We went to The Great Room this past weekend and it's a perfect name for the wonderful bar at the Hotel Pere Marquette! We had such a great time meeting the staff that we went back a second night, before and after a concert at the Civic Center. The bar is very nice, spacious, comfortable and the drinks are great. We met the servers Bryant, Kelsie, Jody, Chris, among others and what a wonderful group of courteous and hard-working people! They remembered us and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Room was beautiful. Wifi not working 2 days. Took 2 requests to fix a broken toilet seat, room service order didn't arrive and after an hour I called to check, and found that since no wifi they could not charge to my room, and I should come down and pay, but no one let me know. Water leaking from the bathroom above into my bathroom both nights, right onto the toilet. Maintenance was receptive, but I had to keep calling to get update both nights. Pretty disgusting, who knows what was in that water. I did not stay the last night due to that. read more

Stayed for a quick night's stay while on a road trip. Comfortable room-smaller, but in line with what it should be for an almost 100 year old hotel! Clean, but a little worn down. Lobby areas are nice and we stopped for a drink at the bar. Prices a bit high, but normal for the somewhat captive audience. Service at the bar and from the front desk were all great. read more

Love this hotel! This is my second year staying here for an annual work conference, and it really is lovely. Brandon at the front desk is so kind, very accomadating, and helpful! One of the evenings I was admiring the historical pictures in the lobby with a coworker and Couri, who was an engineer for the hotel I believe, came up and was explaining some of the history of the hotel and even gave us a tour around to some of Al Capone's old stash spaces! SO cool! The rooms are also nice and well kept. Definitely recommend! read more

I thought this was one of the best hotels in Peoria. But the experience was really unpleasant. The whole hotel's key system didn't work. We had to ask front deck to help open our room door. I thought they should beat us there, waiting us to open the door. But the truth is we had to wait them at our door 5 minutes and the staff finally came. Plus the blow dry was super super dirty, and the handle was sticky. They should totally change new ones. Because it was disgusting to use that dirty blow dry. read more

Not exactly sure why the ratings aren't better. Overall, it's a pretty nice hotel, wanting to be grand, and maybe not quite making it all the way to that level, but not too far behind. The lobby and people at the front desk were very nice. One thing that is very strange to me is that there is no mini fridge in the room even though the cabinets could easily house one. I stayed in room 1012 which had a really nice view. Not sure what else to say other than things were clean, updated, and comfortable overall. read more

Cool, old hotel with a beautiful 1st level for wedding pics. But we got none of the requested extra pillows or towels. And I have never stayed anywhere, hotel or motel, without a microwave in the room. Just found a single microwave by the front desk. Hell, even my shitty dorm at EIU had several filthy microwaves in the basement! The fridge was so cold it froze everything and couldn't be adjusted. Room was nice and tv was big and modern. The queen beds seemed smaller than actual queens. Breakfast prices were exorbitant, so everyone in our large wedding group opted to go elsewhere to eat. read more

This is one of my favorite Peoria hotels to stay in. The lobby is old school fancy. The beds are super comfy! I always get great sleep when I stay here. I also like that the room can get completely dark and the hallways and rooms are relatively quiet. Other positives include there is a pool and hot tub and a connected parking garage. There's also plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The staff was also very friendly and refreshments and snacks are available for purchase at the front desk. read more

The bed is comfortable and the water is warm, but everything else is absolutely disgusting. I booked a corner room; I didn't get a corner room. The manager on duty basically shrugged and said they were probably booked when I advised of this upon my check out. Meanwhile, my non corner room had: * the ceiling falling apart * an A/C vent that has never seen a duster * mold on the shower curtain * water stains in the artwork on the wall I feel like this hotel would've been cool thirty years ago; now it's just sad and gross. I bought courtyard next door. It was little early to check in ( we are around 2 in time is 4) they said going to next hotel due to covid( but they still sale both hotel separately ??) any way we got here. Front person said no room service for we stay 3 night. If we need extra things like towels and coffee .. we have to call and go to service because no room service ? Now... what they said. Ok...little disappointed. But we got upgraded here it was nice...even no room service? But I read marquis web said they have distinctive wet paper in the room which we don't have. may be we are from next hotel ( we got up grade) so they gave us designated floor? We were in Peoria for a local concert (not Civic Center) and decided to stay here. It was decent. The facility was very clean and the room was clean. There is a parking deck which cost $15/day for hotel guests to park at. There is no other option -- for short-term there is paid street parking (meters), but most of these in the immediate area have 3-4 hours limit. I'm from the Peoria area, but not super familiar with the downtown Peoria area -- the hotel is in an ok part of town. We were on the 7th floor and the view from our room was "meh" -- mostly the rooftop and utilities of the hotel restaurant with a sliver of the IL River. It's super nice that there is a walkway to the Civic Center if you are in town for a concert or event at the Civic Center. There is a restaurant at the hotel, but we didn't eat there (Table 19) -- I hope for them, it is doing well, but we didn't see anyone at the restaurant on a Friday night (last weekend before Christmas), so not sure how they are able to stay open. It was a nice stay. Everything went as expected, but not sure that I would stay here again, unless I were going to a Civic Center or local event. read more

