Hungry Donkey definitely satisfied our desire for some Greek food the other night. The menu had all…read morethe highlights we were looking for though was a bit pricier than we might've hoped. Best way to approach the menu is to order a handful of meze, don't go for the large plated options as they're definitely the priciest and limits the ability to try different things. We started with saganaki, a classic but oh so good. This was the best dish we ordered. Tasty, not overly oily, crispy outer crust. We also had the pork sausage and lamb plate. The pork sausage was ok but honestly nothing special. It came with standard yellow mustard. The lamb plate was ok as well, similarly nothing all that special. The lamb was rather fatty and the flavor was good but it just needed more of the seasoning. The little side salad that it came with was not worth eating, it was quite bitter. Neither was bad, just not worth getting again. Might try again, but would order more small plates and more saganaki.

Don't be fooled by the sketchy neighborhood this place is nice. My hubby made reservations, but…read morewhen we walked in (around 630 PM) we were the first ones there. The staff greeted us and we picked our spot. The place is done up pretty nicely and is very clean. I ordered the beef kabob plate and hubby ordered some stewed beef on top on fries plate. We were both happy with our meals and our service. By the time we were done a few more tables filled up, but given how nice, good, and clean it was I'd except more people to be in there. Give them a try, I'm sure you will enjoy their Greek meals.

We saw the desserts they had for takeaway, which were not all on the dessert menu, but they allowed us to order them anyway. We had a lovely meal for our last night in London.

Good spot for Middle Eastern / Mediterranean inspired dishes with a nice environment. Mains: Chicken Pastilla - This was my favorite dish of the meal, as the chicken and other ingredients were enclosed within this crispy exterior - very tasty. Lamb Kofta - This was basically like lamb sausages, which were good but nothing that special, although the sauce did add some nice flavor as well. Sides (or as they call them, salads): Aubergine - Came with 2 slices of aubergine; I liked the white sauce on top which gave it a little extra creamy flavor Cauliflower- Very standard so not much to comment on here Mushrooms - Pretty nice pairing with the lentils as well Butternut Squash - Well cooked with some parmesan shavings on top My main issue here was the value, as each combo of main + 2 sides costs 29.50 GBP, and the portion sizes were rather small (refer to my photo). In fact, they even combined 2 sides into 1 small plate because the portions were so small. The interior is very nice though, as it is an elegant yet minimalistic type of design. It wasn't too busy for lunch even on a weekend. The staff are fairly friendly and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, the pros of Ottolenghi are that the food is pretty good and the environment is nice. However, the cons are that the portion sizes are small (so value might not be great) and the lunch menu is fairly limited. Therefore, all things considered, I am giving Ottolenghi 4 stars.
