Stay away these guys are scammers. Bought a brand new set of tires 4 months ago. Got a screw in my tire this week they say is "unrepairable". The salesman that sold me the tires said they had a 40 thousand mile warranty, and even if someone slashed them they would be replaced no charge. Ended up having to buy x4 brand new tires and paid almost $500.00. The manager John told me i couldnt prove what the salesman said at the time of sale. I reached out to the store at 2800 E Platte Pl, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 and spoke to John, the service manager regarding my service on 10/02/23. I bought and paid for a service that didn't occur. The service I'm demanding a refund for is of one Solaris tire in the amount of $134.11. I am writing this demand letter in hopes to resolve this issue. I have invoices, serial numbers of the tires on my car, and 2 separate auto shops that have confirmed in writing that NO SOLARIS TIRE was installed on my 2015 VW Tiguan. John also confirmed in person and on phone that they would rectify this issue by installing a new tire, but I do not want any further work done at Pep Boys. Ordered my tires a month in advance had them shipped here. Had no issues until I went into the bathroom to see it looks like it has never and I mean NEVER been cleaned. Stains in the toilet, pee all over the floor by the sinks like how does that even happen and no paper towels. Our appointment ran over the time that was told. The lobby is by far comparable to the women's bathroom DISGUSTING. The men's bathroom was pristine, WEIRD I would have thought it would be the other way a. I'd rather have went with Firestone or Discount tires, the walls in the lobby look like someone sprayed soda all over the walls the floors look like they haven't been cleaned EVER. Not even swept. The worst part is there's a FEMALE working the counter! How do you work and use the restroom in that environment. Just terrible. Honestly just baffled I've seen dive bars in pristine condition compared to this place. Never again. I would have rather used a portapotty im a homeless encampment before this one. TLDR: take your business elsewhere. careless staff failed to secure tire after services, causing damage to vehicle and management refused partial refund for incomplete labor/negligence 135 N Academy Blvd location. On 5/17/24, I took my SUV in for an oil change and to have my brake pads/rotors replaced. I dropped off at 9am and my car was finished by 1pm. My invoice was just under $1200 and all seemed well. While driving to a meeting after picking up my car, I noticed unusual sounds and called the assistant manager, Phyllis, to ask if a loud noise was common after having new rotors installed as I've never had this service before (I'm also not someone that normally handles household vehicle maintenance). She asked that I bring my vehicle back in as soon as I could. Fast forward to around 11am on 5/18/24, I drove back to Pep Boys and had not driven anywhere else that morning because I was afraid to. I explained the issue and my vehicle was taken back to be inspected. The technician, Ezekiel, came back and said he didn't see anything wrong but then said he would drive it around the block. When he returned, he went directly to Phyllis and then began a lot of hushed conversation and phone calls. What they didn't initially tell me was that my tire had started to fall off during test drive and the technician (Jimmy) that originally performed my services the day before failed to secure the caliper bolts back onto my rear left tire and that all of the bolts were now gone. This resulted in all of the hardware above my tires moving around and grinding against one another until some of the hardware was damaged and my tire was on the verge of falling off since the moment I left their lot the day before. Phyllis was very apologetic and said that they would get it taken care of. Phyllis ordered parts and my vehicle was serviced again. I received a call around 3 hours later telling me it was ready for pickup and I let Phyllis know I needed to pick up the following morning because I didn't have someone to drive me back to the location ( for the 4th time in 24 hours). After thinking about how dangerous of a mistake this was and how close I was to being either broken down or in an accident, I called Phyllis to discuss the possibility of a refund for the original labor since it clearly was not done correctly. I had no intention of requesting a refund for the parts. She then told me that the "repair" was under my 12 month labor warranty, to which I replied "yes but if it had been done correctly the first time yesterday, I wouldn't have had to come back or have almost lost a tire ". She said she would call her manager. She called me back a few minutes later and told me there would be no refund. Unlike our earlier conversation, her attitude was very matter of fact and there was no acknowledgment of how her staff's negligence damaged my vehicle. I just don't think that this falls under the labor warranty because their technician caused additional damage to my vehicle by not securing the bolts on my tire after my services. This was not revisiting the original reason for service and their carelessness created an entirely new problem that could have resulted in serious injury. I made an appointment for new headlights and to get my brakes done. I get a phone call and they're telling me that they can't do headlights because they don't have a kit to change them. Fine, no big deal. Then they also tell me I need to reschedule for 3 hours earlier so they can get my brakes done before close. Sure. I show up on time for my appointment just to be told "I meant to call you, we only have one tech, a prior job is taking too long and we can't get to it at all today". You meant to call me but didn't. Last winter I stopped by because my front drivers side tire was low on air. I had just bought a new truck, but the truck I was driving was my old truck I was getting rid of. The 1st person came, I asked him if I could get some air, he said I needed new tires. A second person came up, I asked him if I could some air he also said I need to get new tires. I place my order online and receive an invoice/confirmation with a road hazard fee of $79 and a "grand total" including tax of $1269. Come in and signed a work order for $1269 in the shop. Went to pay and the price jumps to $1352. I was told the website was outdated and the road hazard is $150 (almost double the price on original invoice) and the $1269 work order I signed didn't include taxes. I bought 4 tires here for my truck and went on my way. The price was good. My wife took it back in because the vibration when she got on the highway was too much for her to endure. They said they re-balanced the tires.. And she went on her way. She tells me it seems like they are even worse now. So I took it in and told them to re balance the tires. I waited there for over an hour and they brought me back my key. I drove off and it was noticeably WORSE. I took it to a different Pep Boys and told them of our ordeal.. They were out about an hour and came back in to apologize for the other shop (this one).. They said the tires were WAY out of balance. 