So unassumingly perfect! Being the most highly rated restaurant in town, Pepper Tree was my first choice. The plastic chairs, simple tables but quaint lighting made for a simple expectations... that was until I tried the lamb! "I want this to be my last meal before I die" is what my friend and I said at the same time, it was that good! We didn't think our experience could be topped until we tried the Strawberry Meringue, we couldn't get enough even though we were full. The service was spot on and the total experience couldn't have been more perfect!

This is the best restaurant in town and the tuna entree is delicious! Coffees are also good to try! The staffs here are so kind and helpful!

In saying that, once we said about the chewiness of the beef reef, it was replaced with a eye fillet for same price.

No.8 Restaurant - Lemon meringue pie. Should have lost the sauce and had more lemon.

Yes it was busy ahead of the Huey Lewis concert but then you get more staff on or those with more experience. Asking for cutlery and drinks several times is not cool. My stonegrill was good value with great wedges and around the table the food looked good. You got a generous portion of dessert but the lemon meringue was lacking lemon and not as enjoyable as the chocolate cheesecake. It was stinking hot and I was sticking to the seat. Some ceiling fans would have been great. If you go just don't get the table that's right on the bar, ask for one by the windows.

Ambience was fantastic, serving staff were lovely but the food was not great…read more Ordered a couple of seafood starters that were okay - a little bland, although the fish pancakes were a cool concept. We finished them and looked forward to our mains, which read beautifully on the menu... the Spicy Chicken and Pork Fillet. The spicy chicken itself was nice enough - tasty, moist and well cooked, the kumara slab cooked through but tasteless, and a little bowl of steamed veg with no flavor at all... and for some reason a bit of lettuce, which had wilted due to the hot food. The Pork Fillet was awful - not actually a fillet at all but thinly sliced pork loin (looked like a cheap supermarket schnitzel), very overcooked and smothered in a sweet apple/pineapple sauce sitting on a mound of mash. The mash was edible but not great, sauce was as good as you could pour out of a bottle but pork was inedible. Not even a $10 meal, let alone $30+. Was offered a half-price dessert to compensate by the lovely waitress but didn't feel much like eating at that point. Makes me wonder if they have an actual chef in that kitchen... seriously disappointed to pay for food like that as my husband and I don't get many child-free nights. Should've ordered pizza and stayed in.
