Had a super fun time on the Pedal Wagon last Saturday for my friend's birthday! If you've never done a Pedal Wagon before, it's basically a man powered bar that you can drink on, that takes you to other bars where you can also drink. Being on the pedal wagon and biking around, enjoying the outdoors, blasting music, and waving at strangers on the street while we drank...what a great way to spend a Saturday! My only complaint was that our driver was not really a tour guide...I seemed to know more about bars in OTR than he did, so you might want to come with some ideas of where you want to go before you get there. We ended up doing Lachey's, Sundry & Vice, and Neon's because we were trying to get a variety of bars to please everyone. They had drink specials at Lachey's and Sundry and Vice for Pedal Wagon users, but they said they didn't have any specials at Neon's (apparently they normally do, so this might have been a mistake on Neon's part). Not too pricey if you split it between 15 people (less than $25/person for a 2 hour bar crawl). Great way to spend a birthday or just a normal Saturday. read more

FINALLY we were able to take a ride on the pedal wagon! Myself and a group of friends reserved our spots on the pedal wagon for my birthday this year on September 4th. We tried to go last year but due to severe weather it was cancelled and we all our money was refunded. This year though the weather was perfect and gorgeous for a pub crawl on the wagon through downtown. Our departure time was scheduled for 7pm and since we were going on a Sunday, our only tour option was the downtown tour. On Friday and Saturday where they run in different parts of the city. I'm not sure if it like this for all tours but once we boarded our guide asked us where we wanted to go. A lot of bizzes were closed due to the Fireworks, it being a sunday and the Labor Day holiday. He suggested some places and really didn't force us to stay within one area. Our stops ended up being Lachey's (chosen by the group of St. Louis visitors), Taft's Ale House and then The Flying Pig. This is a great idea for anyone visiting the Queen City and I would recommend anyone who has lived here all their lives to go at least one. It's a unique way to explore the city, see new places and of course, drink! On our tour the other party was a group visiting from St. Louis. It was fun talking about some of the places they have been so far and suggesting some of our favorite things about our city. They were excited to spot our Rhinegeist brews we brought on board as they were at the brewery earlier that day. Make sure you read the rules before you hop on board! You get to bring 3 canned beers on per rider or a box of wine. You can pre-order drinks to be there when you arrived but basic options are what you can choose from so we opted out. Ice and coolers and provided for all your drinks and BRING SNACKS! We also had my phone hooked up to their stereo all night, choosing our playlist all night as we peddled. Just a tip - apparently the last stop is your final stop. Like they don't hang around and you find your own way back to your car parked by their warehouse. We didn't expect or know that and we have a lot of treats and birthday cupcakes with us, our guide was gracious enough to offer to take us back to the warehouse and skip out on the last bar crawl. Each bar stop is around 30 minutes and once the group arrives back at the wagon, off you go to the next stop! Total time is estimated at two hours but ours took much longer (which we were not mad at). This IS a workout. It is not as easy as it looks but it fun. Wear comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes. It's fine by me if you want to be fun and goofy with us, but he proceeded to "break check" us quite a few times... I did the Pedal Wagon with a few friends on a Saturday afternoon. We were in a mixed group with some strangers. You are allowed to bring 3 beers, but they can only be consumed on the wagon. After a brief safety and rules talk we were off. I cracked a beer and started pedaling. The first stop was Arnold's. I finished the rest of my beer so we could go in to the bar. I hopped off and walked inside to discover that Arnold's was not open for another hour. I really wanted to try the Arnold's pedal wagon special, but had to pass on it because the driver apparently doesn't check ahead when bars open. So we hopped back on the wagon and I opened another beer. Next stop was KnockBack Nat's, which thankfully was open. I was still full from chugging a beer 5 minutes before so I left my half finished beer on the wagon. Nat's was great. They had a bucket deal and free popcorn. After a half hour or so we got back on the wagon and headed to Igby's. Which was closed. Our pedal wagon group, while clearly frustrated at a second bust, decided to make the best of the situation and walked across the street to Nicholson's. This was a nice Scottish style bar complete with kilt wearing servers. We were pleasantly surprised by a bagpiper leading a group of St Patrick's day revelers into the bar shortly after we arrived. Last stop was Lachey's. At this point the tour is over. You can head into Lachey's if you like, or walk a block back to the Pedal Wagon parking lot to leave. I went in with my friends, but declined to drink so I could sober up for the drive home. Overall I'd say this was a pretty fun way to meet some strangers and hit a few bars. The lack of preparation by the driver was definitely frustrating. While my overall experience was positive, I'm giving a 2 star review to reflect how unprofessional it was to take a tour group to not one, but two closed bars. Pedal Wagon people, please do your homework on bar schedules before pedaling us all around town to find a place that's open. EDIT: I have increased my rating to 3 stars. The owner contacted me and gave a partial refund and future discount to make up for the mix up. read more

