Stars - Pep Boys, Bossier City I brought my Honda Accord in for a wheel alignment and tire rotation if needed due to the car pulling to the right. The alignment itself was completed properly, and the first technician did his job well. However, after my car had already been removed from the garage and the technician went to lunch, things became uncomfortable and concerning. I was then asked if I wanted a tire rotation for an additional $10, even though I had already said "if needed." I agreed, trusting their judgment. At that point, only two employees were present--one at the desk and one in the shop. My vehicle was brought back into the garage. While I was watching through the courtesy window, a technician raised a large toolbox lid directly in front of my face, completely blocking my view, and never returned to that toolbox. I found this behavior rude and unnecessary. When I mentioned it to the desk associate, my concern was dismissed. Afterward, while paying, I was told my hub bearings were failing and was handed a quote for over $1,000, with pressure to have it done immediately. Given the timing, lack of transparency, and unprofessional behavior after my original service was already completed, the situation felt fishy and left me uncomfortable and distrustful. 'Our FAMILIES RV was stolen from PEP BOYS. They didn't call us and tell us, and they didn't call the police. The family showed up to inquire about the shocks being put on 2 days later only to be told the RV was gone. Our family called the pilice. The police said it's probably in Mexico by now. Pep boys stated they didn't know when it came up missing. They have ZERO camera's protecting their clients' property. No communication from Pep Boys for almost 6 weeks. I called and spoke to upper management out of New Orleans and was told to expect a call from their investigation department. An extremely rude woman named TY told us PEP boys were not liable for the theft of our families vehicle. I will continue to post updates so your customers will know how your company has reacted to the theft of our vehicle that we trusted in your care until this situation is resolved. I went into PepBoys on E. Texas, all I wanted was a diagnostic ran on our car. The guy behind the desk literally told me that I had to wait an hour and a half before someone could come in to run the diagnostic for me (as if it were some kind of specialty skill) because our check engine light had come on. 2 guys were on their computers behind the desk, all the bays were opened with only one car in one of the bays, and a mechanic working on that car. I left, and went to AutoZone, where they were much nicer, they got their meter thingy, hook it to our car, got their readings, went back into the store, downloaded the infor, and gave me a printed readout in less than 15 minutes. Then, just to make sure, I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts, and asked for the exact same diagnostic, and low and behold, I got the very same service that I got at AutoZone, except this time, the store clerk offered to bring me out the results so I didn't have to get out of my car. PepBoys you had your one shot and you blew it. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful advertisements. They were super busy when I arrived with every bay full and folks waiting in the waiting room. 5 people came in behind me. The time was approximately 2pm. I was told it would be 4:30 before they could get me in. I had nothing better to do and the wheel needed help. So I left my keys and went for a walk. I returned at 3:15 and saw they were taking my car into the bay. (And I had gotten nail polish to kill the time!!) I decided not to risk starting the nails because these folks were working ahead of schedule. They were all polite people and I was out of there long before I had expected. Yesterday I brought my car into pep boys and I was told they would look at my car in the morning and give me an estimate. When they called they told me I was going to owe $2,176 because multiple things were wrong. When we got pictures of what was wrong I had it looked at by another mechanic. They tried to over charge me to fix my car and when I told them I didn't want the repairs they charged me $120 for diagnostic's. Something that was not disclosed to me when I left the car with them. We had an unfortunate incident on I-20 (along with several other vehicles), where our tires met up with a very nasty and aggressive piece of steal situated in the middle of the interstate. Both our passenger tires immediately blew. As luck would have it, most auto shops were either closed or doing so very soon. My wife was 40 weeks pregnant and we NEEDED a fix immediately. The guys at Pep Boys offered to stay after closing in order to get our vehicle back on the road that very night. Pep Boys did a free brake system inspection on my 2009 Kia Rio LX, and they said I needed to replace the brake pads and front rotors. I bought the parts and had a privet mechanic to do the work. As he was doing the work he realized that I did not need rotors that the ones I had were in perfect condition. Pep Boys wanted to charge 156.58+ labor to replace the rotors. I've always had great experiences visiting Pep Boys Auto Parts side of store. Employees were always friendly and helpful. No problems there. I decided to try the service part (shop) for a vehicle wheel alignment. I drove my wife's car (VW Beetle) there yesterday afternoon. I spoke with the shop manager on duty which was very professional. He said that his mechanic could get me in quickly. Well his mechanic had him to ask me why did I think that it needed a wheel alignment. Mechanic mentioned if it was pulling to one side that didn't mean it needed a wheel alignment. (1st excuse) I told the manager that I replaced the steering knuckle on driver side and I KNEW that a alignment was needed. Shop manager assured me that his mechanic could handle that and it wouldn't take anymore than 30 to 40 minutes. Well 10 minutes later after I was seated in the waiting room, my wife beckoned for me. I walked out to see what the issue was. The manager told me his mechanic said, "it sound like a Volkswagon's problem" (2nd excuse). How could that sound like a Volkswagon's problem? Mechanic didn't even bother to look at the car. My wife and I didn't appreciate being shunned off by some mechanic that wanted to pick and choose what he worked on. My wife and I walked out in disbelief and disappointed with the customer service we received. That was our first and last time visiting the shop. Individuals like this mechanic doesn't realize that he hurt the potential of any future customers that could flourish from referrals. I took and Uber, while my husband waited for the tow truck, to explain what had happened and to let them know we were coming. I had a terrible experience next door at Firestone first; with tears in my eyes I walked over to Pep Boys and they were kind, and took the time to look our vehicle over and get a plan - when Firestone refused because it was