This all started in 1999 when Osceola/Orange county DCF was taking people's children and not giving them back. They eventually would sell tge children for adoption to the highest bidder. He got us in front if the Judge but DCF dismissed the dcf worker and got their DCF attorneys into the fight because they knew after 3 years of fighting if I got ny children back I was going to sue the CRAP out of them. The case went another year, and DCF still fought me, I gave up, after a 4 tear fight and signed my rights away to my 2 girls. My daughters biological father was willingly signing over his rights if I took him off child support). Unfortunately for me Leon Mercedes was representing my daughters biological father previous cases so she knew him before me. Going in I could already see the favoritism, she did not care to know my side of the story, but was addiment that the only way bio father would sign over his rights was through her because he trusted her only. I knew this was going to be a conflict of interest, but I agreed to have her represent me in this case and bio dad because according to her it was an easy case and "there was no conflict of interest since me and my bio dad were on the same page". She requested 4000 of me and none from him, but this has been a long time coming roller coaster and I as a mother willing to do anything for my daughters safety and happiness. I agreed and paid the Leon the attorney the money. No one will understand the desperation me and my family had to have this process completed and my daughters out if harms way for good. She took advantage of me and my family's vulnerability. Leon work style is extremely UNETHICAL and she did ILLEGAL activity during the time that she represented me. She took mine and my husbands signatures on blank pieces of paper (which is illegal) but her argument was I needed to trust her that she does this to all her clients. Hesitantly I signed, my husband was not going to but he knew everything we have gone through over the years with bio dad, his family, and my daughter and he just wanted to make me happy and also signed the blank paper. After I got home I did some research and overthinking and ended up messaging the Leon the attorney and let her know that what she asked of us was wrong and that I did not want her to our signatures. She "agreed", but I know the damage was already done. I will never find out which documents she used our signatures for. She told me there was still paperwork I needed to sign after the step father adoption was complete to terminate child support but those documents were never sent to me. I will never know what our signatures were used for. That my fault, I let my desperation cloud my judgement and my husbands. She made me believe that any child support arrears was also automatically terminated. I only ever agreed to take bio dad off child support I never mentioned anything about arrears. On the day of hearing Literally 15 minutes before getting on the facetime call with the judge she was going over some questions that the judge will ask. One of those questions was do I agree to relieve bio dad of arrears support owed. In that moment I realized it was my option that I could say no I don't agree. She got so angry with me just asking; she began yelling, acting completely hieratical and unprofessional in front of my husband, me, and my 2 daughters 10 and 6 years old. Me and my husband starred at her in complete shock the way she was acting, my daughters terrified; I tried to reason with her and explain why it was not fair that I could not in front of the judge express how I felt that he should have to pay arrears after 9 years going to court all the money spent and that's not even 1 quarter of everything he put my daughter and myself through to them agree to sign over his rights if I take him off child support, on top of that having to pay her alone the 4000 for a super easy case. She immediately played victim after her tyrant saying she made an agreement with bio dad and she would look bad if I did not agree to the terms she made. When I basically told her that its not my fault she made that agreement with him without checking properly informing me and checking with me first she got so angry again telling me she was not going to represent me that now it was a conflict of interest. AGAIN this is minutes before the judge and us were supposed to get on the video call. Once she told me she would not represent me my husband stepped in to calm things down basically telling me we don't need anything from bio dad and we have made it all the way to this point to start over was not in our best interest. Leon the attorney made me lie under oath to the judge threatening me that she would not represent me further if I did not agree. Desperate and emotional out 4000 dollars I complied. I will never recommend you Leon Mercedes to represent anyone and will always share my experience. You know what you did was illegal and unethical, how you handled the case how you treated me and my family and how you took advantage of us. Just to make it clear the only reason I chose is because bio dad trusted you and I knew this was the only way it would be "smooth", but my blood boils every time I think about how you took advantage of my only weakness my daughter. I went in for my free…read moreconsultation because I was charged with a racing and speeding fine to then be greeted by two lawyers and for one of them to crack a joke about it and think it was funny acting like I already committed the offense when I went there in the first place because I didn't commit it, and knew the cop was just trying to stretch the situation because of my clean record. During the whole consultation they were trying to convince me that I was guilty of the offense, even though I was fully aware that I didn't, and for him to compare his BMW to my toyota corolla speeding on a highway doing 100mph even though I was on a local road coming off a red light which I know for a fact that a toyota corolla can not reach those speeds which a stock engine even trying too. Not only that but for the other lawyer to be very unprofessional and to bring up his personal problems with his wife as she calls him during my consultation interrupting us. I basically paid them $1,500 for them to just sit down and do nothing, but file motions trying to push back the court dates hoping it would dismiss the case, but obviously and some may know no court would dismiss a case because the judicial system are money hungry towards traffic citations. During this whole time I heard nothing from them I would have to be the one to call them and stay on top of them, which obviously they don't like because they would tend to ignore my calls. Once the judge came to them with a deal they obviously hoped on it as soon as possible and tried there best to convince me to agree which I did because I knew if I didn't take it they would loose the case because I could tell they were terrible lawyers that just help the judge squeeze the most money out of the client. Basically to wrap things up they made me take the deal and pay more money to the court and not only that but I still had to fight the speeding ticket which they also didn't even show up to court for which I also paid them to help me fight which then again they made me plea guilty because they were to lazy to fight it. They are just another pair of lawyers that help the judicial system squeeze money out of people.

My case manager was Greg Alter and he was fantastic. I had never been in any kind of accident that required a lawyer before but I realized that I would definitely need one I am so glad I made the decision to hire Draper Law Offices. I didn't have to pay anything until the case was over and, of course, Greg was very upfront about what their firm charged. They really took all of the weight off of my shoulders. The entire process took a little more than 6 months but all I can say is it was such a relief to be working with a law firm. Some days were so tough but it was wonderful not to have to worry about anything other than going to the doctor visits.