Oh, Pedal Wagon, how I love thee! I did the Tavern Tour for a birthday/bachelorette party. Two hours just isn't enough -- We wanted more! (When you really like something, you want more!) The beginning of the trip was uphill, and with only 6 people we were huffing and puffing a bit, but no biggie. Sure, you can't take drinks on the wagon (yet) which leads to a lot of chugging and that can get you into trouble! Stuart was our captain, and he was a delight. Not terribly hard on the eyes, either, if you know what I'm saying. (Amirite, ladies??) I want to try the Reds tour one day, and I must share this unique and super fun experience with as many people as humanly possible! read more

I would really like to bump this to a 4.5 rating - but unfortunately it's not an option. First - after learning about the battery issue, Pedal Wagon contacted the person who booked the tour and offered her a 50% refund for compensation. Who does that anymore?? Pedal Wagon does! We actually all agreed that the refund was not necessary, but just the offer was fantastic! This is a company who clearly cares about making their customers happy, and that is simply refreshing these days. I also received a message on Yelp from the manager apologizing for the battery mishap. And let me reiterate - we had a great time! The dead battery was just a small part of our experience. I highly recommend considering booking a tour with Pedal Wagon for your next family/friend get together or celebration. Outstanding customer service! read more

I was fortunate to take place in a Yelp event on the Pedal Wagon. We started at Neon's where everyone loaded/hopped onto the wagon and we pedaled down Sycamore to Arnold's, hung out there for a while and enjoyed the Pedal Wagon Special inside. After a bit of 'riding lubrication' we loaded back up in pursuit of the Lackman. We had some more drinks there, then half an hour later went to Japp's. I think there might have been an omission of MOTR on our journey because we had places to go and people to see. Nevertheless, this experience was fun, unique, and generally quite awesome. The Yelp group helped with this, I'm sure, but what an great addition to the OTR area. Our guide (whose name I am woefully forgetting) was great. He shared some info, he cranked good tunes, and most importantly navigated us safely through the crazily driven streets of downtown Cincinnati. On the pedal wagon everyone pedals, with the exception of a back bench and two seats that don't have operable pedals (good for preemptive calorie burning prior to reaching the bar ;)). There is a motor assist for hills, but it's a nice challenge to keep it going and work together as a team without this. The driver navigates and pulls over as needed, as to not piss off too many drivers. Part of the fun to watch the cars, really, but all done respectfully, of course. At times I felt famous, as people stared, pointed, jeered (happily), and took pictures of us. We. were. famous. It was great. People, understandably, were quite fascinated by this monster bicycle/boat contraption in the streets...and I hope that I see it around one of my evenings out so I can brag about my own jaunt around town. The wagon is also doing historical tours, which would be nice, but I think the big win is for biking and going to bars...it was a lot of fun. You can join a group or book it for a party. I'm thinking this could make a great bachelorette evening?!?! Thanks Yelp for this great ride and thanks to the Pedal Wagon for adding such a cool feature to the city. Though it is $30 a head if you go as an individual, there might be a price reduction if you rent the whole thing out. A big of a splurge, perhaps, but when have YOU ever been on a bike for 15 in the middle of the street listening to the best of jams from the 80's and 90's. I mean, really....just go. read more

I've been on the pedal wagon twice now and had a blast on each occasion. I managed to score 25% off a private wagon last year and finally got my friends to come together last Saturday for a ride. Note: The wagons book quickly so make sure to book in advance and lock the date down for your group. We really wanted to go to Taft's Ale House, so we went to Lachey's, Tafts and ended at Neons. Most people drank all three of the beers they brought as well. Having a person ride as the bartender also proved to be very helpful as the driver does not serve beers to the riders. Our driver Brian was very high energy and helped us get the party started. Could not say enough good things about him. Make sure you wear good shoes to pedal! We definitely had to pedal hard to get the wagon moving, two out of the 12 seats did not have pedals at all so the rest of the peddlers had to work to get that battery charged. read more

