I'm kind of surprised the previous reviews are more than 10 years old. I'm wondering if things have drastically changed in the more recent past.
We enjoyed our weekend stay here. Shoenau is a little village full of pensions and B&Bs. Since it was still early in the season when we visited, it was not crowded. There are two Bavarian hofs, a very nice cafe, a pizzaria, two bakeries and a butcher shop in this village though one of the hofs wasn't operating their kitchen anymore, and the other was closed due to COVID in the family when we visited.
It's a great place to stay exploring Koenigssee and the vicinity. With a visitor discount card you receive from the hotel, you can receive 2€ off for the all-day parking (8€ full price) at the lake. Unfortunately, it doesn't give you any discount for your boat ride tickets for some reason.
Breakfast was somewhat limited, but it was still very good. Each table received prearranged meat and cheese board (COVID precautions, I think). A very friendly owner-operator. He will answer any questions you might have. Free on-site parking is always welcomed and not taken for granted in Europe. read more
