I've been shopping at Perrines for a long time. In produce I shop for golden delicious apples and I never had a problem. There have been times when I get sale items like Neterines for .99 PER LBS or Pears ( on sale only) and they would rot fast. I say to myself for the price what can I expect. As far as the meat I ususally go for the chopped meat on Tuesday for $4.49 I have never had a problem with it but at the same time I wonder am I getting a quality product due to the price? Salmon they usually have a good price on it. Again I've never had a problem with it but since I buy the Atlantic Salmon I like to know where it comes from. When I ask usually the clerk behind the desk doesn't know, then he will go to the back and find out and tell me Canada. ( which is better than chilli) but there is no infomation on the packaging or anything. I've decided to keep safe i will buy Bluehouse which is Salmon grown in man made tanks in Florida from another supplier. The deli Deparment is really good. They have better tasting and better valued deli than most major supermarkets in the area. Overall I really like Perrines. So far the food is real good and you have good values. I'd give it 5 stars if I can find out more info on what I am buying. with Fish and meat, and sale items on produce lasted longer. read more

The prices on produce, deli and meat are very reasonable, and the quality is very good on the meat and deli. Perrine's has a very strange floor plan for the layout of this supermarket. The checkout aisles are pretty much in the middle of the store and the rest of the floor seems to be have planned chronically, to say the least. Otherwise, it is a pretty cool market with an emphasis on produce, meat and specialty groceries. While I was there, the store had a relatively steady flow of traffic and like many markets, some things were at a good price point and some were not so amazing. Still, overall, Perrine's is a convenient location with more than ample parking, the interior is pleasant enough and they had some good sales going on. For instance, cod was on sale for ten dollars a pound, well, to be precise, the cod was $9.99 a pound (close enough to ten dollars) and red skinned potatoes were ninety-nine cents a pound. I.will definitely recommend Perrine's and I will give it an overall rating of five stars. read more

Loved the New Smyrna Beach store. This review is for the Port Orange store. Wanted some Tapioca pudding. The NSB was all out. Purchased 1 pound at the PO store at $4.99 per lb. (the NSB store was $1.99 per lb.) but I really wanted some Tapioca. It was awful, soupy and not cooked enough. I was going to throw it out but decided to try to fix it. Went to the internet for info and proceeded was success. It was good and I ate it all. Now, lets look back, after this cooking procedure the pudding has cooked down to less than 50% of its original content, that means that the $4.99 per lb. had now at least doubled. The Port Orange store was very impressive but I think, I will keep my business to the New Smyrna Beach store. read more

Christmas dinner tradition is prime rib. I've never purchased it from Perrines but preordered a boneless cut for pick-up. Went to pick it up and the order was not to be found so they hastily cut one for us with bone. In 25 plus years I have NEVER had such a terrible cut of meat. I'm not kidding when I say I had maybe 40% of the roast available to eat. I was unable to actually cut the roast into steaks. Lesson is to shop at another store. read more

It is sad to see a much beloved local business fall so fast since the new owners took over. Perrines has always been known for fresh produce. During the last 6-12 months of shopping I have bought or rejected onions, bananas, brussel sprouts, corn, oranges or broccoli because it was near rotten. This didn't happen under the old management. It seems like whoever is doing the buying isn't up to the task. Sometimes it looks like they have overbought and left inventory in the back room for a week or two until it is unsaleable. Then they put it out on the sales floor anyway, instead of throwing it out and learning something from the mistake. Customers shouldn't be expected pay for the company's mistakes. What is a the point of going to a store known for their produce if it is so hit or miss? I hope they can improve on this but right now the employees on the floor don't seem to care. read more

Well there's lots more than Fruits and Vegetables here although all I needed was a lone green bell pepper for my meat loaf. I actually have been wanting to come check this place out - it was a lot larger than I pictured it would be and although it's the Noah's Ark of produce they have slowly expanded their offerings it seems. This is definitely a popular venue and I could see from the size of the parking lot and the length of the checkout lines they need every square inch of the real estate. My bell pepper was beautiful and fresh and located only a few feet from the entrance but since this was my first visit I decided to get the full tour - they have found a number of ways to separate themselves from other like businesses by stocking some unique items, in my opinion it's a cross between a Flea Market and a IGA grocery store in a very very very small town. If I had to highlight a few things I liked and a few things that I didn't care for it would be two very short lists - it's a niche no frills business for sure. I guess if you can mentally accept it as some sort of a "farm store" then the lack of being squeaky clean won't bother you. The staff here was friendly maybe too friendly because the check out process is sooooooo slow and ten people deep at each lane at least it was during my visit - I drank a full large bottle of water I picked from the barely cool refrigerated cooler near the register while waiting (yes the checker rang up my empty bottle but the checkout is so painful they should have complimentary refreshments). I'd return probably not so much for the produce, meat or seafood but definitely for the boxed fried pies - I did also liked that mask aren't mandatory, I love my right to choose they let me pick any bell pepper I wanted.... read more