I had a really great experience on Pedal Wagon, and I owe it all to the company and our driver! I've always seen these things driving around OTR and downtown and had literally been looking for an excuse to get a group together, and what better way to celebrate my birthday than with 13 of my closest friends pedaling around OTR? Our driver, Ben, warned us it was only his second trip driving "solo," but we would've guessed he had been doing it for years! With a wagon full of girls, he was obviously in for a real treat. He informed us we could spend the 2 hours however we'd like (we opted for more time at the bars and less time pedaling, but it was so much fun that I wouldn't have minded if we never got off the Pedal Wagon!) We also lucked out and got a newer Pedal Wagon with an engine (I'm told they don't all have one), so the pedaling effort was minimal. I loved that they had a cord to hook up your own music and the fact you could BYOB. The wagon itself doesn't go very fast, but we had a great time waving to everyone driving by while blasting Justin Timberlake. Not all the bars we went to had drink specials for us (we went to Half Cut, Low Spark and Neon's), but it hardly mattered considering we had more than enough to drink on the wagon itself. I'm already looking for another excuse to book my next wagon... do half birthdays count as a reason to celebrate? read more

Welp, I finally jumped on the bandwagon (pun intended) and tried out the whole pedal bar phenomenon! For a friends' 21st birthday in Cincinnati, I joined a group of 15 for a bar crawl through Over The Rhine's bar scene via Pedal Wagon. The two hour event was a great way to see fun great bars and get recommendations about other cool spots in the area. I loved the BYOB concept, it was great to bring our own drinks to enjoy on the wagon while traveling from bar to bar. Our guide, Joe, was great! He made sure we were all having a fun time pedaling away and gave us great recommendations on nearby bars to check out. He was knowledgeable on different deals certain bars had (for instance Radio City offers a $2 discount on frozen drinks to Pedal Wagoners) and gave us his recommendations at some locations (he was right, the Taft Ale House pretzels did not disappoint!) The wagon itself was great too! It was modeled after those used in Holland and had plenty of storage room for purses and belongings as well as a recycling bin for all of our empty cans/bottles #gogreen. The beginning/end spot of the activity is at a central location Downtown and a prime location to find an uber or taxi. Bar hopping via Pedal Wagon is a great way to celebrate a 21st, bridal shower, bachelor party as well as a fun summer activity--I'd absolutely recommend. read more

I've done these before in other cities and they are usually great. This one was awful. There is no beer for sale anywhere near their location. I got there 20 minutes early and they couldn't point me in the direction of anyone who could sell any. Our driver was a complete moron. He couldn't figure out how to release the regular brake on his "third week working there" and then he made us take off up hill with the EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. All the while telling us we weren't pedaling hard enough. There was girl in the group that we didn't know and it turned out to be his girlfriend. She sat in a non-pedaling seat the whole time (yeah, dead weight) and he paid more attention to her than what he was supposed to be doing. All the bars are really close together in this area anyway, so I recommend a plain old bar crawl. read more

I was a little disappointed. Our guide did not interact with us at all, barely acknowledged we were there. Told us nothing about the city or the spots we were going to stop. This was such a fun thing to do with friends! We did the Tavern Cruise for a friends bachelorette party. We had a lot of things we wanted to do that day and night so we decided to go at 5:30 pm and were the only ones on the wagon. While I think it would have been more fun with a wagon full of people, the employee with us was really friendly and fun to talk to throughout the ride. I also liked that we could play our own music selection and he let us hang a "Bachelorette Party" across a row of seats. The only downfall wasn't their fault at all - due to Ohio laws we couldn't have alcoholic drinks on the actual wagon which would have made it just that much more fun :) read more

I was so excited to finally do the pedal wagon with some friends the other weekend, but was ultimately disappointed with the experience. We rented a 15 person wagon and went on the OTR tour. I thought our tour would take us on a planned route through OTR, but that wasn't the case. Little did we know, you have to pick the bars/locations you want to visit. This caused a quick moment of panic as we all tried to decide where we wanted to go. The nice part is that the pedal wagon has drink specials at almost all the bars in the area so you can't go wrong in that aspect. After some deliberation, we decided to hit up Queen City Radio and Tafts Ale House. We took advantage of the drink specials at Queen City Radio and got their boozy alcoholic slushies- their bourbon Arnold palmer slushy was great and also very strong. My other disappointment with the pedal wagon was that the tour was only two hours long - definitely not long enough. We were only able to stop at two different locations before our driver made us return. While I still had a good time, I think the pedal wagon experience can definitely be improved. My advice for future riders: 1. make sure your group decides what bars you want to stop at in advance 2. Bring alcohol with you - each person can bring 3 beers on the pedal wagon with them. The pedal wagon even provides ice and a cooler for you to store them in. 3. Designate someone in your group to be the DJ. Their is an aux cord and speakers on the pedal wagon that you can hook up to to play music. read more

