I saw Dr. Perrone in 2017 and got Lasik surgery with him through a recommendation of a friend's cousin. My Lasik gave me chronic dry eyes, and I am still dealing with it all these years later (I just paid $1,600 for 4 IPL procedures to treat MGD and have seen 5 or more Drs and dry eye specialists over 7 years). There were two follow ups, but when I called later and explained that I had issues, his office said they don't take my health insurance and only two follow ups were allowed after the surgery. After I got the Lasik I returned to work and I had to leave work early because my eyes were so uncomfortable for the first several weeks. I am not entirely blaming him, but I don't believe I was a good candidate for LASIK and the standards for approving people for the procedure are not thorough enough. Please make sure you don't have any underlying conditions before you get Lasik. If you have any discomfort whatsoever with your eyes, when you wear contacts, or at any other point, investigate it and see what the issue is or could be. Perhaps get the opinion of a Doctor who does not perform Lasik. read more

I waited a long time to write this review because I wanted to be sure...reeeeally sure that I had a positive experience with no side effects. Well, here I am almost 4 months post-Lasik with Dr. Perrone...and I would 100% recommend him to anyone. I went to Dr. Perrone with NO intent of getting LASIK. I simply needed to see an ophthalmologist, he took my insurance, and was easy for me to get to. I went on the recommendation of my Optometrist, who has been providing me with eye exams and glasses for the last 20 years, since they could take a more advanced look at my bad eyes. I have been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old. My prescription?? I was a +8 in one eye, and a +5 in the other...so pretty much completely blind without glasses. I also don't wear contacts because no matter the brand, they would irritate my eyes. So I went to Dr. Perrone, who did some tests, told me that my prescription was undercorrected, and asked if I'd like a new pair of glasses OR if I ever thought about getting LASIK correction surgery. Now, I am an EXTREMELY anxious person. I freak out over everything and I probably asked him like 1,000 questions about it right then and there...but ultimately Dr. Perrone made me feel so comfortable with his experience, the ease of the procedure, AND my being a perfect candidate, that I walked out with an appointment a month later, and a folder with materials to review. His office made it very clear that I could call at ANY time with any questions and they'd be happy to answer...and I did. My biggest freak out was over the consent form that I had to sign - on which you basically agree that they won't be responsible for loss of vision. I obsessed over that form a lot but everyone was super nice and reassuring every time I would call. I was also worried that my eyes were TOO bad for the surgery, but again, was calmed down a lot by Dr. Perrone and the office staff. The day of the surgery, I commuted into the city (right on Park Ave and 40th), with the husband. They did some last minute tests, mapped out my eyeballs, and then I had to watch a video. The nurse who was assisting Dr. Perrone was really nice and sweet, even though I was totally freaking the eff out - even post self-administered Xanax. Well, it was finally my turn. After they numbed my eyes for like an hour, I went under the machine. I was given a teddy bear to hold and you better believe I clenched the hell out of that bear. First, they did my right-eye, which is my better eye. I felt nothing and the laser beamed into my eyeball for 30 seconds. It was so quick and simple. It also helped that the nurse was counting down the 30, so I felt reassured it would be over soon. They patched the right eye, and swung me under for the other one, which I was told would take just a little longer because it was my bad eye. How much longer? 1 minute total. I felt really comfortable with that since I just did 30 seconds, no problem. Again, the nurse counted down as I stared at the beam. I was on the table for probably a total of 5 minutes. They helped me up once everything was finalized and checked, and I was led to a dark waiting room and instructed to keep my eyes closed for 20 minutes. It was SO DIFFICULT because ALREADY I could SEE - like much better than I ever could without glasses. I was getting really emotional. After about 20 minutes, the Doctor came to see me, and checked my eyes to ensure everything was still perfect and wrinkle-free. It was. I was given a dark pair of sunglasses, a bag of stuff, and sent on my way, with a follow-up appointment the next day, and Dr. Perrone's cell number, in case of emergency. Well, unfortunately for me, I had to use that cell phone number because I never received