Prior to that we'd been on other photo trips with noted photographers like Ken Rockwell, but NYC Photo Safari offered much more detailed "hands-on" instruction and feedback about our shots. It was a very fulfilling experience and after three hours we had more great shots than we ever got during three days of shooting elsewhere. Since then we've gone on almost all of the safaris; e.g., Iconic NY Parts 1&2, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and Composition Boot Camp. The pictures we captured were good enough that we've printed and sold many of them. Another interesting aspect of these tours is that they attract interesting people from all over the world. A few months ago we completed a recent nighttime 3-1/2 Bridges Tour that involved taking just about every mode of transit NYC has to offer. Again it was a superb time and yielded a bevy of presentation-quality, marketable images.

Each day, the photo sessions started at 12:30 pm and ended approximately 10:30 pm each evening touring every part of Manhattan in every direction. It sounds like alot but each day just flew by. The instructors were incredibly professional and patient. They imparted their vast photographic knowledge, taking their time to explain the composition and reason/purpose of each shot. It was a lot of information and I definitely grow as a photographer. I want give big thank you Zim, who took her time to answer all of my question not matter how insignificant. She help me "think outside the box" to examine some of my preconceived ideas and in a new light (no pun intended...not). Thank you, Thank you Zim for opening eyes and ears and to new ideas and images. Your generosity and support was very much appreciated. Just returned from the Village Photography Walk. I had signed up knowing that we'd be walking about…read moreGreenwich Village, taking a photo tour. Going into it, I was pretty skeptical and I did not know what to expect. I consider myself a pretty capable hobbyist photographer, but I thought it would be a good time to brush up on my skills. I brought a film camera instead of my usual digital because I wanted to get the most out of this tour. And it really did live up to expectations. Stephanie, our guide, was an excellent teacher. We were a small group, but she took the time to explain to us the importance of light in photography. With each stop, she taught us how to set up ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. She also went into detail about what she likes to shoot and how to set up composition. We walked around from Bleecker to Waverly and down to Washington Square Park. We saw so many interesting things along the way, I ended up using about two whole rolls of slide film. I should bring my digital camera the next time! Thank you again to Daniel, the owner, who kept in touch with me throughout the whole sign up process. And thank you to Stephanie, who really made this photography tour shine with her expertise and know-how. Highly recommended, especially for beginners who need to learn how to use cameras beyond the point-and-shoot/cell phone cams.

My friend and I came to NYC the weekend from Boston and were looking for a fun way to see some cool…read morecity spots and take some photos. I had my SLR and my friend brought her Fuji point n shoot. I am a hobbyist photographer and my friend was a novice. We got so much out of this! We did the Iconic New York Walk and focused on the importance of light, composition and technical aspects of photography. It helped me learn manual shooting and I learned a few tricks about shooting directly into light. I have signed up for his online Lightroom workshop after I did this walk and am able to really bring these images to a whole different level! Next time I'm in NYC I'll do the Harlem walk! I'm currently pregnant with our first child and wanted to capture timeless maternity photos of myself and my partner. I honestly wasn't sure where to begin. Most of my friends and family have had children long ago and used Sears or JCPenney. Not that the latter is a bad thing, but it wasn't the style I envisioned. So I took my search to Instagram. With one hashtag, Brilianna was among a few businesses the came up. I made a quick and easy inquiry and the rest was history. From the very first call, Irina was so easy to work with. She asked me what I had in mind then gave me a full rundown of her services. Moreover, she was honest with her capabilities. We had an out of box idea that we wanted to try as an announcement. She was honest that she'd try but her expertise was more timeless than comedic. We ended up not doing it and not because of Irina, but because we no longer felt it was necessary. After that first call, I felt confident booking with her and canceled all other business inquiries. I booked the 'Classic Session' which included a fully guided session, professional makeup and styling, and up to 4 looks. As part of the looks, you have the option of using their beautiful gowns and wraps for your photos. For me, this took a large load off of me. Imagine having to buy 4 different dresses for a maternity shoot and on top of that, figure out sizing, transport, etc. It would've been a hassle (just an FYI - you can bring your own, but her selection is soooo beautiful and high quality, there is no need to!). More than the gowns, I think this was just a great value for everything provided. Most of the photographers I had found during my search, did not include nearly as much as I received. After paying my deposit, Irina remained communicative and I received an easy guide that helped my partner and I fully prepare for our session. Fast forward to the day of our session, it felt like such a relaxing day. The studio is spacious, clean, and modern. I got straight to hair and makeup with Kristen. She was a gem - very kind, welcoming, attentive, and helpful from start to finish. I loved her work as well. Kristen did a soft glam look with beautiful blending. In addition, she added soft waves to my hair that held up nicely throughout the shoot and the rest of the day. Later in the morning, Irina came in and worked her magic. I showed her the looks I wanted and she gave her expertise on what would work best. Kristen acted as a stylist and helped keep me flawless throughout the shoot, while Irina guided me. I was nervous taking photos in my pregnant body. But Irina did a great job guiding me and encouraging me to relax. Her being a mom as well, it was nice to have her reassurance and tips. We went thru each look, including a few with my partner. At some points, I even began to cry because the experience of this moment with my partner was really heart warming. It felt very full circle. No doubt, Irina captured everything I wanted for my maternity photos - love, timelessness, and happiness. As promised, she returned the unedited proofs to us within a week and we made our final selections. I'm now waiting for the finished result but I am very pleased with the proofs. My package included 10 photos and it was truly hard to choose. That's how great her shots were! I've included some candid shots in this review which my partner took during the session. This is just to show how awesome the team worked to prep me and position me throughout the session. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my experience at Brilianna Photography.
