Situational Backgeound: (have been to his office 4 times now) This is the first Yelp review I have…read morewritten. After struggling with one particular tooth that was causing me nothing but trouble...and a negative experience with a referral my primary dentist gave me, I was being extra cautious when the same dentist referred me to Dr. Couri. However, there were zero patient reviews for Dr. Couri anywhere on the web. Other than pictures of an old Victorian house he works out of. (A house...?!) Environment: Dr. Couri practices out of a beautiful old Victorian house. But please don't let that scare you away like it almost did to me! It is clean, bright, beautiful and completely set up to accommodate dental procedures. His staff welcomed me professionally and made me feel at home right away. Appointment Wait Time: Talk about time management!I have never had to wait more than 4 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. (Huge change from my normal dental office experiences). My 1st experience: Professional and thorough! Dr. Couri took his time to examine my tooth, explain what he saw, answer my questions and discuss my options. He even brought me out of the examining room into a nice office where we could sit across from each other to discuss these options! (Yay! I'm not uncomfortably laying down and looking up while making important health decisions!) He used models to explain my options and another employee stood to the side and took notes on our meeting and updated my file. We decided a root lengthening operation was the way to go...however, he also made sure we agreed on a plan for the "worst case scenario"-he offered SEVERAL options-but we agreed that if he believed the operation wouldn't guarantee at least 6+ years out of a crown, he would pull the tooth and prep it for an implant. (This discussion was so in depth that we even agreed on what antibiotic I would take after the operation!)-I say agree because he didn't just tell me what I needed-he completely took my concerns and hopeful outcome into consideration, answering my many questions and I felt like it was a "team" decision. After our great discussion, his insurance specialist sat down and literally outlined what my insurance would cover and what it would not. She was very thorough! She wrote out estimates that broke down every single cost of both Plan A and Plan B. Experience 2 (operation day)- I was completely comfortable and we started right on time. His staff prepped for both Plan A and Plan B. During the operation he walked me through what he was doing and (bc I'm not good with dental work)..he stopped, scooted back, gave me a break and then reminded me that I needed to sit up and breath! He noticed that I had become so nervous that I wasn't moving (on verge of panic attack-The noise of those drills!!-but I could not feel anything..was in zero pain) Anywho..it turned out we needed to go to Plan B..BUT he reviewed my other options before pulling the tooth just to make sure I didn't change my mind and want a cheaper option. Check up appointments: on time, thorough, and after I stated that the operation triggered a migraine-at no fault of his! He took the info down of my neurologist and made sure we had a plan to manage my inevitable migraine for the next two operations I will need for my implant! Talk about going above and beyond!! Cost/repayment: The estimate of the procedure was right on! I mean when we first went over estimates...the financial specialist had a whole print out of my personal dental plan. Overall: The best experience with a medical professional. There were zero surprises! (That never happens). Dr. Couri is professional and goes above and beyond! I feel 150% confident in my next two Procedures with him and his staff. (P.S. I apologize for the lengthy review...but I couldn't find any reviews for Dr. Couri when I was looking for them and wanted to be thorough!).

So I have always had this massive fear of going to the dentist, and because of that my teeth have suffered. Coming here, I was wary. But the staff from the moment I walked in, to the day I got my teeth pulled, were absolutely amazing. Courteous and friendly, informative, and fairly attentive. I needed 3 wisdom teeth and two busted ones removed, and they helped me figure out cost options (to which we settled on the Care Credit with NO interest for 18 months). Maria, who helped us with the cost options even stayed 30 minutes after close to help us find a reasonable payment plan. And it worked! She was EXTREMELY friendly. Today I had the teeth taken out. They showed the utmost care for my well being during the process, helped me relax, and explained everything about the after care. Dr. Thevenin was pleasant, warm, welcoming, and funny. 100% WOULD recommend seeing him. The Dental Assistant Shanice was wonderful. She greeted us every time she saw us even if she wasn't directly helping us at the time. Her calm and up beat demeanor was probably what helped me stay calm during the procedures. Thank you Shanice! I didn't get the names of some of the other employees, but everyone else I interacted with was friendly and quick. Thank you Aspen Dental, I appreciate you.

I am writing to provide detailed feedback regarding my recent experience at Aspen Dental on…read more06/02/26. Having sought a new dental provider due to my previous dentist of 40 years discontinuing their contract with my insurance, I chose Aspen Dental for its convenient location and immediate appointment availability, despite encountering mixed online reviews. While the staff I encountered were generally friendly, several aspects of my visit were concerning and ultimately led me to conclude that I will not be returning for future care. My primary objective for the visit was a general examination, yet, upon arrival, I was informed that no dental hygienist was available for cleanings, reportedly due to a two-week training absence. This immediately raised concerns about their lack of proactive preventative care. Furthermore, throughout my visit, I observed multiple new employees undergoing training in both the reception and clinical areas, which contributed to an impression of high staff turnover or rapid onboarding that could potentially impact service consistency. The physical environment presented a stark contrast. While the front waiting area was bright and welcoming, the examination room I was led to appeared significantly outdated and poorly maintained. The overhead exam light was cracked and discolored, and the patient chair appeared to be a salvaged piece of equipment rather than a modern, sterile fixture. Disturbingly, a half-empty Starbucks beverage was present in the exam room, raising questions about cleanliness protocols between patients. Additionally, the protective eyewear provided was unwrapped and visibly smudged, and I observed smudges on dental tools and dust on equipment cords, collectively leading to concerns regarding instrument sterilization and overall clinic hygiene standards. Clinically, the experience was equally unsettling. The initial X-ray procedure required multiple retakes, indicating potential issues with equipment or technician proficiency, and I noted the technician seemed hesitant under the dentist's direction. The dentist was incredibly rude. She asked bluntly, "Why are you here?" While I had indicated specific areas of pain on my registration, including a known cavity on the opposite side of my mouth previously identified by my former dentist, this was not addressed or even noted. Furthermore, my attempt to discuss another primary concern - an abscess - was met with skepticism regarding my layman's terminology, rather than an informative professional dialogue to clarify its nature. She asked, "How do you know that's what it is?" I told her I don't, that's partly why I'm there, to have it examined. A diagnosis of two recommended root canals was presented without clear explanation, and I had to proactively request clarification regarding the referral to an endodontist, a process that felt lacking in patient education. Finally, before I could depart, I was directed into a separate office for a financial consultation concerning anticipated future treatments. This swift transition to a sales-oriented discussion, complete with refreshment offerings, felt incongruous with the clinical setting and the preceding concerns that had arisen during my examination. It created a perception of commercial focus overshadowing immediate patient care needs. Based on the cumulative observations and experiences detailed above, I have decided to pursue an appointment with the referred endodontist, but I will not pursue further dental care at Aspen Dental. My expectation for dental care encompasses comprehensive preventative services, stringent clinical hygiene, transparent communication, and a consistently patient-centered approach. I hope this feedback can be used constructively to enhance future patient experiences and address the operational and clinical standards within the practice.
