Beer is stale and flat quite often. They have a very larger selection but if the beer is stale/flat what's the point.

Not sure here why all the poor reviews. Pequa has a very good selection of domestic and imported beer. So the store is cluttered, big deal, it's a beer distributor not a shopping mall. Prices aren't great, but if you have the patience to clip their coupons (I don't), you can save a few bucks. It pays to check dates on whatever you buy, like any other distributor, occasionally you will find a close to expiration case. I do not buy beer a lot, but in a pinch to get a 24 pack, I found the prices here $8 more than what I googled elsewhere. I'd say have what you want in mind, put your head down and go for it. I saved $2 using a coupon, felt misleading but again, I do not buy beer. I hate this place. The layout is super awkward, the staff isn't pleasant what-so-ever, and they're usually insanely overpriced. As someone who has worked in customer service for two and a half years, I was sincerely appalled at the way an employee answered my phone call. I was inquiring about the delicious and smooth Nicaraguan Toñas for an upcoming party. This party is a group of college students I met in a community-service program based in Nicaragua and Toñas are our staple. The employee decided to cut me off with a very straight-forward and bitter tone. No greeting whatsoever! Lack of "Thank you for calling, my name is __. How may I help you?"--For which she's smart. She didn't give me her name. I totally would've put it on here. She was silent until I asked her my question. I had my headphones on, so I thought maybe she couldn't hear me. I repeated myself in a calm manner and proceeded to ask "Do you know anywhere near you that would sell them?" She goes (very annoyed, I might add) "We don't sell them here." And hangs up. I am so glad I had that phone call!!! I will be recommending my Long Island friends to take their business elsewhere. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I definitely did not start off rude. Businesses prosper through good customer relations and employees must learn to separate their personal life with work life as tough as that is some days. Pequa beverage is one of Long Island's best Beverage shops. They have great selection of craft beers from around the country, many of which I cannot find in other stores, and their customer service is high quality. As a limited release beer was coming off a truck last year, the kind woman behind the counter, who I asked if they had it in stock, inquired with the delivery man about the beer, which I was happy to hear was on the truck. All other pallets were held until my beer came off the truck and was given to me. Completely unnecessary. That's how you win repeat business. Highly recommended. read more

I'm all for supporting the little guy but they are so lazy and rude here that I would rather drive the 10 minutes out of the way to support a different beer distributor in a neighboring town. I have had 3 experiences with this place (always older ladies up front) and none were good.So I have finally decided to write a review. Three Strikes! The first time there they did not have the beer that I wanted ( I will not name it) and said that they wouldn't carry it because it sucks. Who are you to judge. WOW..... The second time was last winter. I slipped and fell at their doorstep on ice that had accumulated from a drip coming from melting snow on their roof. My pants ripped and my knee was bloody. When I walked in they told me to be more careful next time. I didn't want it to happen to anyone else so I told them where the patch was so they could put down salt. Their response:" Yeah that happens all the time." Why wouldn't you do something!! Third time was when a friend was coming to a party and I asked him to pick up a specific case of beer for me. He stopped there and was charged $51. He's not a beer guy so he didn't know any better, this beer at other places is $35-$38 TOPS!!! So if you want: Lousy customer service, rude people, and exorbatant prices this is the place for you. read more

