When I attempted to discuss evidence I believed was important to my defense, I was told it was irrelevant and that I did not understand the law. Because of these concerns, I decided to terminate the attorney-client relationship. Initially, I was under the impression that I would receive a refund, but after I fired him, I was informed that no refund would be issued. I was also told that the North Carolina State Bar advised that a refund was not required. After conducting my own research, I was unable to find information indicating that the State Bar determines fee refunds between attorneys and clients. After ending the representation, I represented myself in court. The evidence that I had previously been told was irrelevant was ultimately considered in my case and helped support my position. Based on that experience, I am glad I advocated for myself and presented the evidence I believed was important. This review reflects my personal experience. I encourage anyone considering hiring this attorney to ask detailed questions about communication, fee agreements, refunds, and how evidence will be evaluated before making a decision.

Suzanne P Inge - Boyd Tavern

Suzanne represented me in a traffic matter in Mecklenburg District Court…read more Bottom line up front: my reckless driving charge was reduced to defective equipment. As readers of this review are probably aware, in Virginia a reckless driving conviction is a misdemeanor that stays on a person's criminal record, in addition to being a six-point moving violation for DMV purposes. On the other hand, defective equipment is a three-point ticket that is not considered a moving violation, and I am thrilled at the outcome. While some of the result is due to my record--I have no moving violations in nearly 20 years of driving--I also completed a driver's improvement course prior to my court date at Suzanne's recommendation. Suzanne's paralegal Ami explained that if I sent the certificate from my course along with my record that Suzanne could probably get the charge reduced, but I thought the outcome would be a three-point violation like improper driving. This reduction completely exceeded my expectations. During my driver's improvement course, the instructor advised that a local attorney can be a good investment in Virginia traffic cases, as they have practice delivering an effective argument that makes the most of the time in front of the judge--often less than 5 minutes. The instructor also explained that for some Virginia law firms traffic cases can be a big business, which is why I got flooded with advertisements for for 3 weeks after my traffic stop. Given the nature of traffic cases and my circumstances, I felt strongly that I wanted an experienced, female attorney who was local to the area. I tried calling the Virginia bar and worked other attorney friends for recommendations. Literally none of the 30+ ads or the three other firms I called fit my criteria--but Suzanne did. I corresponded entirely with Suzanne's office manager and paralegal Ami, who was professional and easy to talk to. As noted the team made recommendations about evidence that could improve my case, they were good about explaining the process and correspondence in general, and their fees were identical to the other firms I considered or for whom I received ads. The best part? I did not even have to appear in court, which is huge because Boydton, VA is far from my home. Suzanne personally appeared on my behalf, and I got a summary of the result the same day. I hope you don't ever get a reckless driving charge, but if you do I recommend Suzanne.

I give this law firm zero stars. Although they have multiple firms throughout the country I believe…read morethat they're all the same. All it takes is one bad apple. I hired JSF to represent me after I was injured in a car accident that wasn't my fault. My medical bills were about 70k dollars and the insurance company had offered my attorney 60k to settle out of court. My attorney said he could get me a lot more, upwards of 200k. After about four years of litigation and being transferred from one attorney to the next within the organization we go to trial. My attorney ends up being a young pregnant woman that didn't know crap about personal injury law. At one point we had a mistrial because of a talkative juror and instead of postponing the trial to the next day, she looks at her calendar and sees that she has an appointment with her baby doctor and so we continued minus a juror. She goes on to mention that I'm celebrating my 50th birthday which has no bearing on the case. In the end she never attempted to contact my witnesses and the jury thought my doctors were trying to run a scam. I was awarded 38k. JSF got over 10k of the money and my insurance company settled on 17k of the 70k that I owed them leaving me with 11k to pay out to other bills that I had acquired while out of work. If you're ever in an accident, call anyone but James Scott Farrin.
