We applied and interviewed in person and were accepted on the spot. We moved in a few days early, due to our previous lease expiring early. He was great letting us move in those few days early free of charge. However, when we went to pick up the keys, he had forgotten we were moving in and didn't have the keys ready. So we sat, with packed moving truck ready to move with no keys! He gave us the keys he did have, which was only 3 out of the 7 or 8 we were supposed to be getting. And only one set, when we should have gotten two. Anyways, we spent the whole day moving and we spent the night there so we could get up early the next day and finish moving before my fiance had to leave for work. We were greeted the next morning by Reed Harris FURIOUS and telling us we were to move FURNITURE ONLY, not to sleep there until the 1st, which was news to us!! He then told us that he was terminating the lease and we had 30 days to vacate because the people below complained we were disturbing the peace!!! I don't know how we disturbed their peace just from moving in, but they called him at 4am saying we were moving furniture around all night long. What ACTUALLY happened (not that he bothered to hear our side of things) is our cat, being in an unfamiliar place, jumped onto a box and knocked something over in the night. The guys below us rang our doorbell, we told them the scenario and that we would make sure it didn't happen again, so we stayed up all night keeping the cat calm and quiet. When we explained this to Reed Harris, he said we weren't even supposed to have two cats, he only allowed one!! WHAT??!?!?!? We said in both the application AND the interview we had two cats!!! Now, he doesn't remember that part either? Geez! When we tried telling him that we hadn't even been there 24 hours and in Chicago, it's illegal to do that to someone before 90 days, he said he didn't care - he just wanted us out. Both my mom and my fiance's mom were there helping us move and were explaining that we didn't do anything wrong and that he didn't even give us a chance to prove how quiet and responsible we are, but he didn't listen to them either. Little did I know, that would be the easy part! We went back to the apartment service that set up the arrangement and told them what had happened and we didn't know what to do, since we've never been in this position and didn't know how we got there in the first place. They said again to us, that what he did was in fact, Illegal. We ended up getting our money back, but not after 50 phone calls and angry voice mails saying how he was sorry, that he overreacted. A bit to late for me, I wanted nothing to do with him after that scene he caused! Anyways, we did get all of our money back, but this is one guy I wouln't want as an attourney OR a landlord. His memory is going and he has insane outbursts of anger, then gets emotional after he's done the damage! Be warned, this guy is not stable!!!!!!

Warren did help out during our contract negotiation by asking for specific language that only a lawyer would ask for. However, he was sloppy and even put some items on our post inspection request that weren't in the report. I think that was a copy and paste mistake. He also was slow to respond to emails and actually delayed our process a little bit which was frustrating since I told him we're hoping for a fast closing. At the end of the day we got what we needed, but he added additional stress to an already stressful process which was very unfortunate.

At the closing he explained all the minutiae so it actually made sense (!). He was also very careful with the contracts. My realtor was extremely impressed with Warren's thoroughness in protecting my interests if things fell through ... and I ended up bidding on three places, so this was an extended process. I will say, in response to the other review, that Warren takes the time to be thorough, make sure he answers questions correctly with actual knowledge, and preferably move things forward between phone calls/emails. This typically takes a little longer than humoring anxious buyers (and we're all anxious) with nutritionless hand-holding. I was glad he was focusing his time on getting things right rather than calling/emailing to tell me he'd call/email me later every time, but maybe that's just me.
