We originally just made the stop for the homemade fudge but we found some other texas items we couldn't leave without! I bought fudge, texas pot holder and hand towel, local honey and apple preserves as well as Duke Cannon gun smoke soap. The fudge was divine! They have a buy four get two free deal big you're looking to buy for a group. There's a Texas section for the kitchen, shirts, cups and knick knacks. I was really impressed with the preserves selection which also had red pepper jelly and other homemade canned foods. It was kind of hard to decide which one to pick, they all sounded yummy. This was a fun stop and I REALLY wish I had $400 to buy a rocking chair, so comfy and would go great on my porch. read more

First time I have ever been to this place but will definitely not the last. Food was terrific, (had chicken salad) and a whole lot more fudge than I ever needed but totally finished it all. The service was just as good as the food. Two ladies behind the food counter went out of their was to help us and the young man at the register was also very friendly and helpful. Stopped by to get some food for the kids as it was recommended by the hotel clerk next door. They no longer serve food which was ok. Found a small CHILDRENS straw hat. Tag on it said $4.99. Cool I will get it for my grandson. The young lady didn't see the tag and said "no tag... ok well it's $17.99" I corrected her and showed her the tag. My husband asked her if she doesn't see a tag does she automatically just guess on a price and she said yes. Bad practice if you ask me. read more

During our time in Wichita Falls, we visited the Pecan Shed twice. We bought and really enjoyed a fudge sampler and a couple of bags of Praline Pecans. For all of that it would be four stars. On one of the visits, I bought a large (4 lb) bag of pecan pieces. I like to snack on raw pecans and thought this would be a good place to try them. I could see that the kernels were large, telling me that they were a domesticated variety. When I asked what variety, I received a kind of roundabout answer, but understood that it was a blend. I interpreted that to mean it was whatever they had. Since we visited in May 2012, they obviously were 2011 crop and were clearly labeled as such I did not open this bag until a few days after returning home. This is where the one star rating comes in. I happen to be one of those people who, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, can taste rancidity. As I sit and eat a handful of these pecans, about one out of every ten pieces is rancid. Some are worse than others. Some have a hint that makes you think about it and some are full on nasty, spit it out, mouth coating rancid. 2011 crop should not be rancid. These were either improperly stored or are older than 2011. I consider this inexcusable for a business that sells pecans as its lifeblood. I can understand it if I buy a dust covered bag out of a gas station window. Beyond that, the ones that are not rancid are pretty flavorless. They are large and plump and look pretty on top of your pie but unfortunately all pecan varieties are not equally flavored. These will require toasting to have flavor. I grew up eating Iowa hickory nuts (same genus carya, different species) and more recently I have been using native pecans from Missouri. They have so much more flavor, there is no comparison. I could tolerate weak flavor if they were not rancid. I will probably just throw the bag away and chalk it up to experience. Don't buy the big bag until you have tried a representative sample. read more

This is the greatest stop you could make!! The staff is absolutely incredible and helpful. Everything is homemade and delicious. Cinnamon rolls, BLT's, scones, sandwiches, fudge, and a ton of other yummy treats. Went their on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and purchased a 10" pecan pie for $ 19.95 and a lb of chocolate pecans and a lb of praline pecans $12.95 each. Not as busy as I thought it would be. Large selection of different types of nuts in 1/2 lb and 1 lb bags. Also gift items. Plenty of parking and very unique rocking chairs outside of entrance. read more

What a nice little store. They made us feel so welcomed. They have a very large selection of everything Texas, however they do not have Dallas Cowboys merchandise....which was what I was after. They also have a wonderful selection of fudge and they will offer you a sample to set you at ease for what you were able to buy. read more

Best flavored pecans I've ever had. I wish they weren't so pricy, but they really are the best. Toasted honey ones are my favorite. They also have some really cute gift shop type things. I bought a bottle of brisket sauce and a bad of pecan coffee to try. Hopefully those stack up as well! read more

I am taking the time to leave this review as I noticed that the only review about The Pecan Shed was negative. Over the last ten years I have bought 100's of pounds of the best pecans you will find in Texas or Georgia from The Pecan Shed. The flavor, quality, and assortment of products are as good as it gets. I work hard for my money and I do not spend my money foolishly. I have friends who have bought from The Pecan Shed many times with no complaints. The person that left the negative review stated "I happen to be one of those people who, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, can taste rancidity". Is this statement their claim to fame to be one of the few in their mind that has the power to know when something is rancid. I have never got anything from the Pecan Shed but the freshest, best tasting products. Some people are put on this earth you simply cannot please...I think we have found one in the negative reviewer from Chesterfield, Mo. Awesome store especially if you are looking for gifts/souvenirs. It's a cute store to even window shop while you try some samples of their fudge and pecan brittle. Being that I'm moving home to California soon... I wanted to get some good ole' knick knacks and southern food before heading back (as gifts for my loved ones, including myself!). This store had a huge variety! Key chains, shot glasses, stuff animals, Hello Kitty with ATM gear, postcards, etc... What I was most interested in was their food/desserts!! They had awesome flavored coffee like pecan and red velvet. All sorts of good ole' Texas hot sauces. Lots of different flavored jam, even Jalapeno jam! They had different flavored pecans (praline, chocolate, etc), what caught my eyes were the bourbon flavored pecans and Jack Daniels Whiskey pecans. Obviously, they had pralines! (Really expensive though, almost $3 a piece... in New Orleans you can get them $1/piece... then again, we're not in New Orleans). And one of my favorite was the jalapeno flavored pecan brittle, initially it tasted like any other pecan brittle, then you taste a nice kick of spice at the end. Awesomeness! I bought two bags cuz I liked it that much (and so will my loves ones). One 6oz. Bag of them were $6. Enjoy!! read more

If you go in to the Pecan Shed, and you don't try their fudge covered strawberries, you are really missing out. These are by far, the best I've ever tried. I got a dozen for my wife for Mother's Day, and they were awesome! They have many other products, and quite a few different flavors of fudge. Cleanest bathrooms on 287. For real. I missed the turn we usually take, and ended up stopping here. Clean, spacious restrooms, lots of cute stuff to browse, and yummy pecan products and fudge!
