We took the 2 hr tour and saw ships, forts, the Battery of Charleston, dredges, the old Navy base, dry docks, and a dolphin, etc. Captain Chris tailored the tour to our interests specifically and our recollections of the area from decades ago. I highly recommend. First there were just the 4 of us so no crowds for Covid worries. Secondly , it was tailored to our interests... we covered a lot of ground in 2 hrs! Third, the cost was less than if we had taken a bigger ship with a herd of people and waited around as they fished, sight saw etc. this small ship was perfect and fast enough we saw everything we wanted and we're back before we burned up from the sun! The front of the boat is full of these seats that are set on the floor of the ship so if you have a problem getting up from the ground that's not the spot for you. There are some bench style seats in the rear. The one thing I didn't love was they pack the boat so for many attendees it's standing room only for 2 hours. There's no narration by crew they just play some music. There is a bar on the ship but no hard alcohol so no mixed drinks. Also no snacks on the boat, It's a sunset cruise but the first hour you're driving straight into the sun so bring shades. There are two bathrooms on board which are clean and the staff is friendly but without any narration or interaction your kinda just floating along, I was a bit bored and I'm not sure why. I've done sunset cruises at other locations like in newport and loved them, this one you sail around for two hours but not much to see to be honest. I'm not saying don't give it a try I just think I was expecting something else.

I was pleasantly surprised to find free street parking. We boarded the boat and headed out in the harbor. It was a beautiful night on the water and bonus, we got to see the sun set. They played a little music but mostly the captain gave us history of the harbor. We saw some old military ships and a couple of forts and went under the suspension bridge. They sell snacks, alcohol, soda and ice cream. I ordered a Pepsi and a chocolate chip ice cream cookie. And bonus, there is a bathroom on board. The staff was friendly. I would take another cruise with Charleston Harbor Tours.

It had been more than five years, but last week I took the tour with my three kids and it was just as amazing as ever! We were on a week long vacation and literally added a night in Charleston just for the Ecotour. Both our boat captain and the gentleman driving were incredibly knowledgeable and very approachable. Just good people. They taught us about the ecosystem and various animals that inhabit it. We pulled crab traps and got to handle wildlife as we learned about it. You get time to walk the Boneyard on Capers Island and it is an experience like no other. It is the most pristine beach I have ever seen. Before we boarded our boat to go back to the marina, our captain took time to show my middle kid how to throw a casting net. Very cool people. Perfect mix of education and fun!