3 different weights were on them. (you are supposed to remove all weights and start from base zero, then add weight as needed to balance) They said they wished they could say that this was a rare occurrence, but it seems they have had several customers come in with complaints about this shop. I went into this location on 10/7/18 to get a conventional oil change. I was one of the first in line and wanted to get it done sooner than later. I went in and spoke with a young lady about the service that i needed. She told me that it would take over 1 1/2 hours to do an oil change even though on the door it says 30 min oil changes. Then she proceeded to tell me that I needed full synthetic oil in my vehicle. I told her that all of my oil changes have never used full synthetic. Rather than listening to her customer she proceeded to tell me that she owns a ford and that she's worked in the automotive industry for 4 years. Although I respect that, I am almost 40 years old and I know what i want with my vehicle. Rather than solve the issue she then told me that PepBoys will not be responsible for anything that will happen to my vehicle. I mean WOW, that's just telling me you don't stand behind your work. I was so upset and angry that i wasted my time with this associate I left the establishment. I would not recommend this location to anyone. BUYER BE WARE!! You or your vehicle will not be taken care of rather yet they are going to pressure people into something that they don't need. lastly with the technology that we use they will not accept digital coupons. "Check the speedshop" ok we did, but lets again because they said so. *look around speed shop bay by bay, row by row, no luck, expand search, ask parts counter guy* "If we have them, they're in the speed shop" My partner, Jesse, is WAY less patient than me, if he is Hades in the Texas summer, I am Persephone happily laying in a bed of sunflowers, weigh that heavily when I tell you, that when I walked over and asked the currently, dangerously, dumbfounded looking Jesse what part guy said, I was FURIOUS. Had to redo my suspension and I was quoted by my local mechanic that it would hit around $1,000. I figured there had to be other places out there that had coupons for shocks and struts that would knock off a couple hundred and boy was I right! I met Aaron at the service desk at Pep Boys and he is very friendly, funny and knowledgeable about his line of work. He broke down the cost of my repair and explained what shocks and struts are, what they do, where I need them, what kind, everything. When my car came out fully fixed I was able to bring the repair down quite a bit with the coupons. It was a fast fix and Pep Boys called me occasionally to let me know how my baby Ford Escape was doing in there and update me on time estimate. I will definitely come back in here for repairs. Pepboys totally screwed over my soldier who just got back from Afghanistan. His truck wouldn't start so he had it towed to the nearest service station, #pepboys They checked it, serviced & changed fluids & the oil. They said it was just the connection cable that was loose on the battery. He paid almost $300 picked up the truck, drove 2 miles & broke down. Towed it back to pepboys........ Charged him another $100 to tell him that now the oil pump busted & blew the engine. First of all, If the truck had engine problems prior to your mechanics touching it, shouldn't you have caught this & fixed it? Or your mechanics just screwed up & caused bigger problems..... either way you are at fault! Well unfortunately since my first review where my wife got excellent service, we came to find out that she was given wrong headlamp bulbs. She went to other store way further up academy and they said not only did she get wrong bulbs, but was over charged for them. They also told her this happens a lot at this location. Pep Boys on So Aca in Colorado Springs recommended a Valve Cover Gasket in addition to basic tune-up I requested. First drive beyond take-home was vacation trip where we didn't get very far. Had to turn around & borrow a family's member vehicle. Was losing oil; burning smell; white smoke. Turned out to be "gasket was not installed properly and is leading oil on to the exhaust causing the oil to urn up causing white smoke." Mechanic showed me where Pep Boys also failed to clean the area upon completion of job. That eval of a competitor's shop was $135. Pep boys replaced the gasket (warranty). They would not reimburse the wasted $61.50 for "additional access time" charged. Verbally the manager told me "mistakes are made" but he refused to own up to putting that in writing, blaming it only on a "failed" gasket. Pep Boys has warranties on parts; plus extended warranties can be purchased. But nothing's in place to acknowledge mechanic errors. read more

TERRIBLE! I've given this place numerous chances and every time I end up leaving upset. The last time I brought my car in, it was for a quote. They had my car for almost 5 days when they told me it would only take 1-2 hours. Then I kept coming back asking for my car, which I REALLY needed on account of the fact that I have no other means of transportation, and they couldn't return it immediately because it was "torn apart" but I could see it out in the parking lot! Finally, after a few days, I told them forget about giving me the quote, I want my car back, and after waiting there for another 2 hours they gave it back, didn't give me the quote, AND charged me $100 for "taking it apart and putting it back together"! Horrible customer service. It took them exactly 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete the oil change on my Xterra when they had promised me it would only take 1 hour tops. They had promised me that it would only cost $30 for the oil change (to include my military discount) but tacked on an extra $10 at the time of pick up. To pour salt over the wound, their obese sales floor manager constantly walked by the counter multiple times when other customers, to include myself were complaining about their service and DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. Went in to buy touch up paint for my car, no one in there so I waited for someone to come out, a worker came out to tell me which isle the book was in and to look it up and find it myself! Ummmm, I already had the paint code from my door but if I didn't know where to get it, he was not about to look it up for me. I then went up to him and said I can't find that code and he said "then we must not have it", No customer service at all! Made me feel like a nuisance and I was bothering him. My husband told me just to give them the code and they would show me the paint. Should have been easy, so I went down the street, auto zone looked up the code to make sure I was correct, I got the paint and I was all good! Pep boys sucks read more

Didn't get my vehicle serviced here. With an appointment it took them two hours to tell me that I needed new valve cover gaskets which they estimated $400. Ok, then they told me not needed new spark plugs as well as a new timing belt which had been replaced. Told them we didn't need the other work and they only wanted to do all or nothing.
