I had a TERRIBLE time finding a place to live in Lawton. The market changed dramatically (for the…read moregood!) after significant housing was completed on post. Summer of 2011, I was desperate - finished w/ permissive TDY and no place to live. Fortunately, a very nice lady told me about the New Hope Cottages located by Cameron. The development begins on A Ave and goes over to E Ave. There are duplexes, quads and apartments. There are several different owners and they do range in price and amenities. I lived in two different places in New Hope. A couple of key points - 1) All relatively new and good repair - they are all less than 3 years old. New places are SO much easier to maintain, keep clean (since they are new) and look nice. 2) Security Systems - some have security systems and some do not. Mine both did and it was a quality system monitored via ADT. I would not have lived there w/o one - only cost $20 a month. 3) Garage - Again, I would not leave my car sitting out (really anywhere in Lawton), but each duplex has a one car garage. I know one car garages can be a little tight and a few of the places have two car garages. 4) Lawn Maintenance - I am not above doing yard work, but since I mowed and raked more than my fair share of lawns as a kid, I am not inclined to do any more! Lawn care is included in the lease. 5) The owners - as stated above, the duplexes, quads and apartments are owned by several different families. The owners were great and helpful during the few minor issues I had and never tried to rip me off with my deposits. It's always good to work and deal with honest people! I took one star off only due to the location. The area has been cleaned up significantly by this development.

So we have lived there for 3yrs always paid rent on time. We kept the place decent considering…read morehaving two kids under 3. Anyways, husband had orders to PCs ocunus. We gave the notice and when it came closer to move out date we requested an inspection so that way we would know ahead of time if there where anything we would need to pay for or if there was any damage which there really wasn't. Only thing was carpet was needing to be removed for sure. The "inspector" said we had nothing to worry about and we would get the deposit back and the carpet cleaning will have to come out. He said not to worry about anything else. While out of the country we received a letter to our temp forward address of our bill. Mind you we did clean but I did not leave it in better condition Then when we moved in. Mind you I know the carpet is bad and the oven wasn't perfect and I didn't not do a perfect job dusting. But everything else was clean. So I understood that charge. We got charge for a paint job close to 300$ when our "inspector" told us not to worry about it. (Made by our tv mount). And we got charge for the washer/dryer door that we had removed because our washer and dryer wouldn't-have fit. We were told they were missing. So we got charge for it, when we left it in the closet. I know for a fact. We paid nearly 700$ for full month rent when we moved out on the 5th and were still billed an extra 300$ something.

A- OK if you like cheap rent…read more I used to live across Lawton in Legends Park Apartments which was a rip off. I moved to Ross Estates to save money. They had a military special for $575 a month for a year. That is a steal especially coming form paying 1K + for rent, on top of that utilities and water. Pros of Ross Estates: 1. Dirt Cheap Rent 2. Good Maintenance Team.. I usually have someone come within 24 hours 3. Good House Keeping Staff 4. Quiet Neighborhood in Lawton 5. No flooding on the roads to get too and from the apartment 6. Good location 7. I have not had a problem with the management. Joe was great. The new people are agreeable. Cons: 1. The walls are very thin. You can hear you next door neighbors from the kitchen, and bathroom walls 2. The walls. You can hear your upstairs neighbors I never have any problem paying my rent here. I send a check directly to the "central" apartment company

-This review is highly relevant…read more I have lived here for a 11 months now. In this time frame I have pleaded with the management to finish my closet and bathroom trim, it looks horrid and smells like mildew. It's just unfinished Sheetrock hanging. Now, after 11 months of living here my kitchen sink is not operating because they came into the apartment and turned it off. They found that some questionable work was done on the draining system in the building. Needless to say, I have been without water in my kitchen for over a week now. And each time I ask when the repairs will be made, I am lied too. But hold on, I'm not finished unfortunately. In the apartment, half of the electrical outlets Do Not Work, some don't even outlet covers. This was supposed to be done along with the above mentioned unfinished trim. The hot water line also had work done on a few weeks after I moved in, I used to enjoy 15-20 minute showers like a normal person. Now, the hot water will last all of 4 minutes, if you are lucky. The reason being is that I'm almost certain the maintenance guy that was fired did some janky work and routed the lines of another apartments hot water to mine instead of replacing my hot water heater. I know this to be true because my downstairs neighbors and I have discussed that when one of us takes a shower at the same time in our own respective apartments, that the hot water immediately runs out. (I'm a pipe fitter, I have an understanding of how this works) I know that this review will more than likely be looked over by management here. But if I can save just one decent person or family from living through this same awful situation. Then the time writing this review was well worth it. In the chance that mgmt does see this, please, make all these horrible things right. Concerned, Taylor
