The museum is well-maintained, clean, and organized across three floors of exhibits and historical displays. Since it's a self-guided experience, you can explore at your own pace. I'd estimate most visitors will spend about 1 to 1.5 hours here, though history buffs could easily spend closer to two hours. After touring the museum, be sure to stop by the gift shop, which offers a wide selection of Dr Pepper memorabilia and merchandise. Needless to say, I left with more than a few items. One of the highlights of the visit is the complimentary soda included with admission. Each ticket comes with a voucher that can be redeemed at the soda fountain, where the drink is prepared right in front of you. After the disappointment of the outside appearance you will be pleased to find the inside is packed with culture! They've covered A LOT of culture from around the world and done it in a well organized manner that's easy to follow. Lots of authentic items as well. The first thing you're likely to notice here is the dog. I hope you like playing with dogs, because the little black Boston terrier in this place is going to bring you toys and expect you to throw them. His little black body is going to blast and shake his way back and forth across the room the entire time you're there. He cares not for art. He cares for play. If you're at all like me, once you managed to lure the hyper little dog close enough to a wall to actually look at the art, you're going to be delighted. I've gone to contemporary art museums, trying to make myself a better person in some way, and spent the whole time trying to understand... anything... really. I read information about the artists and what they're trying to portray, and my brain makes a noise like "buh" and shuts down. Here, though, the art is simply delightful. When we went, there were sideshow posters and paintings like old tattoos. There were small pieces based on elaborate displays of bad puns and large moving displays made of toothpicks. There was cute jewelry like the silver necklace my wife bought with the pendant that just says "blah blah blah." Everything is fun and whimsical and punctuated by the excited grunts of a tiny dog dropping a Gumby toy at your feet. The owners seemed very happy to discuss any of the pieces with us, and knew all about the artists who had created the art. I think they stayed open longer just because we walked in when we did, and at no point did we seem rushed to get out. We felt very welcome and enjoyed every minute of our visit to Webb Gallery. If I ever find myself in the area on a slow weekend afternoon again, I will certainly be stopping in to see what's in their gallery next.

There is also a bird in a cage that lives in there. He is loud and loves attention. Down the hall there is a gender neutral restroom and then the room that holds all the animals/reptiles. The room was small and had many habitats inside. I must say the selection of things to see was awesome! And the presentation of feeding the dragons, lizards, snakes and everything else was totally cool. My three year old loved it!! She was able to help feed and pet many of the reptiles. Just a tip...bring a bug catcher and you could walk away with a walking stick bug! We were bummed when we couldn't take one home. Happy Yelping!

As a National Park enthusiast, I was really excited to learn this site wasn't too far from my…read morefriend's house and so I was ecstatic to visit Waco Mammoth National Monument while in Texas. I'm also glad I happened to bring my National Park passport (you just never know!) Anyway, Waco Mammoth is definitely one of the more unusual units of the National Park System I've visited but also worth the visit!!! The history behind the site is fascinating. After two men discovered bones in 1978, researchers from Baylor University and other institutions began excavating the area and quickly realized they had uncovered something incredible! More and more fossils were found and in 2015 my guy President Obama established the site as an official unit of the National Park System. Though, one thing visitors should know ahead of time is that even though this is a National Park Service site, our America the Beautiful passes do NOT work here. General entry to the park grounds is free, but there is a separate fee to enter the dig shelter because it is operated in partnership with the City of Waco to help support preservation efforts. The actual dig shelter is absolutely the highlight of the experience, though you'll need to join a guided tour led by a docent. Hopefully you end up with one who is especially knowledgeable and enthusiastic because that really makes the experience come alive. I loved seeing the nation's first and only recorded evidence of a nursery herd of Colombian Mammoths from the Ice Age! So neat. At least 19 mammoths were discovered and the jury (err, scientists) are still out on how exactly these mammoths came to be trapped at this site/the reasoning for their passing. Anyway, this is a fascinating stop and absolutely worth visiting if you're in the Waco area, especially if you enjoy history, science, paleontology, or just visiting National Park units. It's not a full-day destination by any means, but it's definitely educational, memorable, and offers something very different from the typical national park experience!
