This was an amazing tour. The fact it is in a renovated church adds a unique aspect to this tour. I loved hearing the history of the founders, the church, and the restoration process. The actual whiskey making part of the tour is what you would expect to hear from a whiskey tour (not too many different ways to add flair when all whiskeys pretty much start the same). I enjoyed this whiskey more than others in Dublin. I actually brought some back for my brother since he is a big whisky fan! Karoline was an amazing guide. She was very knowledgeable and very receptive to questions. I will definitely be recommending this tour to anyone going to Dublin! read more

A tad odd I I but came to be a warming story. It's very modern in many ways and initially that set me back a bit. Hearing the story of the property and the former church being reclaimed and saved from ruin was a warming story. Our tour guide was exceptional and the depth of explanation was excellent. I was so excited to tour this distillery in Dublin because my maiden name is Lyons. The history of the church and how it came to be a distillery was really cool but everything good I have to say ends there. They do not sell the cute little tasting glasses (or give them away with the price of the tour as they should!), their spirits were mediocre at best, the tour guide was quite rude when people asked questions, the pores were super tiny, and the gift shop did not have anything even I would want to buy and I'm quite the shopper. I was also so excited about the opportunity to buy something with my name on it, but they did not have anything worth buying. read more

This was the first of our Whiskey tours in Ireland. Located in an old section of Dublin, the family decided to open the distillery in an old abandoned church. Renovating the Church and turning it into a legal distillery cost over 28 million Euros. The tour itself wasn't great. You can't see the factory but they take you through a series of exhibits. When you buy your tickets you choose the tasting option you want. We were able to taste 4 whisky's. They did offer a good selection and the whiskey master knew a lot about whiskey. We liked them all but could taste subtle differences. My preference is to see the whiskey making process and not have it simply described. They were very nice, the tour simply didn't give me what I expected. read more

Set up in a reconstructed church, this place is a really unique experience for whiskey lovers and anyone simply interested in the history of the building. We got the €30 tour that included 5 whiskey tastings plus a bonus tasting of one of their gins, all of which were delicious. The guide was knowledgeable and easy to listen to. The aesthetics of the church were quite beautiful from the appropriately designed stained glass windows depicting the distilling process to the distinctive glass steeple spire. If you love trying new whiskeys and learning about history, I highly recommend setting an hour or two aside for the tour when you're in Dublin. read more

Being from Kentucky and with Alltech Brewing in Lexington, we couldn't pass up visiting this distillery. So many similarities at this distillery compared to the one here at home. Pearse Lyons really put a lot of money into making his distilleries a success. From the welcome center staff, our tour guide/tasting personnel then to "Spicy" James that works in the gift center...everyone was super friendly. We even got to meet the Master Distiller and talk to him. The history with this particular distillery and it being located in "The Liberties" is something for the books. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect from this but the description was intriguing. It's not a huge place nor a long tour, but it is interesting. They not only show you their whiskey making process (and the tasting is worthwhile) but you also get a fair bit of history of Dublin and why they set up shop in a church next to an 800 year old graveyard. Worth spending the hour. Lovely guide Emma was super friendly and informative. Also got a gin tasting of Ha'Penny Pot Still Gin, which is worth trying. read more

We did this tour after Jameson and Teeling distillery tours. Loved it for the cause and the reconstruction of the church. The family has invested so much of their money into resurrecting the cemetery behind the church and recovering the history behind it all. The tasting tour was fabulous, beautiful church and the whiskey was excellent. We had Bernard and James as our guides. Uniquely located in a deconsecrated church, this newest Irish whiskey distillery is on the west end of town, just behind the Guinness Storehouse. A beautiful mix of old and new, the entrance and offices, as well as the very new spire, are done in glass and contrast wonderfully with the 1860's St. James church and cemetery. Last used in the mid nineties (I believe) there are over 100,000 people buried there, including a few of Dr Pearse Lyon's family members. Take the tour and learn about some of these people, as well as a brief history of getting rich by grave robbing, and the mysterious treasures found there. The distillery itself is a boutique endeavor, housed in the church, with the stills located at the altar. The windows have all been redone, the stained glass now depicting a variety of images including St James, the stills, and whiskey making ingredients; the front and rear's color coincide with the rising and setting sun to bring out the most incredible colors. James (our barman) was one of the most knowledgable people I've met in terms of distilling; and Emma was a delightful tour guide. And their product is good! read more

