went to look. After seeing that it is in fact blue, my daughter didn't want that pair. I asked to return the shoe, and the man helping us (seemed like the owner) was very huffy about it. First he said there was nothing saying I had already paid, but thankfully I had my receipt to show him. I gave no trouble about paying the $10 restocking fee, but he still harassed my daughter (age 15) with snotty remarks like, "You don't like gray??" (They are power blue shoes) and "What color are you looking for then?! I mean... I'm just having trouble understanding." When I said that S thought they were white which is what made us go ahead and try, he just frowned. I told him we had a great experience with S which is why I went ahead and gave her the business, but he didn't respond. I didn't even point out that I couldn't saved $40 and gotten them days sooner from Zappos (they had sky and all the other colors online). Lastly, he said the other shoes would be in tomorrow and asked if I had gotten a call about that. I never received that call, nor did I ask them to get the other color. I think he has us confused with a different customer, but when I said I never got another call, he literally rolled his eyes in disgust. I try to support local and give commissions to good salespeople, but this guy's attitude has ensured that I will never go to this store again. My daughter actually teared up in the drive home bc she felt so scolded and demeaned. read more

There must be an unwritten rule somewhere that to work at a local fitness store, you must have been one of those fat kids in high school that no one liked who turns their life around by running marathons and hating on people who run just for fun. I exercise purely for fun and am not the least bit competitive when it comes to anything athletic, mostly because I don't harbor delusions about my athletic abilities. Peak Performance has an excellent selection of running shoes, equipment, as well as a track where you can test out the shoes that you buy. They also employ "experts" who are local runners who act as if they don't have time for anyone who hasn't run in 20 marathons in the last year. If you don't mind condescension from the staff and paying a little bit more than you would otherwise, Peak Performance isn't a bad place to pick up running gear. read more

Very knowledgeable staff. I'm on my 3rd pair of shoes from Peak. Everybody's feet are different. The staff figures out which shoe is best. Did you know your running shoe should wear down in the center section of the sole? Before coming here, my shoes were wearing at the ball of my foot and I thought that was normal. This was causing knee and toe soreness. Thanks to the Brooks shoe line at Peak, I don't have the issues anymore. You know what else? The staff isn't trying to sell you the most expensive shoe. Today, I was shown the latest Brooks running shoe that's right for my feet, but I was told I could save $15 by purchasing last year's shoe style that they still had in stock. I went for the latter and saved a few bucks. Thanks Peak Performance!! Also, bring your old running shoes with you. They will take them and donate the pair to those in need. read more

Spent $160 on fancy running shoes because my feet were starting to hurt with my old shoes. Despite measuring my feet they gave me shoes that were way too tight. They told me there was a 30 day return policy so I went back to exchange them for a bigger size and they charged me a fee to do so. The new ones were still way too small. Apparently they don't know how to measure. I didn't want to go back and get charged even more just for the shoes to suck once again so I wasted $160. Worst shoe store I've ever been to. read more

My husband is an avid runner and has been coming here since high school for new running shoes. As you walk inside, there is a lot of merchandise organized well inside of a track which can be used to test out shoes. There is also a treadmill for the exact same purpose. The guy that helped out my husband in our last visit was super knowledgeable and able to help my husband find the best shoe to fit his unique running shoe needs without being pushy. I imagine we will keep coming back in the future. As long as my husband keeps running, this will be our spot to find him some kicks! You're able to buy gift cards here as well and they have a lot of information about local marathons and races. read more

Good selection, nice staff but I felt their whole sales routine was a bit gimmicky. The whole Standing Gait Analysis thing felt more like snake oil than anything else -- i.e. a way they can sell you the most expensive shoe possible. However, I did get a nice and comfy pair of Sauconys, but not in a color scheme I liked (vain as that may be, it's still really important to me). In all honesty, I've never had a problem picking out comfortable running shoes all by myself in the past. Likely won't return. read more

I am definitely a beginner runner and admitted that as soon as I got into the store. However, I didn't feel like they looked down on me at all or treated me like any less of a valued customer. The gentleman who helped me listened to what I was interested in, my level of performance, and the issues I had been having, and also checked my gait/stride and measured my feet. He picked out about 8 pairs of shoes in varying price ranges that he thought would be the best for me. I appreciated that he didn't just throw the most expensive pair at me and tell me I needed them. This also defintiely alleviated any concern I had that they would take advantage of my lack of knowlege or experience. I was able to choose an attractive and affordable pair of shoes. I ran in the shoes I chose last night and they work great and I can notice a difference from my old shoes. read more

Excellent customer service! I just moved here from Lincoln and needed some new running kicks. Lincoln has one of the best running stores, the Lincoln Running Company, so I had high expectations when I walked in, and Peak Performance deliver. My sales associate considered the pair of shoes that I'd brought in and brought out some additional options. She also let me try on some of the newer styles, just to see what I thought. It was clear she had a very technical knowledge of running and the various types of shoes--as well as a familiarity with the nuances between the brands. Her recommendations were excellent and I ended up trying a new brand. Can't wait to get some miles on my new shoes and check out some of Peak's local running events. read more

