We were on a road trip and stopped on a Wednesday around 4 pm. It was pretty busy because they were hosting a party on the patio, so we sat in the bar. It took forever to get service! The tables around us that sat after us were waited upon pretty quick. The young guy that finally came to our table seemed like it was his first day. He knew little about the menu and barely talked. Anyways, we ordered a flatbread pizza and the cream cheese olive burger. It took a while to get the food, but it was good. The burger was cooked well and had a lot of toppings. Went for burgers on a Friday night. We specifically asked our waitress if they made burgers medium rare and she said "yes, she would put it on the ticket". Both of our burgers came out well done. When I told the waitress that they were well done, she said "well I put it on the ticket" and walked away. I tried to take another bite but it really was way overdone and for me it was not worth eating (my husband ate his and said even though it was way overcooked he was too hungry to not eat it). Next time the waitress came around my husband flagged her down and told her that my burger was much worse than his and I really couldn't eat it. She said she would take it off the check , but didn't ask if I would like anything else or have it re-made. We were site seeing in Albert Lea and came in here for lunch. Great choice! The bar is really cute and clean. We were also greeted warmly. Our server Maranda was wonderful! I've eaten at the Thirsty Fox twice now and have enjoyed both meals. They do offer Gluten Free buns. My guess is they're Udi's because they crumble and don't hold together. That's not a problem though because the food is delicious just using a fork. The service is friendly and pretty quick. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I love that the outdoor seating is under a roof so you can enjoy the sun and breeze. read more

We went here for lunch on a Friday and had a good meal. The atmosphere is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating and there is a full bar. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and they brought me a berry unsweetened it tasted like which I do not recommend. I told them about my garlic allergy and they made sure to not have anything on my sandwich. Everyone in my party had salads and pizza and they were good as well. Stumbled onto this place driving from Minneapolis on our way to Ames,IA. We try to avoid chains and fast food when we can. Walked in and two guys are at the bar talking shot choice for pheasant hunting and lamenting how Unknowledgeable the staff at the local hunting store are... inside area is pretty full, It was a nice night, so we chose to sit outside on the back patio - Craft Beer selection is solid and a pleasant surprise. I got the "Elevated Amber" and it was quite good. My son ordeeed the "Oktoberfest" and it was good also. Cheese curds are excellent. This is what we call "Pub Food" and it is excellent for what it is. Service isn't great - two meals came out and mine came out 10 minutes in. - it's a small town, Friday night during football season and they are busy. I'll give them a pass for that. My son and I needed a bit to eat after a 2 night winter camping trip near by. We looked up a located restaurant where we can get a bite to eat. My search turned up a restaurant called Thirsty Fox Pub. My first impressions/ambiance were great. I saw a busy restaurant full of laughter and families enjoying each other company. The staff greeted me, right when my son and I entered the door. We waited to be seated and started our eatery journey. Maranda was out waitressing. She was extremely friendly and so, so patient while we were deciding on what to eat from the extensive menu. I must say. Everything sounded so good. Looking around at what everyone was eating made my palette salivate even more than it already was. I finally decided on the BBQ Pulled Pork with onion rings and my son decided on the Bourbon Bacon Burger with fries. We have the Nachos for an appetizer. The food arrived incredibly quick. The appetizer was amazing. I loved it. The chips they used were extra crunchy and the pile of deliciousness was waiting to be devoured!!!! The main course arrived soon after we finished the appetizer. My pulled pork was so incredibly delicious and those onion ring were crunchy and savory!!! My son devoured his burger, I didn't get a chance to ask if he even tasted it. My overall experience at this fine establishment was absolutely Devine! Was looking for an alternative to a chain restaurant on our way through town. Found this place doing a search for "burgers" online. When we were greeted we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not. We were told it would be about ten minutes but were able to get seated after 5 minutes. So I guess it's recommended to have reservations? Friendly service kept our waters and lemonades refilled. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. The kitchen was very accommodating to the picky eaters in my group. On the downside, it is rather small, there isn't really a good waiting area, and I did not like that they didn't provide an itemized bill. Let's just say that I wish I could give just 2 1/2 stars. I also want to preface this is that I come from a foodie Mecca in the San Francisco Bay area so let's put that aside. I walk in and I look at the very limited menu, and I'm thinking to myself I just stick to basics. I ordered a patty melt and a Mojito. Basic right! I ordered the patty melt medium rare, and the patty came greater than my hair. I sent it back and it came out good, but as I'm winning, I eat my onion rings and you think that they would send out a fresh order of onion rings for waiting. Maybe I'm just being too picky. The Mojito came from a pre-mix that tasted nothing like a Mojito. I guess people from this area just have lower expectations and that's OK. The service was decent and it didn't look like a bar and Grill when you walked in. Next time I'll cook my own in the parking lot of the hotel. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday night, about an hour before close. There were more people eating than I thought there would be. I had a cup of chili and husband had fish and chips but substituted tots for fries. Both meals were good. It's definitely more bar food cuisine. I would suggest to them to add some crackers on the side of the chili bowl along with a little sprinkle of cheese and small dollop of sour cream. The chili was good but needed a little presentation. I also had a margarita which was served in this cute cocktail glass. Our one server was waiting all the tables, tending bar, and bussing tables. Rather mediocre. NIce folks and all but the flatbread was a cracker. In most of the world, pizza margherita means fresh mozzarella and fresh basil not commodity pizza cheese and dried basil flakes. the food and service were good however we were disappointed that they allowed dogs (it was not a service dog; we asked) into eating area. It was a large dog and nearly knocked over their table. we had already ordered when the dog arrived otherwise we probably would have left. to be fair, we were sitting on the patio, however tables were close to each other and patio was closed in. in my opinion, it's just not sanitary to have dogs were people are eating. we love dogs and have 3 at home, we just don't bring them to restaurants. read more