Dublins newest distillery, but one with a great future ahead! You can see from the very start that no money has been spared, super set up, really attentive and friendly staff, knowledge too. Lovely to see how much care, attention and respect was taken regarding the adjoining graveyard, got to look after the 100,000 buried there I guess! What a unique experience. This distillery, that was first started in Kentucky by an Irishman, has this new St. James location. It is set in a deconcecrated church that the company has spent much time and money restoring. They are currently at work rehabbing the cemetery that is full of archeological finds and important clues to Ireland's past. Do this tour. Do this tour even if you're not a fan of whiskey. What an amazing location, experience, and history lesson! The distillery is a centuries-old Protestant church in the Liberties district of the city, near Guinness brewery and the Roe distillery, the part of town once known as "The Silicon Valley of Booze." In between the corporate office and the distillery is a graveyard that still sports dozens of headstones, some of them as old as the church. Inside the church you will see two stills sit where the altar once was, stained glass windows celebrate the whiskey heritage of the region, a small tasting area, and a gift area. That's it. Just a wonderfully unique spot and definitely worth a visit. read more

GORGEOUS distillery in Dublin. Most people tour Jameson but our driver recommended Pearse Lyons for a much more local experience. This is located in an old church and is converted to a distillery. We went here on our honeymoon and it has truly stuck with us both. We've praised Pearse Lyons whiskey here in the states every chance we get, to the consequence of most of our friends accusing us of forsaking our home state's gem of Jack Daniels! Pearse Lyons quickly became a favorite in our household and we will keep it in our household for as long as I can foresee. It's fantastic and so are the people who work at the distillery. We enjoyed our experience here more than any other distillery we went to while in Ireland. I cannot recommend Pearse enough. The only regret I have is that we didn't taken home a bottle of their gin as well! read more

We had such a wonderful time at the Pearse Lyons distillery. We didn't know what to expect, as it's such a new brand, but we couldn't have been happier. Our tour guide, Sheila, was so charming and informative -- we could have spent all day in her sunny presence! Niall was a great barkeep and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the whiskey (as well as some fantastic gins we didn't even know they made). Best of all was the amazing and storied history of the location and the way they've integrated the business into the restoration of a beautiful old church. Hugely recommended -- we're so grateful for our visit and wish them all success in making a name for their fine product. read more

This was an unexpected find after the Guinness Tour! Not sure what to expect, but what a wonderful surprise. The intrigue of a distillery being in a church was fun and ironic. The tastings were exceptional. The gin made the best g&t's. The only downfall is I can't get the gin in the US. The whiskey's were also exceptional and still enjoying those! If you want something that isn't quaint and laid back along with really enjoying a good whiskey and a great gin... try this out! read more

My husband and I are so happy with our tour and experience at this disterilly. Our hotel had recommended this tour so we decided to purchase our tour tickets last minute. When arriving at the disterilly, the front desk was very welcoming and the tour guide was great. When entering the church/disterilly we were blown away with how beautiful it was inside and how well the company created the disterilly. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the process for making whiskey, in addition, he also made it fun. He gave background on the process of redoing the church and the history. When it came time to taste the whiskies we were given a sheet that described each whiskey. We thought that was awesome and helpful for those that may not drink whiskey often (myself). The female bartender was also great and very personable. We enjoyed our time and each person was respectful, fun, and personable. The whiskey was also very tasty. We highly recommend touring this disterilly. This disterilly will continue to grow in Dublin. read more
