They fixed it in a timely manner and everything seemed to be as expected until we found that him and his crew had built the wall crushing one of her electricity lines causing her to lose power to 75% of the house. My mom is 86, and every time she had him help her, he would give her a price and by the time he was done, he had charged her triple than what he quoted her. We had used Melvin for a couple other jobs, fixing my mom's car and working on the water line in the basement. When he worked on the water line, he quoted her $1200. She told him she is on a fixed income and she could not spend more than $900. Melvin said ok and continued the work. When he was finished he came up and handed my mom a bill for $1700. My mom told him she didn't have that and he told her to take out a heloc loan On her home. He then texted her every week moving forward with an arrow and the total amount of $1700 circled. He was harassing her. When we found out about the electricity, We called Melvin because he promised us, he guarantees all of his work for life. We had told him that we had 3 other companies come out to test for the electricity and we had been shown 3 times it was crushed under the wall and the only lights that worked in my moms house were in the bedroom. It cost $5000 to fix it and Melvin told us he did not want to do the work, hire one of the companies and he would split it with my mom. My mom is 86 years old. This was in February. After calling Melvin every week for 3 months, he finally called my mom in May and paid her $1115. Still to this day, he has not paid her the other $1115 that he owes her. My mom is the sweetest lady and she has really struggled financially trying to stay in her home until she dies, and this man took such advantage of her, after he sat and prayed with her telling her she was family. This is a scam particularly on older people who don't have any idea what truly needs to be fixed. I would not trust him or recommend this company to anyone.

We also had them replace our carpeting on both levels of the house. The end result was fantastic. Melvin constantly communicated with us on the progress and was always open for questions or concerns. The particular step that I felt was unfair was concerning mold. In one room they wanted to do mold mitigation, but no one could show me where any mold was, and no one had done any testing yet. Eventually they just did a mitigation and that conversation ended. The second place where there was some visible mold I was told that the testing indicated the level of mold was elevated and was concerning. I trusted his evaluation but did say I wanted to see the report anyway. He said he would send it when it was available--which ended up being after the mitigation was complete. The report actually said it was only barely elevated. The younger guy doing the work told us he couldn't hardly see any mold other than what was initially visible. I might not understand everything about mold but I do believe I was overcharged and mislead about the actual level of need. And they charged me $4000 for this and $600 for the testing... plus $3000 for the air drying, and likely $3000 for the reconstruction. As well as, no one explained to me in the beginning that the service was so compartmentalized. So I pay for the drying. I pay for the mold. And I pay for them to come back and reconstruct the bathroom they tore apart. Yet, they don't come back and move all the garage items back where they went, after they moved it for mold mitigation. I didn't leave this commercial exchange feeling very good about what happened even as they were nice guys. I don't think they are a bad company but I say be super wary and make sure they tell you about all the pricing that will come, and get second opinions. This was just disappointing.
