Gayle and stayed here after finishing a relatively easy Day 1 on the Camino Ingles from Ferol. A number of Pilgrims keep on walking to Pontedeume for a longer first day, but we were on a journey, not a race. Plus, our fantastic lunch at the nearby 7 Santiños was worth the shorter day's journey.
Neda itself is on the river and has some pretty spots. There's a nearby hostel for those who love their backpacks over a suitcase, and it's a pleasant stroll if you walk towards the church into Narón. That included spending a good hour in an outdoor square, drinking beer, and watching young families and others enjoy an early weekend evening.
We found Pension Maragoto to be a long schlep up the stairs, a little small, a tiny challenging shower, and with a fair amount of street noise of one chose to open up the window. Yet, it was comfortable enough, with a decent breakfast, and friendly inn keepers. We were thankful to have reserved this place in advance, as there's not a lot of non-hostel rooms available, and we met a number of "just-in-time" Pilgrims that were struggling to find accommodation. read more
