This gives them an edge imho. Native plants more easily adapt to our landscapes and they support more insects and birds. I scored several plants I had not seen elsewhere -- Thimbleweed, Canada Mayflower, Solomon's Plume, Bellwort. I passed on the Northern Bedstraw which my parents viewed as a horrible weed. I spent too many hours pulling it out of flower beds in my childhood to want to introduce it into mine now. Prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a stop.

The person working here was really nice, knowledgeable and helpful without being overbearing. The plants here were in much better condition than in many, many other garden centers this time of year (though there are always a few "tired"/dormant plants even at the best places). The nursery's focus is on native plants, and they had a very good selection. My favorite aspect of this nursery was that there was a sign next to each plant that indicated how large it grows, flower color, what kinds of wildlife benefit from it and so on. This kept my husband occupied, so he didn't pace around, staring at his watch and sighing. We ended up buying--among other things--a cinnamon fern because (according to the sign), hummingbirds visit it in the spring to get soft material to line their tiny nests.

I had to leave my house, walk over to the site, get their attention over the loud machinery and tell them they cannot block our private road and driveways. They moved the truck and flatbed then proceeded to block half of the east bound lane of Co Rd V. Then, 20 min later, another truck blocked the road and driveways! 2-3 houses on this short private road had no egress. When I again walked over there to tell them they cannot block our road, the young man (I am 71 yrs old and 5'4") argued with me, told me he is a firefighter so "knows how this goes" and asked if I had to go someplace! he did not move the truck til he was done filling another vehicle with gas. All of which could have been done at the home site or on public property around the corner. I called the company phone number and left a message - did not hear back. I called the county to see about any regulations. When I told them the name of the company, they said they are known for being uncooperative.