Horrible business, easily the worst beer distributor on Long Island. Avoid at all costs. I'm not even sure where to begin. First off, the layout of the store is terrible and makes it difficult to find what you're looking for. When you do find it be prepared to be appalled at how high the prices are. You'd think that for all the trouble you go through to find your product and the ridiculous prices you're paying you'd be greeted by a friendly/helpful staff member, Right? Wrong! They're all terrible. From the teenage punks running the back/floor who care more about B.S.ing with their coworkers and playing all on their phones all the way up to the monster of a human being, SANDY, that runs the place. She's absolutely the rudest and nastiest business owner I've ever had to deal with. Totally unwilling to take responsibility for her stores mistakes and straight up rude. Rude isn't even a strong enough word to describe it. I asked a question about the availability of a craft beer I was looking for and she went out of her way to make me feel like I was inconveniencing her on several different visits. I used to visit this place all the time. And despite the awful service I continued to visit because it was close to my home. However the straw that broke the camels back was when I bought a few cases of beer for a barbecue I had a few weeks ago. They were ALL skunked. I bought four and they were clearly not stored correctly. When I called the store this lady Sandy had the audacity to claim the beer either skunked in my car on the 5 minute drive from her store to my house or even implied that I had no taste and the beer was fine. I may not be a conisour but I know a skunked beer when I taste one. This place isn't worth your time. It's absolutely the worst place I've ever shopped for anything. However, I do have to place some blame on myself for giving it so many chances when they made it painfully clear that they don't know they products they sell and don't care about their customers in the slightest. When she heard my complaints she even went as far as claiming a lot of people were complaining about the same thing and made it seem as if we were all conspiring against her and there was no problem with her product and WE were all crazy. This was a pretty good distributor for a lot of years until the present ownership took over. The prices are marked-up. The staff is careless and unfriendly. They pretty much never have prices listed on or near the product so you don't know what you're spending until you get to the register (which is outrageous to do that). They have beer and parking. Their prices are OK, not really cheap. Their best gift to beer drinkers is growlers and about 5 different types of beer on tap. Prices are average, and they honor all coupons. They also have a growler station and walk-in coolers, too. Just walked in to pick up something decent and was surprised by how solid of an overall selection they carried. And currently they have a stunning selection of harvest beers and pumpkin beers, better than I've seen anywhere else, and I'm always checking places out. CALL AHEAD! CLOSES EARLY OFTEN! Overall this place has some selection to it nothing really special or whatever but it has the basics. My biggest complaint is that they don't stick to their hours. It says 9 and they are out by 830 845. For example I just showed up to the store at 845 to be told to leave cause they were closed when the sign in front of me says 9. I will never shop here again. After spending 36 dollars on three six packs, a toasted lager, a Kona Longboard, and a Long Trail, I got home and tasted the Longboard. I mentioned to my wife it didn't taste right, then i noticed the bottled date was in June. My wife looked at hers and saw it was bottled in July. When I went in to return, the long haired guy at the counter told me I didn't know what I was talking about and I am brain washed by the internet to thinking the dates mattered. He told me to call the brewery and complain. When I asked him if I should call Hawaii, he informed me it was actually made in New Hampshire and implying I was Dumb for not knowing that. He dropped multiple F-bombs during the encounter and asked if I was the "asshole who called a few months ago, and left a bad review" South Shore Beverage is further down west Merrick Road, by Seaford Road and they were multitudes better. As residents of massapequa park, my parents and I enjoy supporting the local businesses. However, after our experience last weekend I can confidently say that we will never return to this establishment. We gave them a full week in advance order request for a keg of Coors Light. Nothing crazy, just simple, run of the mill beer. At the time of purchase we were ASSURED that on the day of our family party the keg would be fully ready for pick up and issued without a problem. I went with my friend to pick it up 30 minutes before our party began, and were highly disappointed. First of all, the woman behind the desk has no idea what she was talking about... She said we had to wait 1.5 hours before tapping it because otherwise we would only get foam. Then, after about 20 minutes of waiting, she tells us that my keg isn't there because they gave it away. Umm, excuse me? If I place an order, I expect to be receiving what I paid for. She said there is nothing they could do except give me Miller or Bud Light, and continued to give me attitude while I was expressing my discontent. There was no accommodation or refund made or anything. The only thing I received was a keg of urine tasting beer and a bitchy attitude. Whatever. When I returned home, my father called and expressed his discontent with how it was handled as well. The woman continued to argue my dad and eventually put him in contact with the owner. This woman reeked of professionalism. It must be a family owned establishment because she gave us the same lip as the beer junkie and put blame on us for "taking up" their precious time. When the woman tried to defend herself she said, "What difference does it make whether you got Coors or Bud Light? After two drinks anyway you can't taste the difference." This pissed me off even more. If it makes no difference, then why even offer a variety of beer to begin with. Although we weren't able to completely kill the keg, we made sure to get as much beer out of that sucker as possible to ensure they lost $$ on the deal (even if that meant pouring beer out to waste). I know I will never return to this cornerside distributor and I highly recommend that any massapequots do the same. read more

Been coming to this distributor for nearly 20 years. The women that work the front are never friendly, never smile and nobody is there to every proactively help you despite a wide beer selection. I only go out of convenience because it is on my way home. My last straw with them was when I went to get a new keg I ordered two weeks earlier. I hadn't been able to pick it up the prior weekend and I got a message during the previous week asking if I still wanted the keg. I called the woman back and said yes I would pick it up Sat morning. She said fine. When I went to pick up the keg on Sat morning a man (the owner?) starts yelling at me telling me he sold it and left me 4 messages. I said - I am looking at my phone log and have 1 message and one returned call saying I wanted it. He keeps yelling at me nonetheless. Yelling at a customer? I told him he wouldn't have my business again and walked out as another customer says to me as we are walking out "I can't believe they would talk to a customer like that". That is some way to treat a long time customer who has bought a lot of beer, kegs, etc from this place. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for a more friendly experience and much cheaper prices. read more
