It's painted by Paul Geiger, a Toledo local and someone my parents know. :) Unfortunately, the theatre was under renovation for much of my childhood and I didn't attend many performances here, but nonetheless, this place rocks! I recently got to return for a friend's wedding and it was the perfect venue for it. They opened up the theatre for guests to walk around and check it out and the reception was held in the mural room. They seem to maintain a great line up of live music from the area as well as bands from out state and country. The performance venue is standing room only with a few exceptions near the bar. It feels intimate but it is big enough that you do not feel crowded. The reason I am giving them 4 and not 5 stars is for making us wait in 0 degree weather with a hella cold wind cutting at us as they had to process everyone in. It was very inconsiderate to keep people standing in the elements while one or two guys checked Id's and tickets. Maybe this seems like no big deal but seriously it was f*&^$ing cold out people! My buck 25 ass is not use to it and I dare say even the locals had a difficult time handling the wait and check in process. The place also looked a tad tired and dare I say dingy. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable eating here. That being said I did NOT see their kitchen so this can be an over reach on my part but generally speaking if things are not well maintained up front they are not well maintained in the back. My friend was allowed to leave with two highly intoxicated people while the supposed impersonator cop that was head of security told me to shove off or he'd have me arrested. Right after I asked to see this guy's bad, asked for his name and badge number he only said 242 [Gee, give the name of a band right don't you]. The head of security left in a late model orange colored pickup truck. moments later after he left, actual police arrived claiming that I had a gun in the night club. The entire building was closed at the time when the actual police arrived. The one of the DJ's happened to be standing outside next to when the police arrived and vouched for me. What a total joke of an encounter. Do not go here. You couldn't pay me money to even perform at this place as DJ or music project. Oh, and after talking with both Toledo police and the police in my own neighborhood, it turned out the head of security mentioned in this review is not a cop. This head of security should be careful of the person who is sober and is not afraid of some wanna-be.

It's got all the essentials: cold beer (only slightly overpriced), bartenders who are usually nice enough, and a smell that can only be described as shame with a hint of stale beer. The bathrooms? Perfectly disgusting, just as they should be in a place like this. The walls are covered in layers of graffiti and stickers, some of it actually pretty interesting if you take the time to look. It's also where I poured my broken 19-yr old heart out to friends working behind the counter, then used my meal card to buy and down an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's. Not too much later, I got to do my laundry (the washers were right on the other side of the wall) while watching Low. Throughout the years the EQMC consistently brings in great bands -- both local and touring. They also provided a home for the first few ever Bang! dance parties. I first spotted my current sweetheart here. I brought him along to a show here to get the official stamp of approval from a best friend while seeing Saturday Looks Good to Me. Who knows -- without the trifecta of the Halfass, the Pirate House (RIP), and the downtown A2 Kinko's, my life may have taken a very different course. But thankfully, the Halfass was and remains there -- providing delicious greasy-ass food, pretty reliably great people, and a little incubator for musicians and students with plenty of all-ages shows.

Another section had interesting tye dyed shirts? My friend Paul's spot had some equipment for music, and it was actually his band that I got to see perform later on in that space.
