We had a honeymoon planned for February 2026 -- or at least, we thought we did. Gretchen and her company charged us a $300 administration fee up front, which she said was required for her to guide us step-by-step through the entire planning process and be available to us during our trip. It was pitched as a fully supported, stress-free experience. All we had to do was show up. From the beginning, communication was incredibly poor. I gave her the benefit of the doubt at first due to the wildfires in California at the time, even going out of my way to check in on her and her family. I chalked up missed deadlines to the fires and tried to be understanding. But now, with our wedding quickly approaching, we realized we had NO flight details, NO itinerary, and hadn't even heard from her in months. I reached out to check in -- and she left me on read. This wasn't the first time either. I would send polite follow-up messages like: "Hi, I can see that you've read my message, so I guess you're really busy. Can we schedule a time to talk?" Only then would she respond. This cycle happened more than once. But this month was the final straw. I reached out to start looking at plane tickets -- she left me on read again. I then followed up, expressing clearly that we were no longer comfortable continuing and wanted to know what we needed to do to receive a refund. We also paid over $1k to reserve our stay at one of the quickly booked hotels, so it was important for us to get this information. She never responded. Completely ghosted us. No explanation. No apology. Just silence. We were never rude to her. We were patient and understanding. And still -- she disappeared on us and left us without a honeymoon. This has been heartbreaking, stressful, and completely unprofessional. After digging deeper, I found that we're NOT the only ones. There are many hidden negative reviews that share the same experience: * No communication * Ghosting clients * People almost missing flights * Others stranded out of the country with no help She may still have good reviews online, but don't be fooled -- the bad ones are there, and they echo exactly what happened to us. This might be a scam. Use a credit card if you do move forward so you can dispute the charges. But honestly -- don't risk it. We're going to report this company to every wedding, travel, and consumer site we can find. If you care about your honeymoon (and your money), look elsewhere. read more

Our trip to Rosewood Little Dix Bay was made so much better through the care that Jim provided. He was able to maintain our low-season rate throughout many delays and changes, was able to get us upgrades, and provided key help as we navigated the new procedures to enter the BVI. When leaving, Jim was even able to negotiate an additional resort credit that we weren't expecting. Our two week honeymoon to a few islands in Tahiti was perfect and we cannot thank him enough for all his recommendations and hard work to make our honeymoon so wonderful! We met with Steve to discuss the locations, time frame, and activities we wanted for our honeymoon. In addition to Bora Bora and Moorea, we knew we wanted to explore another island and Steve's recommendation of Le Taha'a was a trip highlight for us! We chose this agency because of it's high ratings and proximity to where we live. I first contacted them to plan our italian honeymoon 7 months ago and was told it was too early, come back. Offputting, but we requested a meeting in person a few months later. The meeting in the office was fantastic but that is about where the fantastic ended. We walked in the door with a pretty strict but realistic budget. Jim mentioned we may have to raise it to get the trip we wanted, but mentioned he'd do his best and could get an itineary put together in three days. Weeks and weeks went by with me sending an occasional reminder message with no itinerary. I understand he has other clients and he isn't going to be as excited about my honeymoon as I am, but he shouldn't have made promises he had no intention to keep. We still had plenty of time so we were trying to stick with it. We finally got an itinerary after 6 weeks. It was within the budget he told us we'd have to stretch to (but was $3K over ours). For a once in a lifetime trip, we could figure out how to stretch. With excitement I started to google the hotels that he chose. EVERY hotel for the trip was 5 stars. Now, if money was not an issue I would not complain about this at all. But two days after putting on a vineyard party for over 100 of our closest friends and family is not an ideal time. We dont want to go to Italy and just admire the wallpaper. If we have to have a higher budget we'd rather spend it on tickets to see something or an upgrade to the rental car or something, really enjoy our trip. I asked Jim to make some adjustments to the itinerary, and more and more weeks went by. We requested another meeting in person to push the issue. At this meeting we all agreed to the tweaks. However, Jim now told us that one of the hotels and the rental car weren't included in the price (which was still an imaginary number we didn't know). These two items have a potential to add at least $1K to the budget so we were kind of shocked, but