I GUESS so... it was fun because my friends are fun and it was a beautiful night. But the Pedal Wagon experience itself left me kinda flat. They don't sell any drinks on the ride or at the meeting place. You can bring 3 drinks for yourself. Fine. We got there and they took the drinks from each of us to "count them" but just left them sitting out on a table in the sun. (I asked.. could you keep them on ice for us while you are waiting for everyone else to arrive? No... they "can't" do that because of some kind of license thing? Not really fine... but whatever.) You cannot drink anything you brought while you wait for the rest of your party (they don't have a license for that either). So you stand around in a garage in the blazing sun waiting to drink the couple of cans of your own beer you brought that used to be on ice. Fine. (not really) Oh, and everyone has to pay $4 per car to park there. Fine. We board the Pedal Wagon and the driver explains she can't touch your drinks while you are on the ride so someone in your party has to handle passing out any drinks. Fine. You cannot take any drink you have on the ride with you into any of the places you stop. Fine. You cannot take any drink you bought at the bar with you on the ride. Fine. What can we do? Well, we can pedal ourselves to bars and drink our own beer and play our own music and pay for our own drinks ($2 discounts on select drinks at each bar w/ your wristband) and have fun with the people you are with - and we did! The driver was nice. You are paying for her to steer and know where you are going and apply the break - all important, no doubt! if you've always wanted to do it, give it a try that way you'll know and can stop sayin "I always wanted to do that!" I rented the entire pedal wagon for a co-ed bridal party I threw. It was a fun way to travel to different bars without having to drive or walk. We took the "Globe Trotters" route, but the driver let us decide which bars we wanted to stop at. He also let us decided how long we wanted to be in each bar. A friend of mine was worried she would get too tired from pedaling, but it wasn't a problem because she could just stop pedaling her seat and rest while others were pedaling. There were also seats that did not have pedals. I loved the cardio, and I could even feel it the next day! Lots of people on the streets were looking and taking pictures, which made us feel pretty special. read more

SO MUCH FUN!!! There is nothing quite like pedaling in a 15-person cart up and down the streets of Cincinnati with LMFAO "Sexy and I Know It" playing...quite an experience!! I went on the Pub Crawl with about 8 of my friends and we had a blast!!! We stopped at 5 bars in total and received drink specials at 4 of the 5 (one of them was an infrequent stop and the company is still working out a drink special with them). Best special by far was at Arnold's, our first stop- we got this Mint Jubilee drink that was delicious and refreshing. The pedaling was not too strenuous, even uphill- my group managed just fine, even while we were kinda drunk. I had a bit of trouble pedaling, but that was due to my height (I'm 5'2"- my 5'5" husband had no problems). Our driver/tour guide was super friendly and upbeat the whole way- he made sure we knew what the specials were and how much time we had at each stop. The cart has speakers so you can blast music- you can play either a pre-made mix by the driver or your own music- my group opted for our own. The whole mix of pedal cart and blaring music makes you quite the spectacle so be prepared for lots of people staring, taking pictures of you, and occasionally dancing to your music. I booked the Pedal Wagon pub crawl for my boyfriend's birthday as a surprise. It was perfect! We brought some small bites to eat along the way, which came in handy and helped off set all of the drinking (we stopped at 4 bars total). Our driver, Tom, was very friendly and relaxed about the time table. At each stop he gave us an estimated amount of time to be in the bar, told us our drink special at that specific bar and then sat outside and waited for us to return. If your group is really speedy you can get to a fifth bar, but you really have to be chugging your drinks to make that happen. We enjoyed the ride and everyone had a blast! I am definitely going to book a tour with them again, it is a great way for non-Cincinnatian's to see the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood and at a pace that you can really enjoy and appreciate it. If it was fun in 100 degree weather it would be even more fun in any slightly cooler weather, so book a trip for you and your friends! read more

Really fun experience. I went for a birthday celebration and did a public ride with another group that was also celebrating a birthday. We we able to stand in the middle while friends peddled. We didn't actually have to pedal because we chose an electric wagon. Probably would've been more work if we didn't have that. The driver was very friendly. We stopped at three bars, the last bar being the drop off point. I believe our drinks were checked. The drinks were placed inside a cooler by the pedal employees. We stayed for about 30 minutes at the first two stops. There honestly wasn't much "touring" because the wagon moves slow and we stopped (it's a two hour ride). If you're drunk enough, you likely won't notice that you've only really traveled a few blocks. You're allowed to bring food on the wagon from bars but obviously not drinks. Overall it's a fun experience. I did an evening ride on a Saturday, so we were able to be a bit louder and more friendly with passerby. read more