This is an amazing produce store. Lots of nice veggies, fruits and meat selections. The prices are a bit more but the quality equates it. They have a huge cheese and wine selections. The bakery products looks good but I have not tried them. One major thing is the store doesn't mandate masks during these uncertain times. I like the store but the same time I am hesitant to go because of maskless people in the store. Hopefully they change the policy. read more

Wow! We are snowbirds from Michigan and when we come to Port Orange, we always go to Perrine's and we really love this market. We never come out of there without some thing or a lot of things. This weekend it was outrageously good barbecued ribs that we've never had better! Their choice of produce, meats, wine, and just about everything is amazing. I wish we had this store in Michigan. Or maybe it would be better if not, because we'd be, loading up with things there very often. Lol! Good job Perrine's! read more

We went to the Port Orange store today. The first time we had ever even heard about Perrine's. We drove up from DeBary. I picked up a bag of red seedless grapes, the sign said $ .99 per pound. As you can see by the photo, I was charged $2.49 per pound. My mistake was not looking at the receipt until we got home. We had planned to return, doing day trips to the beach, shopping at numerous other stores and enjoying a day out, maybe having a meal. The huge overcharge on a minor item has made us unhappy and unlikely to return. Heading home for the summer with a deflated opinion of Perrine's for sure. read more

I love ....yes love my Perrine's in Port Orange. I shop there on a regular basis for my produce (you can't beat their prices) and the meat department. Again, they have great prices on the cuts of meat.. running specials weekly, so I tend to purchase sale items, then food saver them once home. They really do have an interesting selection of wines. There's always something for everyone's taste. Needing fresh flowers stop in again. You never know what the deal is going to be. A dozen roses for $6.00 or maybe it's sunflowers. I like to plant my own herbs and have found seeding there for my garden here.. it's one of those hidden treasures. Just never know what you're going to find. Dry goods are not always a brand that I recognize, but I've never had a terrible experience, so why not live with a sense of adventure. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable 3 qualities that I can appreciate. Easy parking... great shopping hours.. need I say more. read more

I have never had an issue with the NSB store. This rating is for the Port Orange Store because of my last 4 trips. TRIP 1 - overcharged; did not get the sale price ..... manager took care of it on my next visit TRIP 2 - the bulk bags (2) of chicken I purchased were rotten, manager also took care of it on the next visit. TRIP 3 - purchased what was labeled as parsley, low and behold these yellow flowers start blooming - they're pretty so I didn't bother to say anything TRIP 4 and FINAL trip to the Port Orange store - over charged again for vegetables I told the cashier were from the .69 cent bin and yet she rang them at 1.99 and 1.49 per pound - AND - The deli department always has pre-sliced cold cuts for easy pick up. I grabbed some American cheese (usually Troyer, this time label said NEW). I open it at home to find out it's PROCESSED CHEESE FOOD put into a deli package so you think it's real cheese at $4.99/lb - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What kind of scam is this? read more

My mother lives in Daytona and recommended that we go to this market. I am glad she did. They had so much variety of fresh veggies and fruit. They also had a lot of variety of food that you just don't see at Publix. We got fresh cuts of beef that were delicious. The bread from the bakery was fresh and delicious. The produce at Perrine's is usually quite good. The wine prices can be very good. Every other grocery item is fine in terms of price. We have had some trouble with the meat. I bought three packages of stew meat, which I cut up and slow-cooked to make chili con carne. It was inedible. Tough and stringy. I tried cooking it longer to tenderize it. In the end, I threw it all out because tasted wrong. This is not the first time we have been concerned. For the record, I then went to Publix, bought more meat, made the chili and served it at a potluck -- well received! read more