eye on the prize we wrote a check for half the trip as a deposit...a different and higher ammount he had told us we would need to put down in earlier communications. I should have stopped the press several times in this process, but with all of the other wedding planning issues I am dealing with I just didn't have the energy to fight this one. I thought for sure that with actual money down we would get a finalized itinary and price since after 7 months of shenanigans we are now much closer to our travel date. Again, we wait. With each passing week I kept getting more and more angry about all of the past issues we and just requested our deposit back. For a man I had to beg to do anything, he responded almost immediately with our check. Interesting, but we're happy to get our money back. We travel internationally on our own regularly but for this important of a trip we though we could use some help. We gave him plenty of time, and our budget was tight but totally realistic. If there was some method to the madness I would have appreciated just being told so to save everyone time and headache. read more

Jim did our honeymoon for us in 2007. (I know..."you're just writing this review NOW?") So yes it's late but the best things...... He was introduced to us by some friends whose honeymoon he planned. We also wanted to go to a warm place, and after batting a few ideas around with Jim, we settled on Hawaii. He explained our options, and really helped us draw up a vacation that was all parts what we wanted. One week of doing nothing, one week of fun and one week of more modern comforts. He knew the areas of both the big island and Maui like the back of his hand, and was overflowing with recommendations. The price was not cheap, but it was reasonable for the amount of time we were going. AND, he surprised us with a gift in the room upon our arrival. Jim helped my wife and I by arranging the perfect honeymoon. Sure, some might think that anybody can just read a "Top Ten" islands magazine to find the best place, but this is so much better. Let me explain. First, he has personally been to each of these places. And by sending frequent customers to certain top spots, the resorts are far more likely to give a double upgrade, vs having to ask for a favor as a one time trip goer. We did get one of those upgrades for free and it was amazing. We couldn't have gotten it ourselves. Secondly he knows the details of Hurricane season and small details you won't get in Travel and Leisure. Sure if I did it myself, maybe I would find some deal, or a Groupon, but then find out later it was on sale due to some monsoon season. Is it worth it? FAR FROM PERFECT HONEYMOON Working with Jim was truly a horrible experience. I was shocked by his lack of professionalism and rude behavior. We for the most part planned our own honeymoon. He took months to finalize our plans and we suffered from that as not having many options for flights and hotels. He waited so long to book our flight our seats on the way home from italy were row 42, the very LAST seats on the plane for a 9+ hour flight in seats that did NOT recline. He also made us use europcar for our car rental even though I am a preferred member with Avis and specifically asked if we could use them. He said there would not be an avis overseas...sure enough Jim was wrong about that in Milan and Naples they had Avis. I'm fairly certain he was accruing his own reward points. Lastly there was 1 night we had no hotel which was an oversight on his part, thank goodness I realized it before we left! Very stressful to figure out where we could get in another night during peak season to travel in italy and ended up paying another night in an expensive hotel. Not ideal but we had few options. I decided it would be better for future customers to hear his own words and decide if they want to work with him. Below is a recount of our email exchange. JAN 3 2017 We submitted our honeymoon questionnaire and credit card info. JANUARY 17: JIM: Julie, ugg this ended up in my spam folder for some reason so I just now saw it. Let me get started on this right away. (sent Jan 3rd) FEB 6th: ME: Hey jim has there been any progress? Not sure how this process works but I thought we would have a loose itinerary put together and confirmation that the trip was booked?  Let me know if there is any more information you need from me.  Thank you! We stayed at The Intercontinental in Moorea and Four Seasons in Bora Bora. Moorea was amazing... When we arrived we got treated like a king and queen. Jim recently planned a 40th birthday trip to Mexico for me and my wife along with several other couples. We gave him a max budget and a list of things we were looking for ( i.e. all inclusive/adults only/good food/top shelf alcohol etc). Jim came up with 4 great options to choose from and the group was able to choose what we thought fit us best. I am happy to say the resort and the trip overall exceeded our expectations. The resort was beautiful, rooms and all facilities were very clean and well kept, beach and pools were perfect for whatever mood you were in that day (party pool/float down the river pool/relax in peace and quiet pool). Jim took care of the flights and transportation to and from the