And gives it new life for someone that doesn't want the antique look but wants to keep it. I am all for repurposing and preventing things from being dumped. They have an array of decor from old to new. They also have a huge selection of Otis P candles and wax melts. That is what brings me in. The story behind Otis P is a cause I will support. I have found the staff to be very kind. We have been in twice and communicated via FB and all three people were nothing but kind. They are great about posting furniture pieces on FB so it is nice to browse from home. Great place!

Seeing some truly great antique pieces destroyed with paint is always heart breaking. The selection is confusing and not well organized. The owner? employee? that greeted us was a bit pushy and made us feel like we were at a car dealership. Not the store for us.

There are lots of great things to be found here but they're entirely dependent upon luck. You might come for days and find nothing good, then find something amazing in the first 10 minutes another time. Be prepared for dubious substances, slime, broken glass, and lots of garbage. Wear gloves if you think you need them. Be prepared for people to shove you out of the way to get something they want or, alternatively, stand 3 inches away and give you the stink eye while you dig through a bin they want to look in. As other reviewers have said, the people working there often just make up prices. This can sometimes work out in your favor but often leads to overpaying, especially if they make you weigh the cart. Whatever weight they have put in for the carts is not accurate at all and will lead to you paying extra 99 times out of 100. Seriously, this place is not for the faint of heart. Or nose. If you're a hardcore thrifter looking for your next treasure, it's absolutely worth the visit. Just make sure you bring some hand sanitizer!

I was so impressed with the store that I did some thrift thing for the first time in a couple of decades. The staff was super helpful and kind, most folks there are volunteers. I was able to find a pin striped suit that fit me for $30. All I have to do is get the pants hemmed because I am short. I also got a couple of shirts, including a KC Royals shirt for five dollars because I didn't have one. Students and teachers get discounts on Friday and seniors 55+ get 25% off on Wednesdays. I love that this store works with people who are transitioning from being unhoused to housed and they let them come in and select whatever they need for their new place with no charges. For this reason, we will be making all of our donations at Hillcrest thrift store from now on.

Take a 10 minute drive on Metcalf Avenue to Glenwood Antique Mall or Couches to Curios. The little old lady at Couches to Curios is amazballs.