I just stayed the night (10/3) and the cleanliness was amazing-- from the lobby to the room. But the service I received when I checked in was even more above and beyond!! I have stayed in many of the Marriott Hotels during COVID restrictions and you can see the lackluster of the service and the stress of staff have made my stats not be as enjoyable. However, the experience that I had here-- even though there was restrictions & services were not available, they still treated me and gave me the experience as if all services were in full service. I only gave it 4 stars because I couldn't review on the services that was closed because of COVID restrictions for IL. Thank you for the amazing stay! read more

Terrific venue for special event brunches! I took my family to the Pere for Easter brunch. The spread was incredible, and the food was delicious! I was really impressed by the food presentation. A lot of thought went into the "tablescape" of the brunch buffet. The food was beautifully presented. There were a number of Chef's stations including a carving station with roast beef and ham, freshly shucked raw oysters, omelettes, waffles, and cherries jubilee. Price point was admittedly high, but understandable given the seafood options, the European continental breakfast selection, and the Chef's stations. If you're looking for a really special brunch option that is likely to impress, give the Pere a try. read more

This place has been a complete nightmare. I would not recommend staying here and certainly not having a wedding here. The wedding coordinator, Susan, does not communicate, she did not even show up for the wedding rehearsal, she was not present or even available to reach when trying to set up reception area. Did not receive services that were paid for, and to top it off, myself and everyone in the wedding block was charged double and triple for our stay. Terrible way to run a business. Giving the hotel one star only because I can't give it less. My stay was for 6 nights and amongst other atrocities, the sheets were not changed until I demanded they be on the last night of my stay. Upon arrival I found several hairs in the bathroom area. I thought it may have belonged to the person cleaning the room so I convinced myself it was no big deal. Boy was this a mistake. The rooms was small and had a very narrow hallway. No microwave or mini fridge and a very narrow entryway. The bathroom door is really not a door at all. I read it is on a sliding track and leaves little privacy. The bed was very comfortable although my sheets were on upside down. Again, dismissed this and thought no big deal as they would replace my sheets the next morning. It wasn't until my last nights stay I realized they belonged to the previous inhabitant. Day five: noon came and no one had been to the room to make beds or swap linens. I returned to the room at 4:30pm to find the blanket was loosely pulled to the top of the bed but it was not made. The sheets were hanging off the side and onto the floor. The dirty linens were removed but not replenished. My entire stay I smelt something funky in the air. Not being used to the humidity and heat the Illinois summer has to offer, naturally I thought I had a BO problem. This led to me cranking the rooms AC, and twice a day showers in hopes I could minimize the assaulting odor. It wasn't until I needed ice on that fifth day of my stay I discovered three hamburgers rotting in my ice bucket. That had been there for who knows how long. Again, these were left by the rooms previous tenants and was AT LEAST six days old. I stormed downstairs to the lobby and asked for a manager. The gentleman standing at the desk said he was able to assist so I had him open the ice bucket. After explaining the situation he requested I send photos of my discoveries to his email. He assured me he was going to follow up with the sites GM and would send someone up with new sheets, linens, and an ice bucket. I returned to my room and began stripping the bed in anticipation of a housekeeper only to find blood and rips in the mattress protector. Not a little bit of blood, A LOT of blood. Again, I took a photo and sent it to the front desk. A very kind gentleman showed up to assist me in changing the sheets. At this point all I want is to leave. I moved the sitting chair over to the side to make room for the soiled linens and found a subway sandwich wrapper, hair ties, dust bunnies and a shoe!!! A shoe that does not belong to me. I gave all of these items to the gentlemen and he asked," they didn't come to clean your room today?". I informed him I had been here several days and this room was not only not cleaned once during my stay; it wasn't cleaned prior to my receiving the room. The look on his face said it all. After the housekeeper left I started inspecting the room and found dried boogers on the beds headboard. At this point I'm so upset all I can do is cry and shower. Made it to bed around midnight and ended up sleeping on a blanket I had brought from home. I didn't want to touch anything J. The room. I checked out at 4:00 a.m., caught a cab and left without turning back. I have been gone for 6 days and haven't received any correspondence from anyone that represents the hotel. No apology or explanation was given, nor did I receive any acknowledgment from the desk manager that asked for the photos. It is one thing to run a dirty hotel and acknowledge your short comings, It is quite another to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. Do not waste your money here. I am very disappointed in Marriott and think a visit from the health department is in order. It is very sad the way this hotel is ran and I really hope they are able to pull it together before someone gets ill. Pictures will be uploaded sans bloody sheets and hamburgers. Yuck. We stayed in room 336. There were chips all over the floor on the side of the bed. Dust everywhere. Gum and wrappers in the garbage. On the air/heater there was crayon marks. The Pere Marquette is all about trying to stop myself. Staying there for work, I had meetings to attend. But I had to stop staring at the view from my room so I could go to sleep. I had to pull myself out of that amazing bed with all its super soft pillows to get in the shower. Once in there the water pressure was perfect and I found myself basking for longer than I should have. I felt like a princess. It was so quiet. I am typing this from the bed. Crap. Now I have to try to get myself up again. Resist the urge to pull the butter soft covers up around my neck. Maybe a few more minutes... read more