the prescriptions I needed for the drops to help heal my eyes! When I got home I had my husband call and Dr. Perrone was able to call everything to my pharmacy, no problem. The next day, I could see, but not read (so much blurriness). I went to every single checkup that was included in the cost of the surgery (I think it was 4-5) and things got better every single time. Now, I didn't have a next day miracle, and my eyes took about 2 weeks to reach a comfortable vision point, but they get better every single time I see the doctor and now, I have perfect 20/20 vision. My vision is better than it could have ever been via correction like glasses. My left eye is still catching up though. Overall, I had such a wonderful, positive experience getting Lasik from Dr. Perrone. One thing that made me feel really comfortable is knowing that he works as an ophthalmologist and as I visited him, I saw him take all sorts of patients, and schedule cataract surgeries, etc. This definitely isn't an in-out LASIK shop. It was also one of the cheaper places I found. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Perrone to anyone. And no, I got absolutely NO kickbacks from this review. I wish!!! read more

At 9:50 I asked how long it would be and the receptionist said he was with a patient and there was another before us.. Receptionist wasn't even apologetic about it. SCAM ARTIST!!! Two weeks ago I called the office and set up an appointment, spoke with his secretary, a russian lady, I explained to her that I am disabled I have serious difficulties to walk(did not wanted to schedule an appointment, be there and find out that I have to pay extras fees)I called my insurance and Dr Perrone was fully cover by my insurance and I asked her several times if still was any fee. Dr Perrone's secretary stated that THERE WAS NOT, and she guaranteed me that WAS FULLY PAID BY MY INSURANCE. She took all my information, we set the appointment for Monday October 9th 2017. The day came, outside was pouring, but I was there at 12:10 to filled out papers. Dr Perrone's office WAS EMPTY no clients and at that point I had to ask myself why??? I DISCOVER THAT: 1) Dr Perrone's secretary lied 2) Dr Perrone and his secretary hide from their patients HIDDEN FEES when you call 3) Dr Perrone charge $40 for prescription and for eye measurement EVEN DO My insurance also pay them for that. Dr Perrone charges extra money and I found that out because it is hide on the board they provide you when you visit them and you have to filled out their paperwork. I asked Dr Perrone's secretary that I wanted to speak with him, she smile, sit down and did not faced me, she never called Dr Perrone, Dr Perrone did not have any other patient inside because he was walking around talking to another lady. Again I asked her to speak with him and she smile and told me SIT AND WAIT. Knowing that this was another scam, I left. Putting the "NOTICE" on the back of the board is an old scam that Drs used to do in the past. Dr Perrone is taking money from your insurance and from you , that is illegal and called DOUBLE BILLING. I will be filing charges, worst of all even do they knew I am disabled and I have serious issues walking, I explained to them before visiting his office. It's been a little over 2 weeks since I did LASIK with Dr. Perrone. It's great that he's the one with you from step 1 till the end. He examined my eyes, tested for my real and most up to date prescription. We scheduled for the surgery a few days later. Everything was standard and informative. He answered all my questions and concerns about LASIK. Believe me, I was scared sh*tless about it but I was sick of wasting money on contacts and glasses every year. What I love about Dr. Perrone is how honest he is about the LASIK industry. He's not trying to scam your money or hustle you for a higher price like other places out there. He charges a flat rate of $1000 per eye, no matter the prescription. I felt pretty confident with him as my eye doctor and surgeon especially since he's had over 15 years of experience. It's great that there aren't multiple people handling my case and it's one person from the get-go so he knows everything from what it is and I don't have to worry about miscommunication between the eye examiner, surgeon, and vice versa. The surgery was done in midtown Manhattan and it was about 3 minutes. