My boyfriend's, mother lives in Chesapeake and we live on the opposite ends of town so... C.C location was perfectly located in the middle. C.C is non-denominational but still has traditional values. I would describe the church as casual and friendly. Services are held @ 9 and 11am on Sundays. I actually attended last Sunday and found that the message really hit close to home. As a church hopper I think I found my place to call my church home.... for now. Thinking about joining a weekly small group, which would be a first for me! XOXO

I noticed myself giving the "thats's right," "amen," and "c'mon now, preach" quite often, accompanied with appropriate head nod and hand clap ;) We missed the beginning part of the praise and worship, but from the closing Christmas song they did, I imagine it's wonderful. Full band with it's own brass session? Always appreciated. And the lead singer's voice was beautiful. The church houses a predominantly black congregation, although the atmosphere is unusually casual. A refreshing deviation from the "Sunday's Best" style accustomed to many of the black and southern churches I've been to in the past. Not that either is better - I just like my jeans and sneakers. The inside of the building mirrors something similar to a cross between a gym and an industrial building. Nothing you would call modern by any means, but definitely large enough to hold a good capacity of people. We sat in the balcony, which was a little bit of a drag because I had difficulty hearing at certain points in the sermon. Adding a few monitors upstairs could be an easy fix for this problem, however. And probably my main suggestion for improvement. All in all, I enjoyed my worship experience at C3 (as they call it). If and when I'm ever back visiting in Hampton for the weekend, I'll be sure to stop in again.

AMEN! and AMEN! However, if you just want to check religion off your resumé .....I think you get the message. Study Isaiah 53 along with this passage in Philipians 2:5-11. Time is getting short and the days are getting darker. Along with Joshua as he crossed over the Jordan river my confession is this: "Choose this day whom you shall serve. As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord."

Grace participates in a more formal / traditional style of worship by today's standards, but it is not formal in a stuffy and pompous way. Grace also seems to be positioned towards liberal bent and there is freedom for thought and spiritual exploration. I have been active in this church now for about 6 months and there is a deep sense of community and involvement within the church body. The calendar is full of activities and events. Moreover, there is a wide diversity of age and people of all backgrounds are embraced. The Rector, Carelton, and the associate Rector, Connie, are completely lovely people and they have exhibited genuine care for my family and I have seen their care for others on a consistent basis. I simply cannot say enough good about this church - I love it!

Pastor Grant remains, to this day, unwilling to engage with my family as we are still navigating the aftermath of an abusive situation that occurred within the building itself. Pastor Scott, frankly, is his own case study- someone who seems to treat criticism of systemic sexism not as an invitation to reflect, but as something to personify in real time. Pastor Doug, despite serving as the pastoral care pastor, consistently left us feeling more alienated rather than supported. In the role specifically meant to provide care, safety, and discretion, the experience instead felt guided or influenced by other leadership voices in a way that raised serious concerns for us about independent pastoral judgment. We also experienced what we believe were multiple breaches of confidentiality, which deeply damaged any remaining sense of trust. And when it came to how the original situation was ultimately rationalized, we were left with the message that it was simply "boys will be boys"- a framing that felt dismissive of the harm we experienced and deeply minimizing of what had occurred. No church is perfect, but it should also not be a place where people leave feeling further harmed for naming hurt or seeking care.

When I first came, they had a front parking for first time visitors which seemed very thoughtful. They had a welcome counter for the first time arrivals that provided me with a welcome bag and they explained where everything was located in the church which I greatly appreciated. They also provide free coffee which tasted pretty good. There is plenty of seating for service and I love that they have 9am service and 10:45am service. I love seeing so many people excited to be in church on Sunday and to learn about the Lord. And every sermon always seems pertinent to what I'm going through at that moment.

We are ONE Christian Body of Christ, learning the entire book. #2) God told them, "You must without fail give a tenth ["tithe," KJV] of everything your seed produces in the field year by year," which by my calculation is 10%-- Deut. 14:22. #3) I was very involved with this church from 2006- late 2009 before I moved away, yet was born again and saved from the ministry of this church; it is my foundation and in my heart ever since but I tithed what I could, when I could, and God made a way for them through other tithers and they expanded to the new building BECAUSE we had no more room for people lol. My review is, the staff is humble and God-fearing. They seek to know Him like an everlasting hunt as we all should. The congregation are kind stewards and believers, many have come to know Christ and Amen for that! There is an entire kingdom daycare for the children per age group and they are taught, and ministries for teens. Calvary Chapel Newport News is the ideal church and business model rooted and covered with the blood of Jesus and we should have many more locations per state as I now live in Michigan and wish that church was here! I am proud to have started my walk CORRECTLY as a member here and I continue to watch Live online. Pastor Tony Clark and his amazing wife Jenise are anointed and chosen and have pure hearts compelled to serve God's people from the start of their living room to almost 5 services every Sunday, but God is good and made a way, growing his fishbowl to 4 services or a bigger building as righteously deserved in 30 years service. We pay for good food at restaurants, and similarly we tithed for good service!! Do not be deceived and please trust that CCNN will be your home, your family, and will be a place you can draw closer to God more than any other church in Virginia. This Sunday I came here for the 11am church service. The main parking lot was packed but they did…read morehave parking lot attendants who directed us to park in a neighboring shopping center parking lot. They had a welcome desk for first time guests. They also provide coffee but the line was long due to it was not self serve and service was about to start so I did not get a cup . When I was a teen this building was the old Kroger store it's pretty cool how they converted it into a church. The music was lively and the sermon was about Habakkuk and about how he was questioning Gods justice. It was an interesting sermon.