I'm giving three stars since some of the following issues were corrected. My sheets were stained with what appeared to be blood, urine, and or coffee. It wasn't a lot, but it was noticeable. More so, any amount of the above substances are unsatisfactory and not something I want my two month old or four year old sleeping in. We notified the staff immediately and they changed our room, and also gave us a larger connecting room. Nevertheless, their elevator inspection was expired, and it appeared unsafe due to the loose buttons and black tape. I will post pictures of it. We were only in town for a wedding, but I was a bit alarmed by these things. read more

The Pere Marquette was used for a Convention I attended. I did not stay at the hotel. The Pere Marquette is the "grand dame" of Central Illinois. How does she do it? It's the staff! I recently attended a GFWC Convention at the Pere and was pointed in the right direction, on more than one occasion by Mindy (Front Desk). She was always gracious and courteous when I would walk up to her and ask one of the gazillion questions she must hear every day. And, she was a friendly first face every morning when I would go off to the various and sundry meetings that make up any large gathering. At one point, I needed to lug a number of heavy items up to one of the meeting rooms. Levi, came to my rescue. He not only moved my items to the proper space, but remained until I arrived (had to park my car). He wanted to make sure that what I had brought was in the right place. I told him I would probably need help later and he assured me he would be available. Nice smile! And, finally, I am a picky eater--the bane of wait staff. I attended a number of banquets and pre-planned dinners. Somehow I lucked out and had the best staff at the tables I was seated at. Perhaps all of the wait staff are nice, but when I asked Renea for a glass of milk to go with the chocolate cake I had been served, she quickly touched base with her manager and came back with my request. Greg and Laura were responsible for other dining events and I was impressed with the way they took care of not only me, but all of my table mates. Picky eaters unite--come to the Pere Marquette for excellent service! BTW--the tomato basil soup was delish and I love, love, LOVE the quinoa kale salad! read more

Horrible hotel. The hotel is so dirty and run down. We had a suite, but it was so gross that we almost left. The paint was peeling off the walls, the curtain was ripped in the bedroom and missing in the living room, the AC in one room didn't work, and everything was so dirty. We walked in the bathroom and there was trash on the floor from the last guest. The furniture had stains all over it. Housekeeping never cleaned our room while we were there, despite repeated requests. We couldn't even get clean towels. The pool was also broken. I would never come back. read more

My suspicions were first aroused when I walked into my room and noticed the DUST on the headboard, lamps and nightstand. It was quickly followed by a blood spot on the sheet, hairs on the sheets, a black smudge on one of the towels and a drain that would not drain until I cleaned it out. This is a MARRIOTT? It started with a call to the front desk to report the "Toe jam and Skittles (candy!!), on the floor. They must have scoured the area for people with vision issues for housekeeping. When I told the front desk about the carpet being dirty ther was a long silence. I then asked him if they normally vacuum the rooms after someone checks out and he replied yes and sent a young man up to vacuum it. Mind you, this is like the "Crown Jewel" when in downtown Peoria. The walls are VERY thin, FYI, as can be attested to the amorus couple in the next room (1:30 AM one day, 9:30PM another). The in room coffee is cheap hot and black and resembles coffee only in looks, The teas were fine. Had breakfast during a business meeting while there and, yes, the eggs were powdered and the sausage was rubbery and greasy. I ate better in the Army 35 years ago. The grand room where our meeting was held was a sight, but the ceiling had water damage and that was all I could fix my sight on as well as a column topper missing. Too bad, really. The room we stayed in was VERY small and you just about had to go out in the hall to change your mind. It's very tough to leave this old restored motel such a low star rating but the next time I'm in town for a business meeting, I will be staying elsewhere. By the way, we had a wonderful stay the last three days prior at the Courtyard by Marriott in Naperville. No comparisons between the two! read more