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes in total if you include the time from when you lay down on the surgery bed, numbing your eyes with eye drops and then cleaning your eye before surgery. LASIK is a very easy and short procedure. Basically a flap is cut into your eye prior to having the laser correct your cornea. My right eye took about 41 seconds under the laser and my left eye took about 45 seconds. Dr. Perrone was kind enough to allow my partner to be in the room with me and boy did I squeeze his hands like no tomorrow. The scary part was when they cut a flap into your eye because everything goes black for a moment. (Your eyes are being covered while the flap is being made.) I wasn't warned about it when it happened. I actually panicked a bit and I was like " OH MY GOD, I CAN'T SEE I CAN'T SEE!!! WHY IS IT ALL BLACK?! " Dr. Perrone replied to me " No, that's good 'cause if you could see then we have a problem." I ended up laughing a bit which helped to relax me during surgery. The part I hate most is probably when they put on the clips to hold your eyes open. The laser part is 100% painless. You don't feel anything at all. After the surgery, I got up and opened my eyes, I was already seeing ALOT better than I did with glasses. I was thrilled that I was able to see. ( My biggest fear about LASIK was going blind.) I rested my eyes for about 10 - 15 minutes and was given a bag of black sunglasses, artificial tears, tape, and eye shields for when I sleep to protect my eyes from getting poked or any foreign object getting into it. It's crucial for the first two weeks to not rub your eyes because your flap could move and that could ruin your vision or cause an infection. I went home and napped for a few hours. I woke up crying because I couldn't believe how clear the world looked. For the first time in 17 years, the world wasn't blurry anymore. I didn't need to reach over for my glasses. It was so emotional for me, I knew at that moment, LASIK was the best decision I could do for my eyes. The next day I went to see Dr. Perrone, my eyes were still a little bit sensitive to light but not so much on indoor lighting mostly sun from outside but at the end of the day i felt comfortable enough to not wear the shades. Dr. Perrone tested my vision and I was seeing 20/30 it was about 18 hours after the surgery. My vision was still a bit soft because the flap was healing but I could still see very clearly and definitely did not need my glasses. My eyes were healing great so Dr. Perrone said I could use my prescribed eye drops 3 times a day instead of 4. A week later I went to see Dr. Perrone again, my eyes are healing incredibly well and I now only need to use the prescribed drops once a day. He tested my vision and I can safely say I'm seeing 20/20!!!!!!!! I am happy to say that every day since I have done LASIK I look forward to waking up. The world has never been more beautiful when it's crystal clear the moment you open your eyes. I can't remember the last time I woke up with 20/20 vision.. probably when I slept with my contacts on or when i was 5.. I cannot thank Dr. Perrone enough, he made the whole experience, quick, painless and easy. I was able to return to work and do normal things the next day. I had lasik with Dr Perrone 1 month ago. I can't believe it took less than a minute per eye. I remember that day waiting for the pain to come but it never did. He makes you feel comfortable even gives out his cell number in case of an emergency. He is excellent. Now I can say that I have 20/20 vision. Thank you. read more

I had a scheduled appointment for 1 pm for Lasik consultation. I was there on time. I went to the receptionist to notify them that I had a scheduled appointment. Being that it was my first time there, I figured that they would ask for my name. Nevertheless, they just told me to have a seat with a few other patients that were waiting. An hour and twenty-five minutes later, as patients that came well after me were called in, and subsequently finished, I asked the receptionist about my status. She said that it will be 5 more minutes. I figured that I took the time out from work to go there, so I might as well wait. Just as I was going to walk out; after 10 minutes, they had me sit in the section of the waiting room, where they check your eyesight. (Side note: I should have trusted my first instinct, when I saw that in the waiting room they treat patients, and where they use a box of tissues for sanitary purposes) They then sent me into one of the examination rooms. There, an employee of this practice tested my eyesight. Part of the process, they inserted a couple of different eye drops into my eyes, and let me know to keep my eyes closed for a couple of minutes till the doctor would see me. 25 minutes later... still no doctor appeared. All a while, I hear him treat additional patients that came nearly an hour and a half after I had. At this point, I decided to not wait to be seen by the doctor, and I walked out. In conclusion, I would definitely not recommend someone to this office. As someone, much like others, I am sure, that may be a little nervous about undergoing the Lasik procedure. So I would have liked to feel like their doctor and office cares an ounce about their patients. Here they clearly (pun intended), they do not.
