We were close enough to make it here to have a cruise. I was excited that the cruise provided us the closest view of the SS United States. Being able to get this close before it became the world's largest artificial reef was the highlight of the cruise. Friendly staff and a full bar with snacks only enhanced our trip. I went on the murder mystery dinner cruise with my mom and aunt and we had a blast! It truly started before you even step foot on board. The experience was sooo immersive. Someone even ended up choosing my mom as a prime suspect! I like that it's not scripted so you can go again and it be a different experience every time. The ambiance downstairs in the boat was nice. The food was also great. There were simple salads on the table when we sat down. Later in the evening they brought out the main course- shrimp skewers, rice, green beans, a roll, and chicken with a delicious sauce. For dessert we had a berry pie with whipped cream. All of the food was good. The service was impeccable. Our servers made sure to refill our glasses of wine with a sizable pour. We loved this experience and would love to come back again! read more

I gave two stars because the crew working the boat were absolutely awesome, friendly and very attentive. I didn't expect much from the food as it comes from off site, while being dry and overcooked, it was presented very well. I paid extra for us to be upstairs. It was very disappointing. The boat is completely enclosed making it feel very confined. There was a band that played so loudly conversation, even across the table became labored. The cruise in Mobile Bay was fascinating seeing all the container ships. I would have much preferred commentary on what we were seeing during dinner and music later, maybe after dinner. When the band took a break and the prerecorded music was playing, it was much more enjoyable. We went outside a few times just to get away from the blaring drummer and finally ended up sitting downstairs until the cruise was over as it was more quiet. Sadly we ended up playing with our phones a good part of the time as conversation was difficult and it was just very boring. But again, the crew did a yeoman's job of making everyone feel welcome. read more

I booked this trip for a date night. It was definitely hot outside but the AC inside the main cabin was wonderful! We were quickly seated and it wasn't long before they were offering drinks and bringing food. (Water and tea came with the meal but you can purchase cocktails additionally) It's a set menu so if you are picky, maybe eat before or after. We thoroughly enjoyed it though. (Roasted chicken topped with a delicious cream sauce, sauteed vegetables, rice fritter and a roll) It even came with dessert. (blueberry bread pudding with lemon sauce) They have a full bar and several severs constantly moving around to help. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. There was a nice mix of people onboard. Couples, families and folks of all ages. They had a sweet family there celebrating their grandmother's birthday. We all sang to her and another gentleman on the boat. It's a festive environment and easy to get acquainted and enjoy the other guests. The band plays upstairs but the music pipes throughout the boat. It was a pretty good R&B band that kept everyone dancing for hours. After we ate, we moved up to the top to enjoy the entertainment. Even though it was hot, there was a gorgeous breeze that felt wonderful. As I said, this was a date night and even though it was easy to enjoy the music and the crowd; we also spent quite a bit of time relaxing just enjoying the ride, the scenery and each other. We booked a River boat trip with friends for the Murder Mystery cruise by the BayCity Improv group. We took the 3:30PM trip with friends. The crew was very accommodating and friendly, the Improv Group was fabulous and funny. The audience was somewhat reserved at first but really got into the scene. Before it was over there was a lot of laughing! The food was good, cater by Daulphins. In-restaurant with them is better but this decent enough for a River cruise. The bar selection was really good! Bar tender was friendly and very helpful. Overall, a great Sunday afternoon River cruise. read more

