Having done a lot of our own research as to the different types of flooring available to us, our next step was whether retailers would have what we liked. We found many did not have the selection to give us more choice. We needed to find a good retailer who has good customer service and has staff who do excellent installation because we were not going to do it ourselves. At one big box retailer we were not too impressed by their impersonal sales staff, because they provided us with limited information on what would be involved to have the existing carpet removed and have the underlay and the new floor installed. A good friend had used Metrotown Floors and Interiors before and had referred us to contact them with our flooring project. So we made some time to contact them and to go visit their showroom. The showroom had a very good selection of all types of good to high quality flooring. The customer service representative Al Eris welcomed us as we came through the door. He asked us what was our plan and what needed to be done. Then, he made a home visit to measure the work space and bring up any concerns that needed to be addressed. For example, what baseboards could be used that would go best with the current door frames, trimming of the doors, and to consider that we may need to level the underground floor before installing the underlay and the new flooring. We were impressed by Al's professionalism and his attention to detail. So impressed that we chose to go with Metrotown Floors. Once we chose the underlay and flooring we wanted Al was quick to give us samples of the product, and he advised us of the cost estimate within a reasonable amount of time. He put the time and effort into understanding our needs and he was there for us before, during, and even after our job was completed. Reaching out to us to see if we had any concerns with the installation and if we are satisfied with his customer service and the hard working staff who did the installation. As such, it goes without saying that we would not hesitate to recommend Metrotown Floors and Interiors to all our family and friends. Sincerely, Kenneth and Nancy

Al at Metrotown Floors worked closely with the restoration company that was coordinating the clean up. Metrotown supplied and installed all new flooring and cabinetry to our home that looked great and were in consultation with us constantly. Their pricing was very competitive with other suppliers and their installers were top notch. I would highly recommend Metrotown to anyone looking for new flooring and cabinetry.

When I went to see Maureen to let her know that it was time....she remembered me from our previous meeting years prior! After a few months of changing my mind as to what I wanted to do with my floor I finally made up my mind. If I was Maureen I would have thought, "Oh God here he comes again" when I walked into the store. After Maureen came to my place and did all the measuring she emailed me a quote the next day and thanked me for allowing her to come to my home. ice.Really? No need to thank me but thats so nice! She walked me through the install process with their counterparts Windmill Flooring and I have to say the two day install all be it a little stressful for my 4 paw wonder was pretty much flawless. My career has, and still is based on customer service which seems to be disappearing these days but if Maureen is a reflection on the rest of your staff then you guys arent going anywhere anytime soon! Big shout out to Hamid from Windmill your an amazing guy....you were amazing and also had a great suggestion as to what to do to comfort my cat while doing the baseboard install. THEY CUT MY FRONT DOOR! I wasn't there when this happened. They didn't ask me or tell me afterwards. I've called and emailed over and over again and they have not fixed a thing. Horrible service. I regret paying for the job now because they no longer care about what they did. Also, the pulled the fire alarm. My strata sent me the bill for it and the contractors never told me about. In short, shotty workmanship and no communication. Not a business I would recommend working with. In fact, avoid.

Mike's arranged for Leo to do the work and after we arranged to be home during the week, he canceled same day, without notice. We set up another date, this time he shows up, removes the baseboard and carpet then determines the concrete is not level, which is true. We call Mike's for a quote to level this 9'x11' room and are told $800. Leo tells us Mike is ripping us off and says he'll do it for $500. We eventually agree and Leo comes back and levels the floor. The next day he returns and lays the hardwood, except that the very first board he puts down won't fit under the transition because he's raised the floor at least a quarter inch too high. Leo is such a hack that he continues the room figuring it's good enough. He proceeds to install boards that either he damaged, or were damaged before, without caring about the outcome. Upon examining the end result I discover what he's done. There's a large gap in the floor in very visible spot. Later when trying to work with Mike's to get a solution, Leo cancels again without notice. When he does show up, it's evening and I understand now, that he has no intent to help. He doesn't bring any tools, starts changing his story about what is possible to fix the problem and starts to get belligerent when questioned. Finally when I've had enough of Leo and how he is speaking to my wife and I, ask him to leave but he won't. When he does run away he doesn't take any paint sample with him which is necessary to match the transitions. I run down with the sample and he speeds away through a crosswalk, almost hitting my neighbor with his car. Leo then calls the police; I can only assume because he's worried the neighbor reported him. He provides the police an audio recording he made with his phone of entire time he's on my premises. He also tells the police that I chased and threatened him and tried to break the windshield of his car! As if this story isn't crazy enough, he also tell the police that he has a dash cam which shows me trying to break his windshield. Of course no such footage is ever produced. Why would a contractor show up on a job site without tools to do a job and secretly record the interaction while talking nonsense about what was possible and not possible? I am considering filing a small claims case against both parties to bring this to light and make each understand consumers have the right not to be ripped off, lied to, subjected to terrible service and harrased. Mike's hiring of immoral, incapable contractors is deplorable but that should come as no surprise when reading his reviews. You'll notice that most of Mike's reviews are obviously fake. Look at the number of past reviews made by the positive reviewers. They're hit and run reviews - fake accounts. This flooring was meant to be a gift from my wife, she had faith that Mike's was a reputable business. Good luck with Mike's. In my experience, you'll get a substandard job with obvious flaws and a ton of drama. His warranty is only as good as his character. I've not heard back from him. Happy to answer any questions to people considering this company.