Even giving 1 start is too much I have platinum membership with Marriotts and I am almost out 100 + days every year worldwide, and I prefer Marriotts over the others. This stay has been the worst that I have had , I left my laundry on Friday morning , which had all my shirts for the following week as this was a very long trip of three weeks , when I came back on Friday I did not find my laundry, when called the front desk they said they did not send it but they will make sure this goes on Saturday. Sunday came by but I did not get my cloths back , now the managers comes on the phone and she told the bag never felt the hotel and it's still sitting in the hotel and they can only get them done by Monday evening. I got the bag back and today is Sunday so no one in the town is open to clean and deliver , I landed up spending $ 350 to buy shirts and basics garments. When you are charging so much for your room, make sure you up your customer service , and not even once the manager was sorry for the mistake . I have booked for 9 nights and I am checking out of this hotel today itself read more

All around great hotel. I'm from Peoria, & I always remember the Pere Marquette being a nice, upscale, though aging hotel. Marriott has done a wonderful job putting it back to the hotel that it should be. The rooms are very nicely appointed, many of them have awesome glass walk in showers. Clean, modern, yet classy & most of them quite large with high ceilings. The bedding is your standard fare Marriott bedding which I have come to love for its comfort & consistency whenever I travel. Parking is easy as there's a parking deck attached to the hotel via walkway. Food selections are good. From in room dining to a nice restaurant in the lobby. The bar in the lobby is also good. I've gotten to know a few of the people working in that area & they're very friendly & attentive. read more

I stayed here with my family, and found the staff to be extremely accommodating, and our suite was lovely. This is the only place I want to stay when we visit Peoria. Beautiful historic hotel! However, we were met with an offensive odor in the hall as we got off the elevator. The worst part of our stay occurred when we went to the pool. The water looked murky (the bottom of the pool desperately needed painting)and it was freezing cold! I called for maintenance to check the thermostat. Maintenance arrived and told us they get calls all the time about the temperature of the water in the pool. He assured us that the thermostat wasn't broken. I called the front desk to ask why the pool water was sooo cold. And, I was told that the temperature was appropriate...that this was a lap pool. The family who was there before us, made space in the hot tub. They also complained that the pool water was freezing. Families and other guests come to the hotel pool to relax and enjoy the water. We are not training for the Olympic swim team!!! read more

Very nice! The feather top beds and billowing feather pillows will definitely keep you in the clouds, but i just can't bring myself to give this 5 stars since Marriott doesn't seem to want to offer the amenities that other hotels almost as nice in much lesser price ranges right down the street offer, (mark twain hotel) such as a complimentary wi fi and breakfast. Be prepared to not only shell out $250+ taxes per night but $10 per day for basic internet access. They do have complimentary parking, but I imagine once they get the walkway completed it will no longer be free. Right now it's rather inconvenient. Looking for a grand hotel to stay at in Peoria? Well this ought to be one you consider. Located down town, the Pere Marquette has a history of famous guests including US Presidents. The rooms are a grand size equipped with TV and coffee making facilities. Mine was a suite with a sofa, coffee table and desk. The service is good, and the restaurant boasts a classy bar and restauarant. Breakfast is a full on affair with a large choice of hot food, cold, cereals, bread and fruit. Better if you've got time to enjoy it, but fine if you don't. With wifi available in all rooms this a good choice to stay in if on business or on leisure. read more

We booked a room with a city view, king bed and an oversized tub, this hotel doesn't have this combination but yet let me book a room and when we got here it doesn't exist... we will never book with Marriott again because of this deception, no offer of an upgrade or anything, small dirty little room is what we're stuck with and is not worth our money! This is a remodeled Marriott and while they didn't have a lot to work with when it comes to the rooms, I found the rooms to be nice. They upgraded me to a suite and so it had its own living room in addition to the bedroom. The bathroom was old school, but when it is an old building there is not much else you can do.
