The woman who I believe is the owner is just rude, I did not feel welcome or comfortable. She was very short with me for whatever reason, I overheard her complaining to a customer about how she had been there all day and just wanted to leave, I don't think that is ever something you should be telling customers, it makes them feel like a burden when they are keeping you in business. I understand being in a bad mood at work, but leave it at home. I don't normally leave reviews but bad customer service at a flower shop is just ridiculous. read more

This place is a big disappointment, my wife ordered a big $50 ($70 when all said and done) bouquet for Mother's Day that was supposed to include roses, and got a small bouquet that looked like it was a $10 dollar bouquet from the grocery store filled with filler flowers. I absolutely love the fact that my ex son in law and granddaughter sent me flowers for Mothers Day, what a great surprise...but wow, I sincerely hope he didn't spend a bunch of money on it. There are about 8 white daisies, all in the front, three purple carnations in the center back (one isn't even bloomed out), and one huge yellow flower with a dyed red center, in the front. It literally has like three sprigs of greenery, also all to one side of the arrangement. I look at it and feel like it was just a mish-mash of whatever flowers were left over, (they certainly aren't color coordinated) that were thrown into the vase. I've used Penguin a couple times before with good results. However I ordered sunflowers for my mother's birthday today and she sent a photo of the bouquet she received - yellow daisies! I understand the usual florist disclaimer of "we may in some instances substitute comparable flowers based on seasonal availability," but substituting yellow daisies for sunflowers?? That is like substituting carnations when a customer paid for roses. If you don't have sunflowers, you need to take that option off the website or call the customer and say you don't have them and let them pick out an alternate arrangement. Also, I see the manager of Penguin has posted 3 x 5 star Yelp reviews of their own business. Not only is this tacky, it is against Yelp guidelines: "Your contributions should be unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn't write reviews of your own business or employer, your friends' or relatives' business, your peers or competitors in your industry, or businesses in your networking group." I doubt I will use Penguin again. read more

I've received two deliveries so fast from penguin. The first delivery in November was beautiful. Vibrant colors and they lasted almost a week. I received flowers today for valentines day and yikes! The first thing my eye was drawn to was the wilted bunch of lillies in the right hand lower corner of the picture. I threw it out three hours after receiving my bouquet. Now it's just carnations with fewer Lillie's. I'm not sure how they were proud of that work, it was DOA. I wanted to email them the pictures but they don't have that option on their website to email. I told my husband, the purchaser of the flowers but he didn't seem fired up about it. On their website it says to call or visit within 48 hours and they'll replace it, but they should have never sent something out looking this bad, not do I want another bouquet filled with carnations read more

I always go directly into their flower shop rather than call in my order, so I can see exactly what I am going to get., They have always been very kind and helpful in picking out just the right arrangement for the occasion. They also honored some discount coupons I received from 1-800-Flowers, even though I didn't order the flowers through the 1-800-Flowers website or on the toll free number directly. They can suggest little improvements to bouquets that are shown in the picture albums they have, so that the arrangement is personalized to your need or your event. The lady helping me gave me great ideas and even suggested a choice B since she was getting fresh plants the next day. I thought about calling the next day to make sure the delivery was going to happen. Instead my daughter texted me with a picture of the beautiful dish garden she had just received.
