First let me say that I've had over 100 massages with over 30 different practitioners over the past 20 years (in California mostly, but in various other states as well) and request deep tissue work every time. I've only had 3 masseuses in Ames so far, but Cassandra was clearly outstanding (I gave my two other masseuses here 2/5 stars). Not only was she experienced and skilled, she actively applied her knowledge to great effect during the massage - paying attention, investigating, and reacting. Cassandra used superior hand/finger techniques and I don't remember her ever using her elbows (which is a shortcut most masseuses resort to, but which is avoided by the "top 2%" of masseuses). If you are in Ames definitely look her up! I saw her in August of 2015; she was working at Family Chiropractic and Wellness at 2629 University Blvd, although she had just moved there recently.

Also if you get a chair massage they are (or were) right next to the waiting area so I felt self conscious about that. I don't love that there aren't separate rooms, just partitions, but for the price and how good the massage is I will go back. (Update: the price went way up which is comparable to other massage places - so I might look for something else especially when the other places in town have better privacy) It was also frustrating when I called I couldn't make an appointment they said to just come in.

The massage made me feel so much better. They have very reasonable prices ($55 for 45 min), and they used hot stones and a warm towel both times, no extra charges. She wasn't but I was told I could go early with Jennifer and so glad I did. She is just as great as Summer was last time, maybe better. The room was comfortably warm, dimly lit and nice music level. I asked Jennifer if she massaged as hard as Summer for the deep tissue and she seemed reluctant but she was so strong and a real trooper. She hit all of my sore spots that caused me to come in with precision. I think I fell asleep three times. The stretching at the end got my back popped a few times and my neck once though that was not on purpose. I am glad to have tried Jennifer and am looking forward to trying a different one next time. So, as of now, Jennifer and Summer are excellent choices to book for deep tissue.