resort and gave us a list of suggested excursions if we wanted to venture out. The is the third time my wife and I have used Jim and he has not missed yet. There was no research or hassle involved on our end and the total price was equal to or better than what we could have booked ourselves had we already known about the place. What can we say. Jim is amazing. Jade Mountain is amazing. We had a phenomenal time and frankly didn't want to ever leave. We arrived on Friday right after Tropical Storm Ernesto blew threw. We were greeted upfront and given room JA3, a Star suite. It was unbelievable. The view of the Pitons, the view of the ocean were all amazing. As Jim suggested, the total romance package was the way to go. It afforded us the ability to eat whenever we wanted and to have a number of outings. We did a good number of them, the jungle biking tour the volcano/botanical garden tour, the half-day sailing, the snorkeling, and the free t-shirts. We ate in our room every morning for breakfast, we ate lunch occasionally in our room but mostly down on the beach or over at Anse Mamin (amazing burgers), ate dinner at Jade (and some in our room) almost every night except for the rum punch gathering and one at the indian restaurant on the beach. The food was AMAZING. I love food and we ate like kings and queens every day. It was unholy how much and how good the food is at Jade. Everything is fresh and local (except for the beef). We ate breads, fruits, etc for breakfast along with wonderful fresh fruit juice. The room was amazing too. It was hard for us to justify leaving the room at any point but we did manage to get out and do a number of activities. We read a lot in the room and did hang out in the pool a decent amount. What made the week especially great was the service from everyone. From the minute we got off the plane until the moment we left. The butlers took care of everything we needed, from delivering food to the room to handling our itineraries. And they were pleasant the entire time. I think it is fair to say that Jim has ruined us for future vacations :) This was an amazing trip and Jim was instrumental in making it all happen. We can't thank him enough for the recommendations and setting all of it up including the upgrade. We will definitely be interested in working with him in the future. read more

My husband I are worked with Jim to help us plan our honeymoon. We have never gone through a travel agent before, but in this case, because there are just so many logistics when planning a long honeymoon, we decided we wanted to find someone to do all the detail work for us. When we met with Jim, we weren't certain where we wanted to go. We gave him our top 3 choices, and he was completely upfront and honest about the pros and cons of each area. He did not try to sugar coat anything. He had been to all of the locations himself, so it was great to hear his firsthand experience about each place. We really appreciated that because, when planning a wedding, we all know how much people are trying to take advantage of us. One we narrowed it down to Hawaii, and told him we wanted to do a week in both Maui and Kauai, he gave us a wonderful proposal just 2 days later! He had covered everything: flights, rentals, and hotels. All the stuff that is painful to search for when you don't know an area. A few weeks before we left for the wedding, we went to pick up our travel documents from him. This allowed us to ask all of those last-minute questions. He had organized the entire travel itinerary for us, complete with maps and the top things to do in each location. And we did quite a bit of those things on the package of information he provided for us! So how was the honeymoon? Spectacular. Jim really took our requests when picking the hotel locations for us. We said we wanted quiet, away from all the really touristy areas, and that's exactly what we got. And because of his relationships with these hotels, we were put in beautiful rooms on both islands. Because Jim has been a travel agent for a long time, and has personal experience to all of these locations, he makes for a fantastic travel agent. Even though we went on our honeymoon 3 months after getting married, it was just so nice to have someone do all of the details. We highly recommend Jim as a travel agent, and plan on returning to him in the future when we plan our next big trip. read more

Our honeymoon was amazing! I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We loved both St Lucia and Barbados. I think one of the smartest things we did at Jade Mountain was booking the all inclusive package--food and drink were really expensive, and it was nice to not have to worry about that. We took a sunset sail one day that I would highly recommend to other couples--it was lots of fun and the views were gorgeous. All in all, we found Jade Mountain incredibly beautiful and relaxing--truly the perfect place to get away from it all after wedding craziness. Sandy Lane was incredible. We were upgraded to an ocean front room, which was stunning. The golf was perfect, the food was wonderful, the beach and pool were amazing. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful, and we could not have asked for a more perfect golf destination. It was well worth the cost. I think for us, having a few days of doing "nothing" followed by golf and activities was great--we're generally always doing things, and so I think sitting on a beach for 10 days and doing nothing else would have been a little too much inactivity. I contacted Jim a few months ago and told him that I wanted to plan a family vacation this summer to the carribean. We talked over the phone for a few minutes and I gave him some detail and he came up with a few alternatives that I kind of liked. Toward the end of the conversation, I told him there wasn't a big rush since we had some time but he promised to get back to me in a week with some more detail. Well, almost a month went by and I started to get a little annoyed but that big of a deal since I felt he may have more pressing matters. So, I called him back and he remembered our initial conversation and said he would have to pull my file and call me back. That was about 2 months ago and I haven't heard a word. I picked this agency because of the nice write-up they had in the Washingtonian. I have planned vacations on my own in the past but wanted a professional this time around since I was not that familiar with either of the destinations that we are planning to visit. I understand people get busy and I have no problem with that if they simply pick-up the phone and (at least) give a status of what's going on. However, in these case, it was more like being "blown off" no other words. So, I figure, if I can't rely on these people to simply make a return phone call, why would I trust them to arrange a trip for me and my family to parts unknown. So, you may be better using KAYAK instead of these guys...... read more

We had never used a travel agent before but after our friends used one for their honeymoon (not this company), we decided to do it as we didn't have time to plan a trip. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. It seemed like a cookie cutter trip that Jim planned for us and didnt provide options of places to stay. We had made ONE request about our trip (specific amenity at a resort) and Jim failed to accommodate that. He seemed put off on trying to help us and was borderline rude. He took a really long time to reply to emails. We ended up with one resort which was a 1.5 hours away from anything and it was the only place to eat at for multiple days. The cost of our trip even went up at one point because he failed to book it quickly. He also said that because he worked with these resorts a lot, they would go above and beyond and give us extra attention for our honeymoon. This was completely false. I felt that he made it out to sound like he could provide a great service but after we paid the fee, he didn't follow through on his guarantee. The only reason that I am giving 2 stars is that everything went smoothly on the trip and we enjoyed the resorts we stayed at. But I would never recommend or use him again. read more

We met Jim at a Washingtonian event and scheduled a meeting with him several months later, prior to our wedding. Jim's sales tactics were similar to a used car salesman. He initially told us a honeymoon to Greece would be between 6000-7000 and after I advised him that 6000 was the top of our budget, he then said we would be hard pressed to have a honeymoon vacation in Greece without spending an additional 2000 beyond the 6000 he previously quoted, a complete contradiction. We found him to be offputting and insulting, as he pretty much insinuated that I was cheap after I told him we wanted to find a good value for our honeymoon. It was obvious he's focused on providing service to those people who are not working within any budget. A more mature sales person would have handled their potential clients more professionally. read more

Perfect Honeymoons and Holidays planned and arranged the honeymoon of our dreams. Working with Jim Augerinos was a terrific experience from start to finish. It all started with the questionnaires that we completed prior to our initial consultation. Jim took everything into account... our own individual preferences regarding desired activities (or lack of!), previous travel experiences, budget, etc. to help start the discussion. After some decisions on our end, Jim created a trip proposal that was tailored to us in every way. Travel day came and armed with the two, 10+ page documents that Jim provided us with, which had full descriptions of each of the islands and "things to do and see" (our honeymoon would take us to two islands), every detail was planned meticulously and all of our travels and arrangements went off without a hitch. The honeymoon was better than we could have imagined... from the accommodations, the recommendations for activities, and restaurants, everything was nothing short of amazing. Though it was of course not guaranteed, Jim was able to work some magic and secure us upgrades at the hotels on both islands. We were so happy with the experience that we have been referring friends and family... the funny thing is that three other couples we know getting married this year are already using him! They were all so wonderful we had a hard time choosing (and we had to decide we'll just take the others as other trips like