We went to this Perkins last night and honestly were not impressed. It took forever for our food to get to our table and there wasn't many people in the restaurant so we are confused as to why it took so long. The food wasn't that great. My fish and chips were very under seasoned and the breading was falling off the fish. My husbands food was more of an appetizer than an entrée. My daughters burger was also under seasoned. We thought since a lot of people rant and rave over this place that we would give it a try since we are visiting this area but there was nothing to rant and rave about. Plus our waitress was hardly around and again the place wasn't busy so we weren't sure what was talking so long. The only thing that was some what decent was the pies but they weren't even anything to rant and rave about. I ordered two pies on a Friday, a banana cream and a cherry, for pickup the following Sunday. The man who took my order said they would cost $13.99 each. When we went to pick up the pies, there was confusion with the order because the person who took my order had written the number 1 next to banana cream, and erroneously next to caramel apple (which I have never even tasted, so obviously wouldn't order) on the order form instead of cherry. After several minutes of figuring out the MIND-BOGGLING CONUNDRUM of switching from apple to cherry (!!), they rang us up and we finally went on our way. My husband paid with a credit card so I didn't pay much attention to the total, especially since we were on our way to a family dinner with the pies, and now running late. Later, when I checked my receipt against my credit card statement, I was shocked to see not only a charge of $14.99 instead of $13.99 for the banana cream, but a whopping $26.99 for the cherry! They charged me by the slice! I called them the following Monday or Tuesday and spoke to a woman who was aghast and very apologetic. She said the manager would call me. No call. I called two more times over the span of over a month. No response. I ultimately resolved this issue via my credit card company. It should not have come to this. To top it off, the pies weren't even that good. I can bake a frozen pie as well as they can. I won't buy another, and I won't be back. read more

We loved all of our strawberry food and our waitress Tina. We were I. and out very quickly!

We went in for an early dinner around 4 and there was maybe 4 other tables and there was one waitress. It took 15 minutes to give our order and we asked for water with lemon and an ice tea. It then took around 10 minutes to get that. (no lemons) After watching her clear tables and visit with two ladies I asked for our lemons which we hadn't received. finally our food was brought and one order I had asked for AMERICAN cheese in my scrambled eggs. I got cheddar cheese and it wasn't even melted. The hash browns were cooked in old grease and were awful. Now the 2nd order was turkey and dressing with a salad with ranch and broccoli. Salad was yellowish brown lettuce and we never got the ranch. Terrible food and service. We paid the full amount and still tipped the waitress. Stopped in for a late weekend breakfast. Location was easy to get to and it was clean but a little run down when we arrived. The wait staff seated 5 of us easily and we all got what we asked for. It was a typical Perkins menu and food that has never really impressed me. I had a skillet breakfast with an extra egg that I would recommend as it normally is a little skimpy. Great service and above average Perkins. Had the turkey dinner and it was like Thanksgiving dinner. Meat was hot and moist and the dressing was just right. The Food and service is great. Pancakes, etc. are great. I also had a Grilled fresh mozzarella sandwich with fresh basil and roasted tomatoes, with a side of soup for well under 10 dollars. Go, Perkins, for getting gourmet menu. My kids are well behaved and love the crayons and menus, of course, and the cookies. This location, my only complaint!!!: the bathroom is miniscule, pretty dirty (mommy dirty scale: ew) and the diaper changing deck is placed directly in front of the door, so that you block both the two tiny stalls from getting out, and anyone from washing their hands and from coming or going. Apparently this town doesn't have many kids? CHANGE THE BATHROOMS PEOPLE. I almost had a nervous breakdown with 4 kids under 6. read more

Stopped in for an early breakfast on a Saturday morning and boy am I glad I did. I was traveling solo and .the waiter, George, gave me the VIP treatment! I was seated right away and was impressed that they were implementing Covid precautions throughout the restaurant. Each diner was spaced out, employees were masked, hand sanitizer was available for all and they served condiments in a single serving size. Coffee and water came out right away and my order was taken. My meal also came out very quickly and it was nice and hot! George checked on me throughout the meal but not so frequently as to be annoying. Towards the end of my meal he offered me a coffee "to go." I was expecting him just to bring me a "to go" cup since I had a pot of coffee at my table. He went above and beyond to bring me a large piping hot coffee and even included French vanilla cream! I haven't had such nice service in a long time. George is amazingly nice and deserves a raise! read more

We went to this Perkins as a lunch stop during a Midwestern road trip. The food and service was great. We loved the lemonade and the kids loved the chicken tenders. But the five stars goes beyond the usual. When we reached our next stop, seven hours away, we realized that we did not have our camera. This was not a small camera but a really nice Canon SLR with a camera bag and SD Cards filled with my daughters latest pictures for her photography class. We realized it must have been left at Perkins and immediately called them with the slim hope that someone found it. Sara, the manager of the Albert Lea Perkins, immediately picked up the phone and told us she had the camera bag and all the contents stored safely in her office. When we explained that we were already seven hours away and were not able to just drive back, Sara offered to ship the camera to us. We offered to set-up a Fed Ex or send her money through PayPal but she refused. She said she was happy to help and would take care of it herself! The next day she went to the local post office and sent the whole thing using express tracking. We don't have it yet but I can see it will be at our home in two days. We would have highly recommended this restaurant anyway, but now I can say without hesitation that this Perkins has the best service we have ever experienced! Thank you Sara! read more

Worst service ever. It was a Thursday evening at 7:00. We noticed groups that ordered after we did were getting their food. A manager came to our table 25 minutes after we ordered and apologized for the delay. She explained that there was a problem with the printer but that our order would be right out. Ten to fifteen minutes later some of our food came out, but they forgot to make my husband's pancakes. By the time they brought the pancakes he discovered that the steak tips that he ordered rare were actually medium well so he sent those back.
