Sergio from 247 Drums was easy to communicate with. I checked with the drummer after the gig who verified he got the type of drums he requested and was happy with what 247 Drums provided. Most importantly when there was an issue that one of their drivers called in sick Sergio quickly communicated to us about the issue and we were able to find a work around.

Both of my children had been taking music lessons at North Main for over two years. We stopped…read moretaking lessons there in favor of something more local since we moved and as the old song says, you don't know what you've got till it's gone. The educators at North Main are not just well versed in music, but they're professionals. When we had lessons scheduled for 6:30, they started at 6:30...not 6:40 or even 6:50! The instructors knew how to make music FUN for our daughters- they practiced during the week and they couldn't wait until the next lesson. When we first signed up it was explained to us that if we missed a lesson for whatever reason that makeup lessons weren't promised, yet on the occasions that we did miss a lesson due to vacationing, sickness, whatever, they always managed to fit us in at another time. We tried two other places (that shall remain nameless) and the instructors were not in North Main's league. The owners didn't seem to care about anything but money. The kids were nowhere near as motivated or interested. Lesson learned: when I asked the kids if they wanted to go back to North Main Music one of them literally started jumping with joy. We had to wait a couple of weeks for spots to open up and everyone was delighted when we finally got the call. They even asked one of their students to switch time so that my kids could take lessons at the same time and the student was nice enough to agree. It now takes us an extra 20 minutes or so each way to drive to North Main Music but it's well worth it. Thanks, guys!

I've studied voice with at least a half dozen different voice teachers, and Ruth is one of the…read morebest. I would still be studying for her if it weren't for a move. Sometimes music teachers seem to follow a prescribed order of exercises or warmups out of a book, but Ruth gives careful thought to the exercises that will benefit each singer, whether they need to work on relaxing the jaw, connecting head and chest voice, or creating long, fluid lines (if you're a new to voice, she'll break it down in a way that's not too technical or intimidating). She gives input on song selection, but also lets students work on the songs that interest them. When I ran into issues, she wouldn't hold back but gives critiques in a constructive way. When my voice was working well, she gave very specific (rather than generic or vague) feedback so I could duplicate it and know exactly *why* it's working. We talked about the mechanics of how you sing, as well as the nuances of phrasing, style, and expression. The online system she uses for scheduling lessons and keeping track of payment ensures that you don't waste lesson time sorting out those details. Her enthusiasm and professionalism are top-notch and she genuinely cares about her students' musical and personal development. Overall, I would highly recommend her to beginning or advanced singers!

By way of background, I am in my…read morelate 60s, and while having taken classical piano lessons as a child and teen, I never progressed much on the instrument, dabbling here and there over the years. I've always loved jazz and finally decided to bite the bullet and try jazz piano lessons last January. I found Debbie on a site listing local jazz piano teachers, and I contacted her. I lucked out--she is a superb teacher, not to mention a talented jazz pianist and singer who performs frequently. She started me off on the (sorely needed) basics, with chord progressions, scales and arpeggios, which has improved my technique to the point that my brother, a jazz clarinetist not given to hyperbole, was astounded this summer at how much progress I 've made on the piano since he last saw me over the holidays. Debbie and I have also worked on several jazz standards which make practicing enjoyable, and speaking of practice, she has given me some extremely helpful techniques for successful practicing--which, though so important, few teachers focus on. Debbie is versatile and flexible; when I asked her recently to help me learn to harmonize, she embraced the request with enthusiasm, and I am already feeling the results of her ear training. Personally, Debbie is very warm, dedicated, patient and refreshingly balanced in her feedback; she provides praise when warranted, and constructive feedback when needed. In closing I'll simply say that I couldn't ask for a better teacher.

Rock 101 band got super big, like two of every instrument and super chaotic. After six weeks or so of our kid complaining that he only actually played for ten minutes per session, we sadly quit; owner Mark Abruzzese then wrote us a nasty email where he managed to insult us and our kid. My daughter has enjoyed performing her entire life but since Covid it's been a real challenge getting her back into it. I am so grateful that School of Rock has changed that for her! We have taken guitar and piano lessons here for the last two years and could not be happier. The teachers are engaged and interested in teaching kids things that enhance their skills and keep them interested. The range of music you hear them teaching demonstrates their commitment to the student - not their own interests. I wish my parents sent me to this kind of place growing up instead of learning to read music for "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Bad enough for piano, imagine it for a kid that wanted to learn rock guitar. The space was recently spruced up and has a nice vibe. If you are interested in lessons for guitar, bass, uke, drums, piano and a few other instruments this place is definitely worth checking out.