We purchased the celebration package and I have to comment that the champagne was top tier! We were able to bring the roses home as a memory of the fun we had. Such an elegant atmosphere downstairs with a party upstairs. The family running this is certainly a wonderfully accommodating crew! We were pleased to learn that Dauphin's catered our delicious 3 course buffet! From a crisp strawberry and feta salad, shrimp pasta and warm blackberry cobbler we were thoroughly impressed. My aunt wants me to add that she felt like a Hollywood star with the treatment we received. My sister praised the band as one of the best live musicians she has ever heard! I was excited to see a dinner cruise option in downtown Mobile. We booked the Valentine dinner cruise @4:30 pm with friends. There is a later cruise at 7:30 pm. The tables were beautifully decorated for the evening. A buffet dinner consisted of Caesar salad, bread & butter, corn, black beans, coconut rice, shrimp and pasta casserole, and a Cuban pork. After dinner we were each brought a dessert of bread pudding. The food is catered for the PQ from Dauphin's Restaurant and was very delicious. Music by Beave and Cleave was enjoyed on the upper deck after dinner. My husband and I enjoyed the city lights from the boat while cruising. Very friendly staff! Day of get there and realize "accommodation" meant they just wouldn't get anything else but we paid the full price for 1/2 the food option. Thanks to a suggestion from a dear friend I decided to do the lunch cruise for my mom's 80th birthday. What a fantastic time this turned out to be! The weather was gorgeous. The crew was SUPER nice and accommodating. It was simply wonderful. The food was from Dauphin's and it was SO good! My mom said, "this is better than a restaurant any day! What a perfect birthday!" They usually surprise the birthday guest with a cocktail. But since my little mommy has never had anything stronger than chocolate milk, they made her a delightful strawberry smoothie! Overpriced for what it is, the murder mystery was fun to pass the time. The food though..... for paying 60 bucks a person the food was atrocious. I did like the salad.. but how do you mess up a salad. The vegetables were eggplant and squash, probably the 2 most unliked vegetables possible, they were prepared well though so I'll give them that. The "Cajun" roast beef was uneatable, the seasonings looked to be a can of rotel and waaaay too salty. Even the rice was seasoned in such a weird way you couldn't eat it. The desert was a chocolate sheet cake, tea and water included. If I had paid 20 bucks it wouldn't be so bad but the fact it was close to 140 a couple it was laughable that's what was served. Like someone previously wrote it was comparable to bad cafeteria food. It is such a fun concept that is ruined by terrible food! read more

SCAM!!! I spent $275 for the murder mystery dinner cruise on last Saturday for my wife and 10 year old son. We looked at the website, we called and spoke with someone, and then we booked the cruise. After about 20 minutes into the cruise we asked our waitress about the start time for the murder mystery. She informed us that they do not do the murder mystery on SATURDAYS of all days!!! They only had live music. This was not explained to me over the phone, nor was it listed on the website. It even allowed us to book the Murder Mystery Cruise for Saturday. I also found out there was an couple onboard who made their reservations back in January for the murder mystery dinner and was led to believe that this was that cruise only to find out that after waiting 5 months and traveling to Mobile they would not have a murder mystery dinner. THIS WAS SUCH A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!! The food was definitely not even worth $20 a plate and we ended up paying $275 for 3 people . We had more entertainment in the parking garage than on this boat and that only cost us $10. I spoke with the same person who I spoke with on Saturday who I assume is either the manager or the owner about this on Monday. The only thing he could say was that he was sorry. He asked if we were local and said he could offered us a bottle of (cheap) champaign on our next booking. I explained to him we live over 4.5 hours away and that we would like either a partial refund, or a raincheck for another cruise because their website was misleading and on the verge of false advertising and on top of that he spoke with me booked the cruise and did not tell me the murder mystery cruise would not happen on Saturday. He refused to do either. I will make it a point to steer everyone away from this SCAM. Apparently this company is all about making that initial buck and couldn't care less about getting repeat customers. I looked today and they have tried to modify the website since he figured I was going to make a fuss about it. Again....... Don't waste your time or money. read more

This was the best time I've had in a long time. My boyfriend planned a very special night for me and it went off flawlessly. My baby orchestrated a proposal and the entire staff was in on it. I was on the 7:30 dinner cruise. This was the first time I had been on this boat and was excited. Salads were already on the table but did NOT get dinner until after 9pm. Had to request refills at least 3 times before receiving. Not sure if they were short on servers but it seemed like there was plenty of staff. Ok I can understand, but the down fall of the cruise was to be seated by a table of unruly people that allowed their small children to run rampent! When I say rampent, that is exactly what they did. Never once did the parents control these kids. Pulling on the beads that were hanging at the back window, stepping on our purses and just acting a fool. Yes I could have said something to the parents but did not want to cause a scene. The crew saw what was going on and did not say anything. The oldest was probably 4 and the youngest maybe 2 or 3. I raised 3 kids and I would never have allowed this type of behavior! I personally feel the late dinner cruise should be for adults only. The cost of tickets is too expensive to have to deal with this behavior from anyone! To me the staff could have been dressed a little more presentable. The captin or ( manager?} should have been more visible and mingle around the the boat to see what is going on. I truly believe in having fun and enjoying one's self but DO NOT infringe upon other guests! read more

