I would give the room 3 stars. If I was just going to rate how much fun I had at the bar downstairs, I would give it 6 stars - so you decide!
Wild Side:
The elevator looks like a giant fish tank. There is wine and beer for sale in the vending machines. The bar downstairs is a blast.
Rooms:
As a business traveler, I want to have a mini-bar, an iron and if I forget an adapter - the ability to buy one at the front desk. Fortunately, the base has many adapters for sale at the mini-convenience store for 1 euro. None of these business amentities exist here. The bathroom shower had one of those 10-inch rain shower heads, which was nice. The duvet was very comfortable. There is no complimentary creme rinse - just that 2 in 1 stuff that doesn't work.
Extra costs:
Every day you have to get your parking ticket stamped, pay 15 euros to your room and then hope some jerk didn't block your driver side door. Apparently parking is free on the street - but it is rarely empty. The wifi is 5 euros per day, and you can only connect one device at a time. If you have a Mac, you have to logout on their web page screen - or it won't take it. The breakfast buffet is 16 euros per person, but if you are heading out to a meeting - it's worth it for the convenience.
Staff:
The women at the front have a typical German attitude which is something like "How stupid are you?" Pretty stupid. For two days, I could not get out of the parking lot without help. Then, I could not get in because when the lot is full - there is a red light that comes on underneath the entrance arm. No words - just a light. And you are suppose to know that means full and don't try and pull up and get a ticket. The bartenders, on the other hand, went out of their way to make up for hated front desk staff. And the young woman manager was like a tall German Ellen Page who I could not stop watching. Plus, according to the Mentalist (Rainer) we met at the bar, she had a wicked English sense of humor - which is so odd for a German. If you meet him (the Mentalist magician) - he is legit and not trying to steal your money! And if you need some entertainment for a business event - Rainer is very good! The Germans don't like to be fooled - so he has a hard time practicing on them. He gets a better response from drunk Americans. read more