a babymoon). The actual trip (to Belize) was fantastic. My fiance and I waited way too long to plan our honeymoon, and contacted Jim in a panic a few weeks before we wanted to go to Tahiti. Not smart! Jim was extremely accommodating and immediately scheduled a time for us to talk about what our dream honeymoon would look like. We didn't hold back - we told him exactly what we wanted, and we gave him our budget. It wasn't easy, but Jim made phone calls and pulled strings and got us exactly what we wanted: two resorts in Tahiti, both with over water bungalows. One was a big resort right off Bora Bora, and the other was a boutique resort on a tiny private vanilla island. We especially loved the boutique one, and NEVER would have found it without his help!! I first contacted Jim of Perfect Honeymoons in August 2008 to find out more about him and to see if he was available to help plan my May 2009 honeymoon. My husband and I traveled from Ellicott City, MD to Vienna, VA where Jim's office is located to meet with him. During our first meeting Jim was wonderful. He was personable and met with us for over an hour to get to know us and to offer us a few suggestions for the honeymoon. We left feeling elated; Jim had offered us two wonderful suggestions (Hawaii and Costa Rica). We had not considered Costa Rica and ultimately decided that this was the destination for us. We also decided to use Perfect Honeymoon and Holidays to book our honeymoon because we thought Jim was the best. All the reviews we read indicated that Jim would be great to work with throughout the planning process. We first felt resistance from Jim when we inquired about a few hotels that he had not personally visited. He clearly did not want to book us with these hotels, although at the time we did not know why. We finalized all our plans and paid the deposit to the booking company that Jim uses - he did not book our trip himself, he used a third party to book our trip. In November I decided to price out our trip myself and found a drastic ($2,000) difference between what we were paying through Jim and my research. My husband e-mail Jim to inquire about the differences and e-mailed him an outline of what I had found online. We had no problem paying Jim's price, but we wanted an explanation of the differences. We did not hear back from Jim for weeks. When he finally responded to us his answer was "When we book a package they do not give me a breakdown of the costs just a grand total of everything. So I cannot provide you with a line item summary of each of the charges." This response was in mid-November. My husband and I had to contact the third party booking agent after we waited to hear back from Jim for weeks. Finally around Christmas the pricing fiasco was resolved. Jim agreed to take off his personal undisclosed $100 fee for the initial honeymoon planning consultation and any future correspondence, putting together the itinerary and 24-hour customer service during the honeymoon, any overnight fees and personalized travel tips and notifying the hotels that we are honeymooners. We were also refunded an undisclosed fee from his third party booking agent. It's a good thing that these fees were removed because we had huge issues at the end of our honeymoon and Jim was impossible to reach. We tried contacting him several times, but he only made himself available several days after our initial phone call/e-mail. Our last hotel also had no idea that we were on our honeymoon. Once the fee issues were resolved we were perfectly fine with Jim again. The evening before our final payment was due in late April Jim sent us a reminder and the balance. We promptly completed the form and sent in our credit card information. The next day Jim sent us an e-mail to let us know that one of our prepaid excursions was cancelled due to an earthquake that occurred in January. I called Jim to see if there would be a refund (and to ask why he hadn't notified us of this before April since the earthquake occurred in June) and he couldn't tell me exactly how much the excursion cost. We then looked a little further and found out that he never adjusted the price of our trip to account for the refund for the undisclosed fees. This was the icing on the cake and not what any bride or groom needs mere weeks before a wedding. My husband was able to sort out all of our issues, but we were almost afraid to say anything for fear that something would go wrong on our honeymoon due to Jim. Planning the honeymoon was the most stressful part of the wedding planning process and my husband expressed this to Jim during a face-to-face meeting. Jim admitted during this time that he was not receiving all of his e-mails which could have been why he was not responding to us for such long periods of time. In summary this was a very disappointing experience for such a highly rated vendor. read more

