Some courses cover things like healthy living, in Yoga and the Alexander technique. They offer the certified counseling courses and accredited computer courses. I have been to a few life drawing sessions there in the past run by an independent group who hired one of the rooms. The studio was big enough for everyone to have easels - there's nothing worse than trying to draw in a cramped space. A few years ago I took an aromatherapy and massage class run in the evening once a week. It was a great introduction to the practice. It was a women only group so we practiced on each other so I got massaged (as well as giving massages) every week! It was really good value for money as well. They offer concession rates on most courses, which aren't that expensive in the first place.

Such an unassuming building is home to a diverse range of courses aimed at improving skills and general wellbeing of adults in the Leeds area. Discounts are available on some courses for those receiving benefits so really valuable personal and work-life developments can be achieved. There are sewing courses, DIY, fine art, pottery, yoga, computing and English. The lists do go on and on. Swathmore follows the academic year pattern and there is a membership fee of 10 pounds for a year. It is easy to get to as the Leeds Free bus goes to Park Lane College which is just round the corner.

I have removed my previous review here…read more There's no question the standard of teaching at Gateways is excellent in many areas, the 6th form in particular. The issue is that there are gaps in a lot of what the school does. My children attended Gateways but all came away with very negative feelings and vowed never to send their children here should the opportunity appear. All of them suffered bullying - an issue which wasn't uncommon - about which little was done. In one instance the school had full knowledge of what was going on and took little action towards the perpetrators. In addition to this should any criticism be directed towards any member of staff the school is quick to protect whoever it is. Some staff members behaved in poor fashion towards one of my children during an incident on a school trip but at a meeting with senior teachers to discuss this it was denied that any problem took place so no action was taken. After my children left I arranged to meet the head of the school governors to address the issues my children suffered. He appeared responsive to the issues but after our meeting and an email from me thanking him for his time I heard absolutely nothing. That was my last contact with the school. That's poor on any level. The headmistress at the time of writing was also very unresponsive to issues I raised during my children's time at Gateways. So I'm left with very mixed feelings concerning the school. On reflection I wouldn't have selected Gateways as there are many other good options in the area.

It is based in Chapel Town - a predominantly Black and Asian community - as they work with BAME (Black and Ethnic Minority) groups. But the fact that I am a white girl did not prevent them from giving me free advice about how to get started. I had called them up and was able to arrange a meeting the next day. My advisor was positive and helpful and gave me his card so I could call him any time I needed more advice on my next step to setting up my own business.

Yes, it was a lot of hard work but yes, I met some amazing people and can honestly say I loved the course. The tutors are excellent and their enthusiasm played a major part in keeping my own spirits and flagging energy levels high(ish) throughout the four weeks. The school, the students (especially the ones who were on the receiving end of my teaching), the resources, the teaching are second to none and I don't hesitate to recommend the TESOL course at Leeds English Language School.

The school environment is wonderful with a woodland area, lots of green spaces with flowers and plants, climbing frames and imaginative play areas. I have two children at this school both have excelled my expectations gaining greater depth in subjects and are pushed to achieve rather than left to coast along. The classes my children are in have been incredibly friendly. my daughter was a quiet shy girl when she first started and now she has many many friends and has become an outgoing and friendly 7 year old. This has been supported by the teaching staff who seek to support children with their peer relationships and encourage children to work together and problem solve in groups in class. The after school opportunities are vast and impressive from sporting, arts, gardening, science, crafting, forest school club and also they have their own after and before school club for wrap around care. I would always encourage anyone who asks to go and take a look around and see for themselves what a wonderful school this is.