I love the boat trip and the band. It was a great Valentine's Day surprise. I do have to say the food was terrible. My wife and I were amazed at how it was. If we would have been hungry it would have ruined our trip. Salad was limp, salad dressing was ok but could have been so much better. The rest of dinner was really bad. Dessert was ok but so small. Grits with dinner. How about some sort of potato or noodles. The chicken was terrible and almost see through. First off, I would like to say that we did have a good time on the cruise. We celebrated our anniversary and we decided, no matter what, we would have a good time. With that being said, everything about the food, the staff, the service, was disappointing. This 2.5 hour cruise around The Mobile Bay cost $154 for a couple. We were told that the food would be catered by Dauphins, which is a very nice, upscale restaurant downtown Mobile. What we were served, buffet style, was more like cafeteria type food. If I were Bob Baumhower, I would not want the name, Dauphins, anywhere associated with what we were served on this dinner cruise. I don't even know where to begin in describing the food. A large can of turnip greens, over boiled zucchini, roast that tasted like it had been cooked for days and potatoes that had to be 3 days old. We enjoyed spending time on the observation deck with the band, Remix, but would have like a little more upbeat music for a Friday night. I hate to have to say, we will not be returning nor referring any of our friends for this dinner cruise. read more

We booked a Sunday brunch cruise for a friend's birthday. We paid an extra $15 to be on the covered observation deck. When we arrived there were wilted salads on all the tables that had clearly been sitting for quite awhile. Drink orders and food delivery took well over 40 minutes (maybe bc they were understaffed which I understood) but when the drinks came out, they were watered down from waiting for someone to run them. Jazz music was decent and the musicians were very friendly, but it was entirely too loud for the small observation deck. Guests had to yell to hear over each other. The servers (at least the ones on observation deck) were not hospitable at all. Rarely smiled or offered any indication they were happy to see us, despite having already received a required 20% gratuity. Maybe there was no incentive to be kind? The boat route was also really disappointing. They took us out to the bay and immediately turned around. The brunch food (one piece of sausage, one scoop of shrimp n grits, one biscuit, some scrambled eggs, and some (actually delicious) bread pudding) was good, but very small servings considering the price. Drinks not included in the cost which was also sad. I, along with my party, were very underwhelmed by the experience and disappointed having paid $93/person for the cruise which included tax and gratuity. Would not recommend the "Live Jazz Brunch by Namans" on the Perdido Queen. read more

Giving this cruise 2 stars is a stretch for me. After seeing the ads for this run across my Facebook page for days, my boyfriend and I decided this would be a nice way to spend an evening on the water while enjoying dinner and the lights of downtown, so we booked the 7pm cruise. While the staff was very nice and courteous, the overall experience could use some drastic improvements. The dinner is advertised as being prepared by Dauphin's restaurant, but beware, the food we were served tasted and looked as though it was straight from a Sysco can without any added seasoning or prep. Also, the service was incredibly slow, so that only leaves about 30 minutes after the meal to go on the top deck to enjoy the cruise. We left before dessert was served just to have the 30 minutes on the upper deck. When we arrived at the top of the stairs, the music was SO LOUD that we (along with many others) couldn't even go into the band area because it hurt your ears. This was not the band playing, it was the can music they had on til the last 20 minutes of the cruise. The band was on the upper front of the boat just chilling with the rest of us who were trying to get away from the noise. The music throughout the boat was Motown from the time we boarded until we got back to the dock. Thankfully, we like Motown, but if it's not your thing, you may want to reconsider. The views of downtown Mobile are amazing at night from the water, but that is really the only thing you are getting for your money with this cruise. This is disappointing, because the Perdido Queen could be such an asset to our town if it was properly operated. To sum up, don't go for the food or the music, you are paying for 20 or so minutes of view. read more

We were so excited to go on the mystery murder cruise. The man who introduced the show said it wasn't scripted so anything could happen. I wish it had been scripted because it was such a mess. The characters were introduced then the buffet opened. The food was terrible! The best thing was the salad and I wish I would have just gotten that. It was poor quality and sloppy. We were hoping the show would get more cohesive after the dinner but it never did. The characters never had any purpose and there was just a lot of yelling and it was hard to follow. After a lot of confusion the one character fell on the floor of the deck and "died". The narrator of the show then started asking the guest who they thought killed him. The show was poorly put together with no direction or plot. I was extremely disappointed that we paid $160 for a couple to have a bad meal and awful show. We left feeling robbed. I wouldn't recommend this. I've been to other mystery dinner theaters and this doesn't even come close in comparison. read more