too close to closing time - an hour before!!! Gene knows how to run a shop and listen to customers and Ken will make sure you get every mile out of your car. I have over 200,000 miles on my little Hyundai Elantra and that's only because Gene and Ken treat me and my car with respect and GREAT customer care. When they say my car is good to go on the road with, and I put miles on my cars, I can travel with confidence. Took my moms car up for an oil change usually with an oil change they rotate the tires. They put on the ticket that they did rotate the tires, but considering she has one tire that the tread isn't the best on I could tell that they didn't. They also forgot to take her old oil change sticker off and put the new one on. When We went back up there to get the sticker put on he had laid it in the dash and said he just forgot to do it. Which is not where my issue occurred. My issue was with the fact that when we questioned him on the tire rotation he said "oh well you had one tire that's not the best so we decided not to." When we left I told my mom to call up there and talk to someone when she spoke with this guy he said the same exact thing and said well sorry for not telling you ahead of time. I had come into the shop last weekend to have my brakes and rotors replaced on my Ford Flex. Everything went wonderfully and I even saved a lot of money with a coupon. However, one week after having the new brakes and rotors they started grinding and thumping. I brought my car back Sunday and the guys took a look at it right away. The waiting room has a large window where I was able to watch the team take off the tires and inspect the brakes, rotors, tie rods, axles, etc. After 30 minutes Gene, the manager and I went out for a test drive to try to replicate the sound that I was hearing. After pinpointing the sound that I was hearing the team back at the garage again pulled off the tires. At this time another car was brought into the garage and I could no longer see my car. After another 30-45 minutes, Gene asked me to come out again and take another drive. The sound was completely gone! I am very impressed with the teams dedication in looking into my concerns. First of all, I went in the first time with a coupon for an oil change. I met Ethan then. He informed me of some sort of serious problems with my car. For one I needed 2 new tires, and For two I needed a motor mount replaced. He gave me an estimate. I got the money together to do so, and came back with the coupon that Ethan gave me. He was knowledgeable and helpful even though they were slammed the days that I went in. The next day my car was making all sorts of noise. I brought it back at 8am the next morning...and I was so worried my car was done. What happened was one of a kind...my spark plug came apart in the motor and they had to do another good amount of work to get my car back in shape. Robert, the manager, kept checking on me both days, but more important...for the first time I felt like I was well informed of what was happening with me car by qualified people who really cared what I was feeling. The service that I received at this Pep Boys was as good as it Gets. I rolled in this morning to get my oil changed after I had gone online last night to make an appointment. First of all the person that greeted me at the bay didn't greet me but kinda grumbled at me. It was cold and raining so I finally got inside. When I got inside I was serviced by the person who met me at the Bay. Let's just say he was less than stellar in his performance (to say the least he needs to be customer service and sensitivity train along with learning how to use a computer we are in that age) He finally found my appointment but didn't see the coupon that was automatically populated in the appointment window or did he anyway he quoted me twice the amount which wasn't a problem for the kind of car I drive but that's not the quote I received. After this person not only didn't take care of me he persisted to ask other people about my issues not talking to me over looking me in fact going on to service other people then he just walked away. I won't say he name because SUPER SERVICE MANAGER ETHAN stepped in and handled everything. Not only did he honor the coupon that I had, but he was more than courteous and very professional. He knew what he was doing period. He took dog gone GREAT care of me and I soooooooappreciate it. ETHAN BROTHER YOU ROCK. It was seamless it wasn't a question or problem it just got done. I went online to compare prices for a new set of tires for my Honda Accord. Pep Boys had a buy three get one free on Hankook Venus S1 Noble H45s. I read the reviews and was pleased with the responses that were posted about the quality of the tires. Pep Boys was the best deal I found. I convinced my husband that their price was one that could not be beat, so instead of going to Firestone, Gateway or another shop I needed to get to Pep Boys. My husband and I created a budget for both services based on the price of those tires, and the service that I needed from the dealership. I had the routine service job done at the Honda dealership earlier that morning. That service put a small dent in my pockets, but I really needed tires So, I arrived at Pep Boys and told Bill what I needed and that I wanted to take advantage of the special on the internet. He advised me that he only had three of the tires, and that there were no more at either of the places that they usually ordered. I was dumbfounded. He advised me to check a discount tire company (I forgot the name) to see how much they might sell one for, and assured me that Pep Boys would gladly install it if I decided that I wanted to order it and have it sent to them or if I brought it in myself. After, deciding that the logistics would be a nightmare, I decided against that option. He advised me that he had comparable tire, a Falken, that he could sell to me but it was a little more expensive. Bill agreed to sell me that tire for the price of the Hankook. Since I had spent so much on maintenance at the other store, I simply could not afford the new price quote. I spoke with my husband back and forth, but the final price of the new tires was simply outside of our budget. To make a long story shorter, We were contemplating axing the roadside assistance in order to be able to afford the tires. Didn't have to do that. Bill kept working with me until he got me a price that was still within my budget AND I got to keep my roadside assistance. I got my tires put on within about 45 minutes to an hour and I was happily out the door. I realize all businesses are in business to make money; however, customer service and the willingness of business to work with customers MATTERS a great deal. Bill could have said Im sorry that the internet mislead you and sent me packing, but thank God he didn't. Thanks to Pep Boys great customer service I have the piece of mind that I have four new tires, with roadside assistance without having to stress out about spending more than I can afford.