My wife and I used Perfect Honeymoons over the summer for a trip to Greece after a recommendation from some friends. We thought it would be great to have some help planning our trip at the time because we were too busy planning our wedding to deal with it. We were wrong. The experience was terrible. We thought we could trust Jim and thought he would get to know us and then make recommendations and arrangements to meet our needs. Instead of being helpful Jim tried to box us into a cookie cutter trip that involved traveling with and staying with "friends" of his organization. I am not exactly sure how the business works but it sure seemed like he was getting substantial kickbacks from the services he booked for us. Just try to inquire about traveling to or staying in any of the places that are not on his list. He allowed us travel to only three island choices in all of Greece: Mykonos, Crete or Santorini. While Santorini was clearly on our list the others were not necessarily. When friends suggested we go to Naxos and we inquired about this possibility Jim failed to answer us for two months and then said that he somehow "lost" or email. When, after some negotiating and agreeing to spend some time in Mykonos he finally agreed to this deviation from his cookie cutter itinerary, he failed to book our flights for over a week and then called us back to say the flights were now 30% more than we had originally discussed. We were so upset we considered cancelling the whole trip. To his credit Jim agreed to cover the difference in flights since it was his mistake. We ended up not much enjoying our stay in Mykonos as we had feared(we stayed on a small beach far from town overpopulated by nude men in an overpriced hotel with poor service in a room next to the loud laundry).Overall though we still enjoyed the rest of our trip, but Jim gave us very little advice and contrary to what he previously suggested, he never helped us book any activities nor suggested any. We would have appreciated if he took a greater interest in us. We would have been willing to pay more money. We just wanted to understand that were getting something in return instead of feeling like he was somehow constantly trying to rip us off rather than working with us. I would avoid this travel agent particularly if you are traveling to Europe for your honeymoon. You can do a lot better with someone else or by just booking the trip on your own. read more

My husband was referred to Jim Augerinos by one of his coworkers. We had so much planning to do with the wedding that we wanted to let someone else take over the planning of our honeymoon, especially since it was only about a month and a half away! We had a couple of ideas of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go and Jim helped us narrow down and pick a honeymoon that was made sense based on our tight budget. Without his help we would not have had the amazing trip that we did! We ended up going to Rome, Italy and the Amalfi Coast. I was so busy that I did not even look up either of the hotels he had booked; I just hoped and trusted that he picked somewhere we would enjoy. And did he ever! The Hotel D'Inghilterra was quaint and right in the heart of Rome and the staff was friendly and helpful. We could walk just about everywhere from our hotel. And the hotel in Ravello in the Amalfi Coast, Palazzo Sasso, took my breath away, literally! I have never seen a more gorgeous view from a hotel room. Everyone there knew our names and made sure we were comfortable. Jim also arranged our transportation; I kind of miss getting taken around in a Mercedes to the hotel, train, boat, etc. He was so sweet and even had a fruit platter in our room for our arrival. I could not have dreamt up a better honeymoon! Thank you so much Jim for all of your help! We have already said we want to return to both hotels and you will be the first one we call to plan the next trip!! read more

My wife and I originally met Jim Augerinos and the Perfect Honeymoons family when we planned our honeymoon trip. As promised, Jim planned and booked the "honeymoon of our dreams" and as a result we have been using him to book trips for us for years. We're up to 5 or 6 trips booked through Jim now. In addition, we have referred numerous friends, family, and colleagues to book their honeymoons and other vacations through Jim. I used to think that travel agents were obsolete these days, but Jim continues to prove his value every trip we book. He has been just about everywhere in the world (often multiple times), so he not only knows what places are beautiful, fun, exciting, relaxing, etc., but also what region to go to, what hotel to stay at, what side of the hotel to get a room on, activities, restaurants nearby, etc. Jim provides a free, no commitment consultation to figure out your budget and interests and can make recommendations that fit your goals. From there, he does the rest, so you don't have to deal with flights (unless you want to use your miles for the flight), hotels, transportation at your destination, etc. While it is fun to do research and book that stuff yourself, it's even better to have him handle all of that and then you can do your own "homework." One last great thing about working with Jim is that he not only does all of this for his clients, but he is able to get everything cheaper than you can on your own. After speaking with him in person (or on the phone for those outside of NoVA, which is what we do) and then book your own trip using the information and experiences that he has shared with you, but you won't be able to beat the prices that he gets.