As I said in my previous review, Peak Performance was the fist (and only) place I went over the weekend while I was looking for new running shoes. Seriously, can these people be ANY nicer? I said it before, I'll say it again. Their customer service is outstanding. Every time I have come in to the store, they have always been more than helpful! Having never actually been fitted for running shoes, I was excited to go through the full process with them. Before we got down to trying on shoes, Tyler (the sales associate I was working with) took a look at my feet and knees. He even watched me walk both away and towards him, so he could get a sense of how I walked. He then was able to match how I walk with a particular type of shoe. I never realized it, but their shoes are all labeled with different colors. As my "color" was green, Tyler told me I should pick from any of the shoes with a green label. I picked out several that I liked, and then we began trying on shoes. He had me try on different ones on each foot to compare how they felt. I jogged a lap around the indoor track to test them out. When I couldn't pick between my final two pairs of shoes, he was patient while I kept trying them over and over again. In the end I'm very happy with the shoes I got from here, and will absolutely be buying shoes from here in the future! Outstanding experience, once again! read more

Great running store! The staff has always been EXTREMELY helpful there. They will analyze your gait and help you choose the perfect pair of shoes. I always get blisters and breaking in shoes has always been a long, painful process. My first pair of shoes from Peak Peformance were the first pair of shoes I can remember that did not give me blisters! Now I do believe it when they say that you shouldn't have to break in shoes. They are extremely helpful and they offer several promotions including a 10% military discount, 15% discount if you are a member of the Omaha Running Club, and a free shoe program. I think it is something like you get your 6th pair free. They keep track of it in the computer so you don't have to carry a punch card for that discount. Great shoe buying experience, but I wish they had more inventory of clothing. read more

Peak Performance is hands-down the best running specialty store in town. The staff members take the time to focus on your specific needs and do their best to find the perfect shoe for you. Contrary to another reviewer's post, they absolutely cater to everyone from the casual walker to the weekend warrior. I've never felt slighted -- even though I no longer run but walk 30-35 miles a week. I won't buy my shoes from anywhere else. The shoes they sold me are completely wrong - caused me injury. Beware the "EXPERTS" Talked to the president yesterday - finally after 3 weeks. Someone emailed me and asked ME to call him????? I did and he is just as pompous as the salesman - he's been in this business for 16 years and some doctors really don't know shoes and feet (yeap - he knows more than the doc) blah, blah - wants me to come back in to "talk" about it - then he tells me Brooks Addiction is not a motion control shoe. WHAAA??? Check Road Runner Sport, Running Warehouse - or Runners World - the REAL experts. IT'S A MOTION CONTROL SHOE! Just runners that think they know more than you as a buyer. I came expecting a running gait analysis. The person had me walk for 20 seconds and that was my gait analysis, even after I enquired about an analysis for running. I did not feel like I gained very much from coming in and having a person walk me through the process, i.e. things were not personalized to me, my experience, or my concerns with running. Staff was friendly, and I entered with concern about foot pain. I ended up selecting a pair of shoes that were comfortable during a short run in the store... but once home, I had several foot pain. I went into the store and was told that since they were clearance, they were final sale. NO one told me that when I purchased the shoes, and I was very upset. I reached out to the store to see if there was anything they could do, and I received a 'sorry you have foot pain, but we cannot take the shoes back'. The shoes have been worn for less than 5 minutes on a treadmill. I will not be returning. I warn you of going there either! read more

For my past two pairs of running shoes, I've just purchased online from Brooks but was frustrated because my most recent pair wasn't working for me. Finally, just went into Peak Performance and was appreciative that they took the time to sit down, discuss my running habits, look at my old pairs of shoes, and work with me as I tried on over five different pairs of shoes. I found a type that really works for me and has alleviated some pain while running, so very glad I went in to the store. Their prices were right on track with Brooks online pricing (or larger stores in town), the staff knows 10x more than some random person assigned to the shoe section at a larger sports store, so feel stupid for not coming here sooner. read more

Stopped in here last weekend to look for a new pair of running shoes. I've heard that PP does a wonderful job fitting you for running shoes, so I'd always planned on getting my next pair here, and they did not disappoint. Although they only had one person working on the floor, another employee came out from the back so that my husband and I could both have 1:1 attention. They did a gait analysis to determine the best type of shoe for my feet, and their handy color coding on their wall of shoes helps you know which ones will be best for you to pick from given your foot type (i.e., whether you pronate, supinate, need more padding, etc). I ended up finding several pairs that I loved, but decided on a pair of Brooks that I definitely wouldn't have come across or been drawn toward had I not been fitted and realized how great a match they were for my feet. Definitely a more expensive option than purchasing athletic shoes at Target or DSW, but if you're at least a semi-serious, it's more than worth the price you'll otherwise pay for all sorts of foot pain. Superior customer service, once again - I'll be purchasing shoes exclusively from PP from now on. read more
