Wow! What a cool place! Not too far out of town. They have beautiful place. From outside to inside it was top notch. They have really put the time into creating an amazing ambience. The grapes are brought in and then they bottle their own wine. We love red wine and had a wine tower for tasting. We left with a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Aviation red blend, and Monarch Primitivo. They make their own beer as well, have wine slushies and food. The bartender was great very knowledgeable and friendly. I didn't catch her name. We met the owner as well. He came outside to us and explained how he brews etc. Again 100% recommended. read more

I live and grew up in California, so being able to visit a winery in the south while visiting my parents was a great treat! The interior design is as gorgeous as the exterior. Such a beautiful property. They have a wide selection of wines and delicious wine slushies too. Great date spot, even had some excellent live music on Friday night. We loved this place! We stayed in downtown fairhope for a bachelorette and it was about a 20 minute drive. The wine tasting was perfect and we each ordered a menu item to share with the table. We ended up taking half the cheeseboard home because we had so much food. it was very chill and they had live music playing on the Friday night. It was perfect so we could hear each other talk and have conversation. The staff was so helpful and the owner was so kind and took a group photo for us! Loved this place! read more

Hosts and servers are top notch. They greet you with a sincere smile and greeting making you feel right at home. The decor is welcoming and comfortable. Our party was chilly and the manager turned off the overhead fans at our request. They make their wines and my wife was very pleased with her wine. I drank a Mule and liked the taste but thought there was mostly ice in the mug. I was pleased by the selection of foods and deserts on the menu. I had the Cobb salad with a chicken breast on top nicely cooked and sliced. It was tender enough to cut with a fork. I was very pleased with the salad. Several got pizzas and enjoyed their selection. Two in our party got the grilled cheese sandwich. It was not a big hit. Then there was the mushroom soup and wow was it good. Highly recommend. The interior is large and roomy and pleasantly decorated. As we were leaving we noticed there was a mahjong tournament going on at many of the tables. Good use of the space. This was so easy to get to ; straight south on Rt 181 to Rt 32 and you're there. I hope this becomes so much more popular. We intend to make it a regular event. Well done Southern Grove Winery. It was good. They have spared no expense as far as atmosphere and decor. It's really beautiful. The slushy of the day was very good. To me, the food is expensive for what you get. We ordered the pizza which was $21 and you get basically two pieces. ‍ I also think it's very much a women's place. They will need to add beer to attract a male clientele, which I think is in the works. There were several large groups of women there while we were there. As a California native living in wine country, I was super excited to see a winery in Alabama! We drove up from Orange Beach just to check it out. This is a beautiful winery and the hospitality was terrific. It is clear that they work hard with the terroir and are ever evolving in their winemaking and growing techniques. The wines were not like California and that is what I loved! They were well made and unique on their own level and are representative of the characteristics of Alabama grapes! Be sure to try the wine shine!! This winery is very worth checking out if you are visiting the Gulf Shores or Mobile area or anywhere in the vicinity!!!! read more

The place is beautiful. Our server was very friendly and very personable. We ordered a Gathering tray. It was very good and plentiful. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. The music was to loud and we asked them to turn it down and they were accommodating. Why I gave it a lower rating is price. Our friend ordered a slushy and it was $19. A bottle of wine I wouldn't consider great was $28 or $36. We would love to return with our adult children but it's a little pricey to treat them. read more

Great new venue in Fairhope, AL. Winery, tasting room with good comfort food. The place is great, well designed with lots of seating in a cozy environment. The service personnel is well versed in their wines. At the end of October 2024, their selection will be nice. The winery is located in an old farm with beautiful landscape and large parking lot.