It takes a lot to excite me. I once won $250 on a slot machine and it barely got a response from me. When I learned about Perrine's, I got a little excited. Intrigued might be the correct word. Today I realized that I needed a couple of items from the grocery store. So I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to check it out. As I walked into the store and took in the sight, I felt like I was struck by Cupid's arrow. It's pretty massive, especially when you think you'll be walking into a simple produce market. I decided to start with the bakery section, well because, CHOCOLATE!!! I was fascinated by the selection of breads, bagels, cookies, cakes...I think as I left that bakery department, I came out with diabetes. Onward to frozen foods and grocery! All of the frozen food you can find in the mainstream grocery stores and MORE! I picked up some frozen pierogies and a whole octopus. Expensive seafood, you might say? A little over $5.00 for a whole octopus. WHAT?! They carry all kinds of groceries from pasta/pasta sauce, spices, condiments, pickles, all varieties of rice and TONS of different types of salad dressings. Now to check out the meat department.... Alright, now it got ridiculous. I expected to see a couple varieties of meat and fish. But much to my surprise, there was salmon, tuna and types of fish I never heard of! Steaks of almost every cut, so I picked up a beautiful NY Strip. Pork of all different kinds, lamb, filet Mignon and all kinds of chicken. Prices? How's $2.99/lb for chicken breast? Beat THAT, Publix (that's our mainstream grocery store in Florida)! I finished my self-guided tour through the sliced to order deli department and produce. I used to be a Produce Manager, so I can appreciate the freshness and variety I encountered here. I picked up a large and healthy looking eggplant as well as some other random items. Asparagus was reasonably priced as well so I grabbed a bunch of that. I'm not much into booze, but yes, they have a big corner of the store with abundant amounts of wine, beer, margarita mixes....you name it! I am absolutely impressed with Perrine's. I love this store. It's a little hidden gem in the old food lion location on Clyde Morris. It gives me Lucky vibes especially in the produce section and beer/wine section. I could seriously get lost in this store for a few hours. It squash season and they had all the fun delicious in stock and at great prices. Don't forget to grab a fun flavor of dole whip before you leave. I always get the mango and it doesn't last more than a day in the house. Today, we grabbed the adult ice cream in the cooler near the dole whip. We got bourbon chocolate covered cherry. Divine! One day I'll take the time to explore all the fun seasonings and pickled everything. I'll probably make another run soon as they had crowder peas in stock and I never can find that unless I'm in north central Florida. The tomatoes were looking tasty too and they had yellow grape tomatoes in stock! We grabbed one of the deep dark green watermelons that were marked extremely sweet. I'm secretly hoping it's a black beauty watermelon, but won't know until we cut into it. You just never know what fun things you'll find there and that's what makes it a great stop for a few special treats and to try new produce out! read more

I don't know what has happened in this store. i did business in the old store and really liked the new store. Employees greeted you, asked if you needed any help. Then on Tuesday, I went in to get my usual items, couldntfind some cheese, asked an employee where it was, she said over there. Went to the meat counter, 4 customers waiting, no employee behind counter. Take a number is a waste of time if you are not there. No smiles anymore. read more

Best cordon bleu chicken breast ever. They also have a crap ton of liquor. I recommend the Jack Daniels light whiskey if you're looking to see where you're going. They have different flavors like raspberry, grape and my favorite peach. I haven't tried the others yet. The ice cream in the plastic container is best as well. 10/10 would visit again. read more

I went today to the deli and the guy who waited on me was so rude. Asked him for two things and screamed at me one at a time. He started to get my items and then looked at me and said take a picture it would last longer. Was a complete jerk and embarrassed me without me saying a word to him at all except to tell him what I wanted. Then I tried to call and let a manager know how rude he was and the guy who answered the phone was rude as the deli guy and said I don't see a manager around. They used to be great but I will never shopthere again it has changed. read more

I heard so many positive things about this place, I had to check it out. And they were true! I went before the grand opening and not everything was ready but it was wonderful! Now it's my regular produce place, and many other specialty foods are available for gift baskets or nice meals. Meat, fish, deli, bakery, and more, they have it all! I would love to request that they carry stone ground grits, cracked wheat sourdough bread, and purple (inside) sweet potatoes, then I wouldn't have to go to Orlando anymore! Thanks! read more
