Anyway, my usual place had no availability when I was able to get childcare for my kids so decided to see if The Spa could accommodate me. Thankfully I was able to get an appointment! The Spa is such a good find. It's tucked in so it's quite relaxing and quiet. They have a lot of staff and so many colours to choose from. The last few times, I have had Kelly work on my nails and she has been great. A classic pedicure done by her will keep for a long time, including your feet staying smooth. The manicurist's behavior was appalling and the overall manicure sub-par (see photos below for the hack job on my cuticles and the overall streaky and messy colour). Not only did she apologize, but she explained things (why they've been short staffed, why it's been hard to get in touch, etc), without trying to excuse them and then she laid out her plan of solutions. It really was the definition of how to win back a customer. I went back today and couldn't have had a better experience. Big props to the young woman running this bustling business- a one-woman show- with integrity and respect. I booked my appointment online, which was very quick and easy. The staff were all friendly and incredibly attentive. All my previous issues seem to be a distant memory. I will definitely be going back. My previous review: Cute interior, good location, but poor customer service and a lack of communication between the employees. I've been a few times, hoping once I got into their grove, things would improve. I can't even count the number of unreturned voicemails I've left. Literally a week will go by and my voicemail (during business hours because the phone goes unanswered regularly) will never be returned. I haven't found any of the staff particularly friendly. There's a candy bar at the front and a coffee machine but I've never seen anyone be offered a drink. The nail services themselves are good. I think it would be fun for a bachelorette party or a group of girls since you could take over and make it what you want.

The nails were streaky and weren't shaped well, but I convinced her to try this salon because it's close by and she'd never been there before. To make matters worse, at the end, the owner told my girlfriend there's a $1 fee that is mandatory on top of the nails for the sponge which wasn't exactly mentioned prior to getting the nails done. The owner justified it by saying that the sponge is used on you and is new - sanitary reasons for the $1. I feel as though it should be factored into the price. The place I normally go was closed. So they said they'd do it and said it was $5.65. Normally it's $3-5 so whatever that's fine. (This is without colour, just two layers of gel). When I stood up to pay she said $5.65 and then when we got to cash she said $9.05. I repeated her and she said "Tax". Tax is 1.13%. Please don't go there. They charged me $10 ("only 9" is what she said to me) to fix one f---- nail, a full set - as I read on their pricing sheet - is $30. So unless they're actually charging $100 for a full set of gel nails with NO COLOUR she made a nice f---- tip for herself. Please for the love of god don't go here. Such a blatant rip off.
